Welcome to Measuring to the Nearest 1/4 Inch with Mr. J (aka Nearest Quarter Inch)! Need help with measuring to the nearest 1/4 inch using a ruler? You're in the right place!
Whether you're just starting out, or need a quick refresher, this is the video for you if you're looking for help with measuring to the nearest 1/4 inch. Mr. J will go through six examples of measuring to the nearest 1/4 inch and explain the process step-by-step.
Please keep in mind, in this video, I use a ruler only marked with whole inches and fourths of an inch. Depending on the ruler that you're using, you may have more tick marks in between each inch than just fourths. Those measure other fractions of an inch. For this video we are focused on fourths, so if you have multiple tick marks, make sure to locate the 1/2 inch mark and then the 1/4 and 3/4 inch marks. The 1/2 inch mark will be right in the middle of each inch and the 1/4 and 3/4 marks will be in between the whole inch marks and the 1/2 inch mark. Typically speaking, the 1/2 inch mark will be the longest tick mark in between the whole inch marks and then the 1/4 and 3/4 marks will be the next longest.
