Thank You! My neighbor gave me most as many of her pears as I wanted off of 4 about 40 years old trees. It was like pear heaven. They were as big as my hand. Which went a bit over half way around them. I took some to church for everyone. We didn’t even begin to get a good start on picking them. Going on a cruise next week; will probably go back over there when we get back. I canned about 24 quarts from our little tree. Between the free pears & we have 2 medium size Fig trees I’ve been busy for 2 months. I canned 72 Pints of Jello Fig Preserves. Strawberry, Raspberry; Cherry; & Regular Figs. I don’t like figs but this Jello Fig Preserves is the best Preserves We’ve ever eaten. God Bless You In Your Canning Journey. I’ve canned quite a bit through the years. Just doing my own thang. Now I’m getting a whole new education about do’s & donts of canning. BE BLESSED!

Wonderful fruit butters! Finding great tasting apples is not easy. I went apple picking for the first ever. It was a bit early and the selections were not as ripe. We got a few but not enough. Wish I can go again now. Unfortunately, everyone is busy and the supermarket apples are not great.
Admiring your wonderful fruits and the wholesome yummy butters! Enjoy and thanks for sharing Vickie! ❤️❤️

Those recipes are awesome Vickie! I'm wondering why the two have to process for different times? I also was going to comment that the butter's even though they were ready to jar, they looked too runny to spread but, when you were eating the left over butter I noticed that it was the perfect thickness 😊 YAY !!!!! Thank you ssooooo much. God bless 🙏

Crock pots are a more gentle heat, as it's not direct, so it takes longer. While cooking in a pot is a more direct heat, so things cook faster.

Why do I think the Maple Bourbon Pear Butter would go well with a pork chop? Never had pear butter and rarely eat pork but something tells me they are made for each other.

I was just going through my ball book last night and told me husband I was going to make the maple bourbon pear butter this weekend, my mom has a pear tree and gave us a lot of pears. We have no idea what kind they are, we are thinking D'anjou or some sort.

I am going to have to try the maple bourbon pear butter now that it has been jarred. It was a very subtle flavor while I was cooking it.

@@VickiesCountryHome Having made lots of Apple Butter (Ball recipe), as a former neighbor had an old yellow delicious apple tree whose apples were really only good for making applesauce and apple butter from, it seems like this Maple Bourbon Pear Butter really didn't cook very long. I haven't made Apple Butter in several years, but I remember it cooking all day, like 12-18 hours - I remember putting the ingredients in the crock pot late one night, and canning it when I got home from work the next evening. I'm wondering if cooking the Pear Butter longer, like several hours, or more, before adding the Bourbon and then canning it would punch the flavor up...???

I usually go to Apple Hill on Highway 50 in California. I love Larsen’s Apple Barn, and usually buy Mutsu and Honeycrisp apples. If you don’t mind a few flaws, you can ask to see if they have “seconds”. A lot for a great price.

Can you do the same with apples for the caramel spread? And what diet ate you on? Looking good.

I am guessing that apples would work also, but I haven’t tried it. I think that would taste very good also! I have been on the keto diet with my husband (although I am cheating more now). Thank you!

Hi Vickie 🍐 your pear butters look great! I haven't got a sweet tooth either but it does look tempting & such wonderful home made christmas gifts!! First thing which came to mind was it would be great thickened either with cornstarch or gelatine depending on what texture your like? add some larger cooked chunks ( if you had blitzed it fine) and simply add it to a fully cooked pie shell to let set...mmm a beautiful pear tart! how delicious it would be with a big dollop of whipped cream!! YUM 😋
I really enjoyed your video dear friend 🍐 xxx

I was thinking the same thing... I used to make Apple Butter regularly when I lived by a couple who had an old yellow delicious apple tree in their yard, and I recall cooking it in the crock pot for an entire day, like 12 to 18 hours. And, the flavor was soooo good.

I'm in Australia, I'm STILL waiting for the recipe..too much chatter about things that don't interest me. Okay, buy in bulk at a farmers market or farm direct..got it...buy 2nds, got it. Let them ripen, got it. Remove blemishes, peel and chop, got it.
