Thanks a ton for posting Adam! It shows a lot of the challenge of this event. Congrats on riding your first GS Trophy Qualifier!!
Thank you! and thanks for watching.
Seeing this brings me back to the 2 day adventure camp they host. Adam, you have my respect for stepping up to the challenge and trying. Keep pushing man!
I took a one day off road course down there in August. I've never had so much fun on a motorcycle. I'm hooked. Can't wait to get my new tires and for next year when I can really start getting out and using them.
That were some serious hard challenges over there!!!! You did great, congrats!! Looking forward my local qualifiers!
Best of luck, Nathan! I’m rooting for you.
I ride the exact same red 1200 gsa with the exact same tankpads :) it is way harder than it looks, thanks for sharing!!! Looks so fun, I'm looking forward for my first trophy
Thanks for posting. That looked tough.
Lots of fun. They'll do it again September of 2023.
@@AdamChandler86 I’m UK based, but hope to get on the one they have over here.
Great work. Thanks for sharing. I’m definitely not ready for that!
Anyone can do it but unfortunately you have to be cool with maybe breaking some parts on the bike or a limb. It was a great experience but I saw a lot of people sore by day 2.
This would be fun to try… on someone else’s bike and a younger man’s body! 😂
The sound of metal scraping on stone… ouch!
YEP and when you get to my crash from the stairs, that’s why my rotator cuff is screwed up now. I know a lot of people went home with some minor injuries.
Waooo...! Excelentes pruebas! Difícil el zig zag en pendiente! Buen video para los que estamos esperando el turno en América Latina!
Wow that's like a lot of fun.... but hard... Nice try Adam good work!!
Sorry you couldn't come down. You would have done really well!
Looks like fun, and humbling
It’s a great time, I think riders at any level will enjoy themselves.
A lot of that was just the stuff they make people go through in the ADV course there. A lot of it was tougher than what I saw at the actual GS Trophy comp.
Yep. There were a LOT of us and they wanted to disqualify as many as possible. If you watch some of the RTP Rodeo clips from the MOA festival, we were doing RTP trials and weren't allowed to pre-ride anything. You either have the skills or you don't.
@@AdamChandler86 Were there any people who could do everything with a first time go/max points?
What an awesome efforts. 👌
Thank you for sharing this!!! I had no idea about this discipline!! Kudos to you and your buddies for taking this on!! It's inspiring!!!! Do you use their bikes or your own bike?
Thanks for watching! I'm not even a very good rider and did okay. You have to use your own bike and it must be a GS bike.
Man, this is brutal. Would like to see how experts do each of these exercises
Did you practice for this or even take a class? They had Trophy training classes during the summer. This is pretty technical skill that requires specific training and practice, not just many hours and years of riding as I am sure you learned!! It was cool to watch, thanks for videoing it. Search for the South African qualifiers…those guys are really serious.
That “whatever you want, everything’s fine” communication style would be stressful. Looked tough.
Hi. This was how they ran the event. Each challenger would give you rules & instructions from a script. They could only re-read the rules and I never knew if I got a DNF. I later found skipping some things were an instant zero but they won't confirm anything and just offer to read the rules back to you.
Whoa! Anxiety inducing lol
Lots of it was mental. I still had a blast!
@@AdamChandler86 i bet, looked like a good time and experience.
looked brutal. Easy to be an armchair rider, but it seemed a lot more throttle with a lot more clutch slipping was needed for some of those courses.
YEP> as usual the bike can handle it :P
That stairs challenge was nasty lol, i won’t have the balls to do it, what a drop.
Props to you for muscling that huge gsa around, btw would a gs (non adventure version) be better for the challenges?
That's where I ended up hurting my shoulder. It still hurts. X-ray done, MRI is next. It was a big fall from high up. Luckily the bike didn't fall on top of me! I was running my GSA with just 1 gallon of fuel in the tank and had removed the luggage racks and a bunch of other stuff so for me, probably not. Keep in mind too that the GSA, has a lower 1st gear and can be lugged a bit more than a regular GS as well as having taller suspension (an option on the GS if you order it with "sport suspension") so if you run the tank low, the GSA is fine off road at least for me.
I didn't qualify either. See you at the next one as well!
IT was still a fun time!
I want to know what sadistic bastard came up with some of those challenges. lol. Still looks like a lot of fun and i'd love to try that.. maybe not in a competition scenario though. Great job!!
His name is Ricardo :P he told us on day one that we were going to be cursing his name the entire time.A lot were made intentionally to screw with your head. and it did!
@@AdamChandler86 Is that Ronaldo's twin? Ronaldo was one of my instructors in August. It was a great time. But I'll remember to keep an eye out for Ricardo next time. Lol
I honestly don't know. Good question and now I have a reason to go back and find out :P
4 PM, really? What am I supposed to do at work all day?
I was trying to make the west coast and Europeans happy.
@@AdamChandler86 screw them! Lol just kidding guys...calm down.
The premier may not be ideal for most. I am regretting it a bit. Issue being that the Qualifier Video is showing all 20 challenges. I edited it a LOT but it’s still 20 challenges and it’s a 40 minute long video so the issue with premieres is you can’t skip around so I really think most people should just come back at 5PM and scrub through. But every time I drop the bike, you get to see it :)
@@AdamChandler86 dropping the bike is what I'm looking forward to most! Kidding, I am stocked to see how the event went.
Doesn't standing make it easier on some of those?
It does BUT they had rules about that. Some you had to do sitting and others you had to do standing.
@@AdamChandler86 didn't know that. I would like to try it but I don't want to scratch my 1200gs. Will they let me ride my 650gs?
They will! Any GS is allowed except the HP2 Enduro.
I have seen other challenges video but this one look hard. Do you have to pay for it?
you did great!
This was a very hard GS Trophy! You pay I think $300 USD but that covers camping, food and all of the organization and staff so it’s a good deal for 2 days of riding.
@@AdamChandler86 cost is not bad but how do you deal with getting damages and scratches on a expensive lovely bike?
Good question. For me, not a big deal but that’s because my bike is already very dirty and beat up from regular riding off-road. I guess you sort of have to expect it will be a lot of drops.
@@AdamChandler86 I guess in order to enjoy you have to be worry free about the damages.
Hi, what mirrors did you get? It looks fantastic.
These are the DoubleTake Adventures. They're fantastic and built very well.
Did they tell you want place you got?? Looks awesome, I would definitely give it a shot if i owned a BMW. Do they give you a 1250gs to keep if you qualify?? or just a loaner for the event?
Nope, I do not know where I place only that I was not in the top 5. No bikes are given to participants. You get to use a BMW owned bike for the finals and for the event itself but there are no prizes.
@@AdamChandler86 do they pay for travel expenses or anything like that? Or you just qualify and they lend you the bike for the competition?
Hey Adam, are competing again in Oct for the east coast qualifier???
I just recovered from rotator cuff surgery and have ankle surgery scheduled this week. I’ll be there as a volunteer wearing my plastic boot and crutches :(
