Dry OR wet, no matter slicing in a creek. You're right though, wet does clump, but it's OK when your finding gold. When you're not, then it's a pain! Aloha
Wet is best, however depending on the dirt dry might be just as good. A shot of Jet Dry in a recirculating system will help the dry stuff a lot. That's my experience.
I like my 3ftr so much, i bought the 4ftr. And i've done both wet and dry, mostly dry because i do hard rock mostly, and your's is an original Bernie Makowski made one. I've got the last one that he made before he sold the patent to Joe Smith, great guy and continuing the tradition! You will have to play with it to find optimum angle and water flow, but i can recover some super, -200 mesh, material. And using the Highbanker helps with running dry material!
i've had a hard time with stuff sticking in the well also and got wire brushes with a different tip brush to clean the wells. small dremmel brush will do it also after drying
I just commented on when you went out to the gold mines and showed us around. I commented about taking the Rocks back and crushing them. You sent back a text saying that you do have a Crusher. You're awesome you have everything to do with finding gold and you have shown a lot of your stuff at different various times metal detectors High Bankers dry washers sluices all kinds of things even gold pants
We both like running it dry, I think it spreads out better then when its wet, and it is much faster to run dry, you can move a lot more dirt when dry. We have been getting hit with rain every day up here in Page AZ. its nice!
I been thinking about wetting the material before placing in your sluice At the trickle rate you are feeding it here , dry is just fine. If you were dumping the whole scoop then wet is the go The idea is for the material to be in solution as early as possible so that the heavies can sink to the bottom
a squirt bottle probably would work better .. when you test these different sluices could you check the last raffle first then work your way to the top. to see how much if any is getting all the way down and maybe out of the slucie
So I picked up a goldwell yesterday after hanging out with Woody Wampler all Saturday. He loves those goldwells I'm impressed with how simple they are to setup, the clean out, and how well the suck up the gold. I have the middle sized one. What's everyone's honest opinion of them?
I just hold my scoop under the waterfall and let it wash out..... the way you are feeding is fine... I have done both, not much difference, you know when your overfeeding it.. and yes, wet in the scoop can be "clumpy"... LOL!! Jet Dry or Clay be gone in the recirculation is a plus... OH YEAH... A black tub, preferably the big one works best for clean out.. buckets are a pain...
A little PRO TIP JACK make the hose long enough to pump water for cleanout ! Add a kitchen sink sprayer to the hose on a TEE lift up the Sluice and Spray it off Its ok man your SKIN IS WATER PROOF Run it like your WOMEN
I prefer to run my material dry just easier I don't see a recovery difference between wet or dry I understand the concept though the 12-in gold Wells are harder to clean out the little ones like you and I have are much easier also I run a lot more water flow than you it looks like a waterfall coming off my sluice

I like the testing of the various products and equipment. I can see why you have the gear you do.

Always have fun fam. Keep getting that au. Gold squad out!!!
Good video! I should have got myself some test buckets filled but I was pretty beat. I run it dry & use jet dry
I run mine wet in a loose slury, also like a slick plate for it flatten out some.

You know better than that. It goes in dry, with the only exemption being the dry washer. Amen to that jet dry.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing

I've been using a Keene 52 A sluice for 20+ yrs., just seems to work for me. Aloha

I always run it dry, I figure it is wet before it hits the riffles.
Great job jack! You should have called us we have some equipment you could test out
Wet is always your best bet Jack. David out
selling one by chance?
hey Jack, my luck one of the rain drops would have hit a piece of gold and shoot it across the yard there...
Very good! I love it! Rei do garimpo from Brazil
Take the hose off and use the pump to wash out. 👀🤔🤠
Did you test the tailings?
No I never done that. Will have to one day.
You out dry dirt in you'll loose up to 40% of your gold especially if it's small gold. Itll float rite out

Wet or dry doesn't matter
Could always run the material again.
