Daybird Aviaries I just randomly clicked your channel when I saw your comment and I love your videos about the ducks, so adorable ! subscribe !!!+
I started practicing filming myself yesterday and i felt so awkward, hopefully I'll get over it and can do better.
Practice, have a script, and use free editing tools to take out any flubs, mess ups, etc. Just keep going and you can always edit it in post. Say a line as many times as you need till you feel comfortable with that take, then edit out the rest later
There's free editing software and a community always willing to help you, be that YT vids or Reddit or some other forum to learn a about software editing tools.
Paid ones are more for professionals doing serious video production. free open source, while not as robust, will get the job done.
the best 9 minute video! i learned a lot of tips! THANKS!!
You are an angel sent from above!

One of the best tutorial videos I have ever seen. Thanks for the great content
Love this video. Thanks so much. For someone just starting out this is perfect talking to us not down to any of us.
a really organized and practical vid. awesome! ps: beautiful house.
My smartphone's default camera app (Google Camera) doesn't have a menu item for exposure or focus lock, but press-and-hold the screen for two seconds on the spot you want to meter will enable the "AF/AE lock" and present a meter on the right you can slide up and down to change the exposure.
+Alex Swavely yep, that's the same process for iPhone and Samsung phones now too 👍
♡♡♡ So glad to find your channel!! I just binged watched 11 of your videos. I had to stop my self. Very clean clear and effective tutorials. Subscribed! Thank You!!!
I just discovered your site today and have to say that I think it is well made. Your explanations are well thought out and presented; it never feels as if you are talking down to to your audience. Thank you for putting in the time and effort you have to create these videos.
you just rock man, the video is really cool;-)
Thanks a lot. ESP. for the camera app suggestion. It makes night and day difference to manually control the settings.
And yes, you got yourself another subscriber. Kudos 😊

i was searching for some good videos that how to take professional videos using smartphone and even i saw many videos but none was useful to me but urs was very useful to me.tqsm
Thx for ur video. Helpfull
Thank you very much for providing the link for the tripod that has the Smartphone holder. I've been trying for several months to find one like that without luck until today. I put it in my cart so hopefully you'll get some reward from it when I purchase it.
thank you so much😊😊 stay blessed😇 you just made my day now this is what I call a perfect tutorial😁
Thank you so much! So helpful. I'm using my smartphone for my videos.
After much trial and error (and wardrobe changes to keep my pale face from being over exposed when I was wearing dark clothing), this video is a godsend. Airplane (flight) mode = BRILLIANT! Genius. Thanks. I haven't had a lot of luck with the inexpensive lav mic, but I solved boomy sound issues in my kitchen by padding every surface not visible in the shot (towels, foam mattress pads, throw rugs, blankets. What a difference!
Great to hear that this video helped! With your mic issues.. do you have the Boya microphone or something else?
Dunno the name of what I bought from Fry's (kinda like Best Buy), but it's worthless. Looks exactly like the one in the link in your video description. The other issue I have is a big black border around videos if I use the rear facing camera and zoom in to even 1.3x. I do that to frame the background better. You can see the results in "4th of July" and "Don't Let." Working on a solution so that I don't have to zoom in. (Plug a doorway with a curtain - both for visual appeal and sound control.) Vids done with a real DSLR and appropriate lenses don't have this issue. Might have to break down and get a real camera, although the phone makes it SOOOOOOOO easy.
Thank you! Your delivery and content are Cleary and easy to follow.
This was extremely detailed and helpful. You thought about everything. Thanks!!
Thanks for tips 👍
EXCELLENT as always! Easy to follow and apply!! Thanks!!
this is from 2015 and it is excellent for someone who is starting now!! Im hooked on your channel!! You are awesome!!
I highly enjoyed this video ! Im currently a new you touber and film on my Samsung s8. I cant wait to use these tips 😃
great tips!! very helpful to beginners like me ..the pause for a few seconds prior to recording and looking at the camera were a great takeaway
Hey this was a great video. I will be recommending it to my musicians because you gave a really complete guide for using the android phone to film and I thought you did a terrific job covering everything that needs to happen to prep and accomplish this properly. Well done.
Briiliant, clear and straight to the point. thanku....
Thanks Justin - liked and subscribed, both of which are increasingly rare for me with YT in 2016. Looking forward to more content of this standard - especially appreciate your clear diction and no-nonsense delivery.
Thanx this will save me alot of money
Thanks for the great advice!
I've been searching a lot of how to videos, and I can really follow and relate to yours! Thanks for all your hard work!
Great information. Just looking to keep it simple for just starting out on UA-cam so thanks for that. I look forward to using all your information and all your equipment suggested. Have a great day and thanks for the perfect video that I was looking for.

Thanks man, you're the best!
Haha I wish I had seen this video when I started a year ago 😂 I bought exactly these things but it took me so long to figure out what to buy
haha awesome you ended up with similar (or the same) gear! Massive congrats on 15k subs too - that's awesome!
Thanks Justin 😄 Btw, you have any recommendations for Android smartphone mics that you can plug into your phone as a sort of shotgun mic, so that you don't have to pin on your shirt?
What if I don't have a microphone? What do I do?
Ohh, awesome vid btw, very educational
Thanks!
If you don't have a microphone I'd suggest to position yourself as close to the phone as possible (without it looking weird) to get the best sound, and also record somewhere as quiet as possible. All the best.
Very clean, to the point, and filled with valuable content. Thank you.
You are a professional! Thanks much for Sharing your knowledge.
If You Dont Have Selfie Stick Use Stick And Tie Your Phone :)
Thank you soooo much really found this helpful.
Thank you very much for time and explanation.
When you said tripod, smartphone holder, and micro phone... i completely blanked out.
Great video. Just getting started. Thank you
Thank you Justin, for your time and effort in producing this tutorial.

great tips, you said some things I didn't think of, thank you
Great job Justin. One of the best videos on this I have seen.
Why would you use the vastly inferior front facing camera??
+Matthew Wagner I had the same question. The video is great, but Justin doesn't even mention that all smartphones have better back cameras so it would be wise to get a partner just for checking your position on the screen (and that's it). This way you get better video even on older smartphones.
I've learned that if you're going to be just doing a sit down / talking style video and you want to use your back camera than simply putting a mirror behind the camera can help you make sure you're in frame and in focus without needing another person's assistance. If you're out and about and using a selfie stick you can attach a small mirror to the end of the stick so that you can use your back camera and still see what you're filming and make sure you're in the frame :)
@@ArturZygmunt Using Note 8 front facing camera is the best thing you would ever think of
I want to make a math video tutorial using only a pen and paper(the video will show only the pen, the paper and my hand), could You give me some advices to set up my galaxy S5 and my gorilla pod to film the video in the best way? Thanks in advance.
+Ingeniero Elctrónico You can pickup a cheap tripod that allows you to mount your camera (or phone) hanging down. You could then position the paper under the tripod and record that way. Hope that makes sense. All the best!
very clear. some will miss without remind from you will air mode and lightning
Excellent video. To the point and quite uplifting, actually.
Chris Martin is that you? :o
Maybe we should all go and comment on Chris Martin's videos asking if he's Justin Brown.. haha
informative and to the point.i really appreciate your work!!
So informative and clear! thank you so much!
There is only one thing that I need... i need tripod...
Love this video! Really well shot and put together
Thanks Justin, it helped a lot for me as a starter.....
Thank you for the awesome free advice on how to record video like a pro on your Android. You're awesome for doing that. I liked and subscribed to your channel because of it.
Fantastic, clear concise information. I will be back for more videos.
I've watched a ton of these videos (procrastinating much?) and yours is the first to advise flight mode. Obvious if you're a seasoned video maker but a genius revelation for us newbies. Brilliant video - thank you so much!
Man what a great video. Awesome advice. Sometimes simple is better. Small gear less hassle.
Thank you so much. I like how you explain it.
Thank you Justin! Awesome video.😊👍
Wow awesome 👍 thanks a million and God bless you sir
Fight mode ....god one didn't even think of that. Great video, just subscribed. Thanks
You're A Huge Inspiration and Help to a new UA-camr like me... Thanks a ton for creating such great stuff
**Wondering why we recommend the front-facing camera?**
It's MUCH easier to frame the shot and monitor your positioning with the screen facing towards you. Yes, the rear facing camera is better quality in most smartphones - but the front camera is more than good enough in modern devices to get great results in most conditions, and we think the benefits of proper framing (production quality & time saved) outweigh the cost in quality. 😊
That said - *there IS now a way to easily use your PC or Mac as a viewfinder for your rear Android camera so you can get the best of both worlds!* Check out this video to see how to do it: ua-cam.com/video/GxUmfszrV8A/v-deo.html
Happy shooting!
Hello! First of all. I'd like to thank you for this informative video. I've been looking for some input regarding this and honestly, your video is the best fully detailed one.
I have a question, if you don't mind:
My phone is samsung galaxy note 2. The back cam is just 8 mega. DO you think it's enough to record good youtube videos?
Regards!
