- They Said This Ride Would Be Easy..But Was It REALLY?
Day two in France and it sounds like a straightforward 120 km ride down to the Mediterranean coast and back.

That is a loooong way to cycle. I'm picking up my brand new bike on Tuesday (Carrera Subway 2 hybrid). As a big guy, about 21 stone, I'm scared stiff of the comments and looks from people, but I'm determined to do it. This channel has encouraged me to feel more comfortable with having a bike at my size and I'm grateful for that. I walk loads so hope cycling won't be too tough for me as my legs must be quite strong. Roll on Tuesday!
start easy mate, that is the answer, get used to the bike as well...
Very nice Len, and your lovely pals.
Well done Leonard. I know all about biking in the heat over here. 70-80 Km is a good distance in that heat.👍😀🚴♀️
It’s easy to forget just how hot it was that day. Well done to everyone, and to Vicky for feeding us and Chris for leading us.
They did a great job for us.
the day changes when you see Leonard's video - always so happy face, so nice weather, so nice places - thank you Leonard for all your great videos and sharing the moments.
This year in UK we had only short summer and only in June - July and August is horrible with 1 or 2 days being nice - you showing France, Spain etc. makes the life more optimistic.
Wow, 110 km!! I can't even imagine. I'm glad you didn't try to push yourself for that distance in that heat. Very impressed with the other members in your group that made the longer distance!! Great video as always.
Hello Leonard,
Well done for getting the the 70k done , it is always more challenging in the heat... I really liked the coastal town where you all had a paddle...
Take care.
Paul,,
Yes, well done everyone. Definitely the kind of ride I love - nice group of friends, stops to re-group, refreshment stops and a ceremonial dipping on the toes in the sea! And in that heat those distances are mightily impressive 🎉
Well done Leonard. I would have joined you in the van.
All in all, it was a super nice ride in France Leonard. Agreed, it was challenging and very hot. Thank you for taking us with you.
Bienvenue en France
Well done on the distance in that heat can’t beat a paddle in the sea
looks beautiful
Looked an extremely enjoyable route.
love your commentaries. you ride in such beautiful countries. Jealous a bit. such a great group ride and fun people. Really enjoy your videos
Good job 😊specially in that heat .what a beautiful place 😍
Well done!!!!!! 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
My hat off to the 110 km riders. In that heat, it is remarkable.
Nice ride, well done 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Living in Australia at certain times of the year if we don’t ride in the heat we wouldn’t ride for weeks at a time. It definitely comes down to what you are accustomed too!
Good choice getting in the van. Crazy warm day to attempt 110km.
Great video, thanks.
I’ll save the 100 km ride for another day.
Another great video and well done to all that did the 110km and well done Leonard for doing 75 still a good achievement, would love to do one of those rides you go on maybe next year
Email me and I can send you details; leonard@jollygoodvelo.com
Was another fabulous days riding 🚴🏻♂️🚵🏻♂️
Great riding it with you.
Looked lovely. For me, I would prefer to keep it to lamb rogan josh level!
*10am and 28 right now where I am.
What a beautiful ride. Bummer bout the heat and there be no shame at 76k ride in 40C heat. Thanks for the post and evjoy
Glad you liked it.
Really enjoy your videos. I think what I like more than your cycling is your friendly upbeat demeanor. Many times I have not felt like cycling until I watch one of your videos. Immediately I feel motivated and roll out. Thank you.
That looks like a beautiful ride! Nicely done.
Well done, I have never done 100km it is an aim however as an over 70 it will take some work, you were experiencing the heat I am used to but don't enjoy
Cheers peter
Perth wa😊😊
Nice spot, but the heat is nothing to fool around with!
Well done for riding 76km
Hope you get a century when you get back to England
As beautiful as the scenery is, I can’t imagine enjoying a ride in super hot or super humid weather enough to do it. I think I will stay in dry Colorado! Even when it gets to those kind of temps, our humidity is so low that I can always ride early in the morning, or early evening. Cycling shouldn’t be that painful. 🤷🏻♀️
I agrée that cycling shouldn’t be a punishment; that’s why I got in the van at 76ers but a little challenge taking one out of the comfort zone from time to time isn’t bad either.
Fab ❤ video lee I really got to visit there someday it looks nice
Hey Joanne, come and join us on one of our trips sometime.
@@jollygoodvelo absolutely will at some point thanks 😊 ❤
Was that a Canyon Ultimate CF SL you're riding? Be interested to hear your thoughts/comparisons on different bikes you end up riding on these foreign trips.
It was Chris’ bike and he very kindly lent it to me. It rode really well and felt very fast.
You could just walk back to England from there.
Keep right. After two gazillion meters, just follow the coastline, go straight on, slight right after France, and your will be at your destination on your left. "End of journey". 😁
(Looks easy on paper).
I must try that: it sounds so easy.
@@jollygoodvelo 😂
Another great ride. When did you get the Canyon?
I didn’t. That’s Chris’ bike and I’m just borrowing it.
I think I'd still be happy if I could have just been there and rode both legs into the teeth of a hailstorm!
3:36 noticed that!
What was that, Kevin?
The gendarme's close pass! He should have stopped to make it safe. Loved the video btw!
You make me so jealous.
I told you you might not want to watch!
@@jollygoodvelo I know... You are not lying. Show off. I'm still sending some rubber ducks in the mail(post).
If I wanted to cycle over a hundred kilometres in one ride, then I wouldn't choose to go to the south of France in the hottest season with temperatures of 36 degrees - completely crazy!
Try Normandy or some slightly cooler climes. Cycling in that intense heat with no shade is very draining and makes no sense at all.
I didn’t plan it that way.
It makes no sense if you’re a pussy. It’s like saying don’t ride in the wind and rain if you went by those rules you would never ride in this shit hole called the UK.
