RIP Oli Herbert. I had a chance to meet him in person, shake his hand and told him that every single one of his guitar solos off of "The Fall of Ideals", was a masterpiece. He smiled and appreciated the comment.
Put aside the fact he's an amazing guitarist... It's actually a good piece of music... That is so rare in virtuoso guitar playing to be good songwriter as well. I tilt many hats at thee.
Agreed so many badass guitarists just shred face melting riffs over generic backing tracks this is actually a beautiful piece of music…speaks to my soul.. just sayin🤘

I've never ordered an album direct from an artist. Or pre-ordered one. This will be the first. Tosin Abasi was my fave guitarist. Angel is now. What a songwriter! No need for vocals. Dude is phenomenal! Hope you make it to Memphis, TN sometime. Sea of Heartbreak is one of my fave songs ever. Mad props!

0:00-1:10 = Godlike. Wish they used those riffs a couple more times. Still tops my list. Don’t know how you do it Angel. You seem to bottle lightning every time you touch a guitar. Creative genius man.
Anyone interested in hearing more of Oli Herbert, you can listen to the band All That Remains (metalcore). He has been a member in the band since it's form in '98 so you can hear his style through all their tracks. Their earlier stuff was wayyyyy heavier with the album The Fall of Ideals being their peak in heaviness (opinion). I can still get down to their newer, lighter stuff though. Enjoy! Angel's "chorus" melodies are always so catchy! It really give the listener something tangible to latch onto and makes it sound like an actual song and not just mindless shredding (like Yngwie) Angel always sounds like every note he plays means something and is well thought out. His playing is super tasteful and always musical. Never just wank.
We lost someone great in oli herbert but we still have Angel vivaldi.
