Thank you for the cover removal and EVERYTHING my 2011 has been sitting since about this time 2021 i start it up now and then and it ran perfect til about november or december, cylinder 1 misfire, i am at 221661 miles, but its on the original plugs - if plugs fix the misfire then its worth doing other repairs and driving it til it dies
Thanks a lot! Appreciate the info and the camera angle. The volume between your intro, outro and the content is CRAZY though. Normalization is somewhere in whatever editing suite you are using. Try it out. :)
Great video, I will be using this as a reference when I work on my car. Quick question, do you recommend disconnecting the battery when changing the spark plugs or there’s no need to do so?
I know this will be an odd question. I have been told that I need to replace the wires along with my spark plugs. However the wires they show me are nowhere on the engine. By the video, it looks like they screw directly into the engine. Hees the question. Does a 2010 Chevy Malibu have spark plug wires? I've had to correct the O'Reillys before. They had 2 separate bulbs for brake and tail lights when they were actually the same bulb. He took care of it for me and actually preferred we tell him if something is wrong in the system.
You wont have wires on this car. It is called coil on plug. The rule of thumb i go with is spark plugs are 100k mile and replace coil pack 150k miles. you can of course do it sooner
Gap the plugs. And majorty of plugs come pre gapped now. Since most call for irideuim tip and those are fine tip you cant not gap them without damageing them
I'll be darned if I can see that screw under the plastic cover! It looks pretty easy to spot, but I have looked and looked without seeiing it, Can;t see the screw, can't take it out. Any suggestions?
@@EfurdGarage Thanks. Slipped the fitting off without having to mess with the screw. Now, those "clips" that hold the ignition plug in the socket, Every cotton pickin one broke (probably my fault). The plug would literally not budge out of the socket. I has to use a small block of wood and "gently" pound them out after managing to get those clips wiggled out.
well normally a miss would indicate plugs, but also they should be changed after 100k miles as well as most sensors because they start getting weak. Best place to start is having a scanner read the codes on the car
I know this video is 2 years old but I’m here watching and taking notes. Thank you sir 👍
Glad it could help, thanks for watching
No three years old. Love you man! Step-by-step walked me right through it! Thank you thank you thank you

I did man thank you and God bless you
@@jesusm6308 i am glad it helped you, your welcome
I'm nervous about that screw too, I was considering going through the process with just a flat head but it's looking worth it to go get better tools
@@clairehardee6325 yeah a little investment can save you a ton of money every year. I second that in getting a basic tool set.

I have never disconnected the battery for that and most things. There are a few things i disconnect the battery for
@@EfurdGarage Souds good. Appreciate your response 👍🏼

don't you have to space the plugs or something of the sort? don't know for sure just asking!
Gap the plugs. And majorty of plugs come pre gapped now. Since most call for irideuim tip and those are fine tip you cant not gap them without damageing them
This may be a crazy question, but would the plugs come out easier if the engine was hot or cold? I don’t want to strip any. Thanks!
@@philstucker1312 warm would be easier
Great video, what is the size of the spark plug socket?
Standard 5/8 that is about what most are all
I'll be darned if I can see that screw under the plastic cover! It looks pretty easy to spot, but I have looked and looked without seeiing it, Can;t see the screw, can't take it out. Any suggestions?
The best advice i can give is try to use a flash light or the camera on your phone to try and spot it

What's the spark type for the i4 2.4l engine sir?
i used e3.74 on this one, or you could go ac delco 19301814
How do you know it’s the spark plugs 😩 my car is doing this jerk and shaking then turns off

What is the spark plug gap in 1000ths ?
.044 but with most modern plugs (iridium and the like) they come pre gapped and risk damage gapping them
Man, those plugs are way down in there.
Thats no joke. I was wondering when it was going to end
What size socket for the spark plug removal ?
5/8th
Aren't you supposed to gauge the plugs themselves before you put them in?
Old style yes, but plugs come pre gapped now and with the fine point tips now its really easy to damage the electrode if you try to do it.
I wouldn't trust pregapped plugs.
Which cylinder is which does it just go 1234 like left to right how do I read it
Yes that would be correct on cylinder number. Firing order will be different
Does this apply for a 2009 right?
Thanks
yes it will
@@EfurdGarage thanks 👍🏼
what if i drop it
If the end is bent get a new one
So I guess this was a 4 cylinder car?? Cause I was waiting the one's in the back
yes 2.4 is a 4 cylinder. the v6 is a 3.6
👍
Thanks
That's exactly why those plastic parts intimidate me. Hidden clips, clamps and screws..I would had defiantly broke something.
They really can be a pain. Its crazy to me that the engine cover is also the air box.
Everyone, get yourself one of those sockets for spark plugs. Do not try without one, not worth the hassle. They are cheap
That is true
