Wonderful page, Cat. We are of like minds--Autumn-Birds (I've been birdwatching seriously since 1979 and still love it as much as I did then). We live near Sedona, AZ and we keep our birds in fresh water with an irrigation system, some balancing rocks so babies won't drown, and a big 4" tall tub where the water falls. They love it. Saw a new species yesterday, Albert's Towhee. Cool, huh. My middle name (my gramma named it) means little bird in Yiddish. Birds touch so much that I do. I have noticed this same phenomena with you. Never could understand why mixed media artists make a lovely detailed background, then cover most of it up. Very nice nevertheless.
Mixed media art is all about the layering. The colors in that background still show through and provide dimension. Thanks for watching! 😊
Yes, it is beautiful here as well in the Fall. I tickled myself when I said, "I think it needs some green"., after you said, "I think it needs something." I sit here and talk to you like I am crafting with you. It is fun for me. Lots of crafters do not have your gift for attention to little details. Beautiful page Cat! I love the colors! Hope you and family are safe and snug during the storm hitting Florida ... Early fall in Hollister, Ca is a bit hot, usually in the 90's give or take 10 degrees, so no sweaters, warm drinks or pumpkin till November, lol! But we are knee deep in tomato's, lettuce and other wonderful produce. Fall and spring are my favorite times of year! 💕🍁🍂💕🍁🍂💕

I think you are working in the book The Silver Chalice???? Oh my.. that is one of my favorite books.. I read it when I was about 10 or 11 and it was considered a book that seniors and older would be able to read.. I LOVED reading, still do...

Wow!!!! I just came across your channel by chance and SO thrilled to have found you. Your teabag art was the first I watched. Now I have yet another craft! Yay me!!! LOL. May I ask.....I press flowers from my garden and would love to put them on teabags. What medium should I use to glue them down? They are extremely delicate and thin. I never understand why you do the whole page, then gesso over it. To me, it's hard to understand why you'd cover all that design with white gesso.
Hi Virginia, I do that because I’m creating a background. If I had left it as it was, the focal points I added later would not have been seen at all - and the whole page would’ve become a busy mess. Mixed media art is all about adding layers. When the page was completed, the colors in the first layer could still be seen and they provide lots of dimension on the page.
