Maybe because i did it first i have more of a bias towards iorveth being the better choice of the two, but roche's path is also really good. Wish they had done more with roche in the witcher 3 and included iorveth even for just a little bit.

I didn't play the Witcher 2 so I was very confused why Roche got so annoyed when I brought Letho with me to Khaer Moren for the fight against the Hunt. This makes a bit more sense now
letho is the main villian in witcher 2, at the end you talk to him and he tells you how he knew you before you lost your memory and why he killed foltest, you can let him live or kill him as the final boss.

I really liked Foltest, so seeing him killed really motivated me to track down his killer, but the more I played and the closer I got to catching Letho the more I began to really like and respect Letho. By the end I couldn't kill my former brother in arms. I just didn't hate him anymore even though I still very much wish it hadn't played out so tragically. Being able to part in peace in the end is something I really never saw coming, and I can honestly say that I've never played any other game that left me with such a bittersweet and profound feeling at the end of it all.

I started playing the Witcher 2, 2 days ago and yesterday when I saw this bit in the game I was genuinely shocked, I knew Foltest would die, but not there at that time, although I was a bit suspect when Letho as the blind man kneeled down to Boussy and told him to go to his father, even more so when he said, “armed men approach, sire”
Such a powerful scene, one of the greatest in gaming history. When I reached the end, I was conflicted, but I could never forgive Letho for killing Foltest. May those lilies bloom forever, long live Temeria!
Letho is a good man. He didn't kill Foltest in front of his own children. He didn't want to let them see it. Could've been to spare them the sight or to not make them wittnesses he would have to kill. Either way he has a heart for kids.

I've never been more motivated in a video game than to avenge Foltest. This REALLY pissed me off when it happened. Only to get to that moment and find out the villain I was chasing was just like me......
I love the music in this scene. They put this together really well. The blacked-out background when he slits the throat is perfect. Also love the shoulder part of Foltest’s outfit so much, the design just looks so great.
I keep noticing how underbaked PC version is... I played Assassins of Kings on Xbox 360 and the level of detail was much higher there. In this particular scene, a couple of candles on Letho's staff were lit, producing ribbons of smoke, as any other candle in the game, and were extinguished when he threw staff on the ground...

Haha no, just OP must be playing on super low settings. On Ultra it was one of the most gorgeous PC games of its time, still holds up even now, definitely looked way better than console, this seems to have textures throttled way down. The environments at the siege in the beginning absolutely blew me away I still vividly remember that being a benchmark at the time. But nowadays there's plenty of texture mods & reshades to get it looking as good as 3. It ran great back on my old 1080 but the 4090 you can crank it way up

Well, in fact Roche didn't believe any of that. And it's not that there was something like due process. The temerian barons, expecially Kimbolt, didn't really care about Foltest and who was the murderer, they just wanted to take the throne and increase their powers. I suspect Geralt was also convenient as guilty so that they could use his connection to Triss in order to remove her from the royal court.
