ReligionMakers: Strength In Faith celebrates Reverend Dr. Elaine Flake, Senior Pastor of the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral, one of the largest churches in New York City. Rev. Dr. Flake speaks about her career and those in ministry who influenced her.
On May 3, 2021, Reverend Dr. Elaine McCollins Flake was appointed the pastor of Greater Allen AME Cathedral in New York City by Bishop Gregory G. M. Ingram. Her husband, Rev. Dr. Floyd H. Flake, was the church’s long-serving pastor who retired in 2020 after over forty years of service. With over 15,000 members, GAC is the largest congregation in the connectional AME Church. Prior to her appointment, she served as the church’s co-pastor. Flake was instrumental in developing the Allen Women’s Resource Center which houses women and children who are victims of domestic violence and the Allen Prison Ministry. In addition, she serves as Advisor to the Missionary Department and as Advisor/Coordinator of the Allen Women’s Ministry Department.
