Do you know the reason why the check engine light is on? Did you pull some codes? For the maintenance light, you can google and it will tell you how to get rid of it.
Hello, In October 2001, I purchased a 2000 Honda Accord LX with 69,000 miles for $5k. I really like this Accord. On the drive back to my state I was doing 70 mph and getting 34 miles per gallon. Around town in stop and go I am getting about 23 mph. That is no surprise. You need to fix the error lights on the dashboard and having a Blue Diamond OBD2 reader would be a good help. If you have not done all the maintenance that the Accord needs, you need to do this now. Do not know why you are using oil, but that seems strange to me. Yes, it will take some time to do the maintenance, but I feel that it is very much worth you time and effort. Fixing the leaking rear light is something I would do immediately. I have had several Honda products, and will continue to do so. In my opinion one of the best cars on the road, but you do have to do the maintenance. Good Luck with your new adventure.

I did its for the 02 sensor.
@@515speed2 I had the issue on my 02 Honda Accord V6. I had to replace the catalytic converter and the sensors.
P.S. once I replaced the Cat and the sensors, the power came back big time.
If you hold the trip button on your dash you can reset the maintenance required light
