amazing.... 40 years later and people still love it ! What a class act Catherine Schell is
Catherine Schell was the one who made an impression on me from what I remembered seeing it in the latter 70's (I was much too young to see it when it first aired). It also re-aired in syndication here in Canada in the early years of the eclectic 80's on CBC television. Her beauty and her exotic alien look was so awesome especially when she morphed. So she made the biggest impact on me out of the entire cast.
Nick Tate is such a humble gentleman and an all round great guy !
You always knew an eagle was coming back to Alpha if Alan was at the controls......great character and you can see why he was so popular as Nicks real life charisma came through to bring Alan to life.
Wonder if we saw a movie whether it could feature Alphans finally returning back to Earth and landing in their old Eagles.

Catherine was a stunner when she was young - heartbreaking for an 11 year old when I first saw her in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' in 1969.
I know this was from 5 years ago, but Maya STILL looks fantastic!
Had the hots for Catherine Schell as a kid even before I knew what having the hots meant. Loved that show.

I was in love with Maya, she was one of my first crushes back when I was a teenager in 1988 when I saw this for the first time on public tv. And episodes like devils planet and arcadia were very mysterious and harrowing, also space brain lol. And the one with the energy-sucking lifeform that threatened to destroy the reactor when it took possession of someone.
And then there's the one episode with "Balor", who was freed from a rock prison and started terrorizing the base.
And "all that glitters" must have been my favorite episode at the time! I thought Maya was bad-ass there, throwing herself in harm's way like that.
this series (with early computers, comlock, laser gun ets..) shaped what I became in life...
Been re-rewatching Space: 1999 these last few months (a few shows a week), haven't seen it since the 1970s when it came out. Season 1 was more thinking and spiritual, Season 2 more action. I liked how in Season 2 the characters were happier and smiled, the first season was a lot of seriousness. I remember bits of things from certain episodes way back, watching both seasons from the beginning fills in the holes in my memory and of course I understand things a lot better (I was a teenager back then). Glad to have found this video of the convention, nice that we have this record of the actors in the show meeting together again.

Space: 1999 is still in reruns every Sunday with a mini-marathon starting at 3 pm ET/2 CT on Folk TV. Not sure if it's on DirecTV or cable, but it is on Dish Network channel 218.
Really small crowd. I would have thought that there would have been more people at the convention.
Loved it when I was a kid and still do! Have all episodes from Serie 01 and 02. Discovering interviews from main actors only now and so happy I can !! God I loved Carter and dreamt of becoming a pilote of one of these Eagles!!
Nick Tate was also in Return from the River Kwai which also featured George Takei

It's hard to believe Space 1999 went off the air about 4 decades ago in the U.S. I haven't seen it on T.V. recently but it is out on DVD.

I never knew that the production of the show started back in '73. I was a freshman in high school in '75 when it started that fall. At least that's when it started playing in the Phoenix area
Production began December 3rd, 1973. I was 9 years old.
It was the best show made! Sorry they took it off the air. In our time now some other networks would have pick it up to run. The best actors and stories to watch; how I missed the show.
Space 1999 was a nice show. I wish the second season had better scripts.
Great to them together. I've often wondered about careers. Some jobs are simply jobs in the course of a career, but if you know that a show is memorable when you do it.

Nick Tate, Aussie legend! He was a great character on the show. Amazing that they wanted to write him out after season 1 but he was too popular to remove

I was maybe 8 years old and the show was little scary for me but Alan was my favourite.. He looks so tough guy!!
Nick Tate's personality and Aussie accent helped define the character of Alan Carter.
I've recently watched Space 1999 on UA-cam and saw it back in the 70s. Out of these five I only know Catherine Schell(Dr. Who also, 1 episode with Tom Baker) and Nick Tate( who also did an episode with Star Trek TNG)

There was an attempt earlier this decade around 2013-15 that I remember but it got stuck in development hell. At this point the website is down n there's no hint of it. I think they were calling it Space:2099 so it wasn't going to be an exact remake.

You wouldn't be the first person who wanted to revive the series. Unless you can, at first, convince ITV to let you run with a licencing deal, you're in dead water like everyone else. But good luck!
