I enjoyed reminiscing with this video. So many great memories. I became a military wife in 1968 and left town, but Port Republic will always be my HOME. Since then it has grown(population of 563 when I left). It has changed some, but may it never outgrow it's small town neighborhood community feel. I hope it keeps its 1 acre lot zoning and NEVER any condos or townhouses. Thank you for the video. I went to Port School in the '50's, 3 room schoolhouse, 1 teacher per classroom. David Haviland was a couple years ahead of me. I don't remember if Richard was older or younger? Barbara Bowen Stanley
Barbara, Thanks so much for watching the video and posting your comment. Richard was the youngest of the Haviland boys. Port hasn't changed much in my lifetime and I don't think it ever will.

I wouldn't call it a shore town. It's the sticks great place for retirement is you like a small population.
It's definitely a small town. It's not on the ocean but does have the creek that runs to the ocean.
