I have found that juggling with slabs that are still very soft and wet is very difficult, and it’s hard to get a neat result. I let my slabs dry out more now, and construction is so much easier.
This is terracotta clay right? I made a tag with terracotta clay but it's dusty I believe in supposed to find a glaze and bake it I'm not sure I'm so new at this. Do you know if that's right that after it air drys is the next step glaze then bake in the oven? And also do you know where to find the best deal on clay and glazes? I want to do this more often.
What is the name of the tool you used right at the end to push out the vase, the long tool. Can you tell me the name and the company name any info as I would like to order one!
It is a throwing stick. Normally used when making vases on the wheel that have narrow tops. I can't remember where I got this one. If you Google throwing sticks you should see a bunch in all different styles. This is a small one.

The top is 4 and a 1/2 inches tall and the bottom is 5 and a 1/2 inches tall. The top piece is 4" wide at the top and 4 and 1/2 inches wide at the bottom. The bottom piece is a 3 and a 1/2 inches wide at the top and 3 and a quarter inches wide at the bottom. Hope that helps!

How did you make such a perfect flat thick surface to start with? Did you purchase it like that or did you make it?

Add pottery to the search to make sure you get pottery throwing sticks. 🙂

Where you got the texture ball?
I got it a couple years ago. The company that makes them I believe is called clay planet.

can you tell me how tall each piece is (top and bottom) are they the same height?
Next time I am in the studio I will get the measurements and let you know.
