Greetings from Northeast Ohio. My husband was at Fort Leonardwood in the summer of 1967. I’ve visited him for a weekend the end of June that year Sergeant Berry was very nice to me when I arrived at Fort Leonardwood and didn’t know where to go. He picked me up at the little airport and drove me to my accommodations. The next day he let my husband come off the field early so he could be with me. My husband was shocked. I believe Sergeant Berry respected my husband as a soldier.

Mike, I've heard all these stories for 32 years! My husband was in the Army from 1977-88. He grew up in California and was stationed in Germany guarding the border. He was a tanker and could tell you stories till the end if time! Says it was the best years of his life. Sounded like hell to me! My stepson joined the Navy in 2001. Really, things have changed so much in the last 20 years and not for the good either. Thanks for sharing, i enjoyed!❤❤

Hubby was in the Army from 1984-1991 and did 2 tours in Korea near the DMZ, TDY duty was at Ft. Lewis, Wa. Stationed at Ft Sill, OK - Ft Bragg, NC just to name a few and he worked with and trained others on the MLRS... Interesting fact is that while he was in Korea, the Army didn't regulate alot and the crew on the weekends would go for "night maneuvers" which was a beer run......

Hi Mike!! My first husband was in the army from 77-80. We were stationed at Ft. Polk LA. I chuckled when you mentioned it. Our son was born in May 1980 and my husband got out in July 1980. Ft. Polk was mostly a lot of long old buildings which is where my son was born. What an experience!! The closest little town was Leesville and it closed up very early every day. The highlight of my week was going to the laundromat and playing the pin-ball machines lol. What an experience!! 😂💜

Yep, we went to Leesville a few times, but due to the intense training mostly stayed on base

Sorry, but I don’t think our military is what it used to be. From the crap that I’m seeing on social media recently, it actually scares me. 😱
I know law enforcement isn’t the same as it was when I was in it in the early 80’s. I can say that I would counsel young people not to become police officers today.
I wasn’t military, but the guys I know who were say the same about the military too.
Thanks for your service and for your insight into military life. 😊
