9:43 I'm thinking Riddles assumed Rising Tackle's s would cause the explosion to catch Steve and protect himself, but he forgot the fact that only fire based attacks and strong hits make it explode immediately, multihits only accelerate its timer(I believe), so it only blew up after the move ended. Also, his feet are vulnerable during this move, so even if he did time it right, he probably still would've been hit. That's just my theory.
I was thinking Riddles thought Onin would land back on stage or on the platform. He also used charged Rising Tackle, so I think he also tried reading a possible anvil from Onin as well (because charged Rising Tackle can armor through Steve’s anvil).
My other (more outlandish) theory was that Riddles wanted to get GO early, so he intentionally blew up the TNT for self damage, hoping that the next interaction after that would get him to 100% without killing him.
maybe it was a misinput and he meant to do a side-b to catch Steve
riddles is actually so good at dealing with steve dair. he parried it and then did a hard punish, and later he did the terry spotdodge attack to punish it

When you’re beating Terry/ Kazuya or another character of equal bs hell it counts. People acting like Terry and Kazuya ain’t busted. It’s hype when he gets a 0-death of an invincible approach, or grab you from halfway across the stage with super armor and kill you at 70 or do 50 damage and send you way off stage and you feel like there’s nothing you could have done because you dam sure don’t wanna get hit by Kazuya so you have to hold shield. But it ain’t hype when he get hit with bs right back ? So hypocritical
@@luckyl8993 I seriously think you underestimate the inputs for kazuya, as wel as the skill of Riddles. You'll see 3-4 hits from Kazuya and pretty much 8+ inputs from Riddles in perfect succession. Name 4 other notable Kazuya playersoff the top of your head and I'll concede. The progression in which Riddles has brought this character is beyond any other.

The sequence at 15:00 is ugly and shows how broken Minecart is. Riddles spotdodged in front of the cart but it was still active to carry Terry. And then the stun after getting out of cart is too long. It's pretty much a free forward air spike.
Watch acola vs light where minecart hits block and bounce back to fox, and yet minecart is still active lol
Riddles fucked it up. He stopped mashing for some reason before getting out of minecart, probably in order to bait Onin, but gave him time to set up for the kill

I saw all that. These gimmick characters are getting to be too much and honestly not enjoyable to watch. Although I don’t really like Kazuya much either, Riddles Terry is a different story and went Terry majority of this run. It’s very hard to keep yur composure losing to these characters
I don’t feel bad. What can’t he do ? Take a lil bit of his own medicine? All riddles do is play Kazuya and get bs combos off invincible moves, or play Terry and mash attack since the opponent can’t do nothing and if they roll Terry turns around and continues the assault independent of riddles. Riddles literally play an entirely bs version of smash and wants to turn sissy when he get out bs’d. Actually get good and then start complaining. Terry busted af. If you playing Terry and you losing you simply getting out played plain and simple. Riddles just not the man he wanna whine cause his bs ain’t working

We also have other steve mains such as jake, ddee picked him up, yonni exists, and hell we know acola exists who was basically barely known until he picked up steve and started dominating.
To put into perspective how much of an upset this is, Onin ISNT EVEN TOP 50 IN ORION. and riddles is number EIGHT. EIGHT! And these steve players are constantly finding new tech, can invalidate almost any recovery in the game, has ridiculous combos, a million kill setups, something that basically autograbs you and forces you into a situation where your opponent basically gets a free hit off of you or it keeps neutral, etc.
And by the way, you have to approach him because he can mine his way to diamond and kill you at 60 or 70, which just allows him to perfectly pressure you and force you to interact, where steve can capitalize off of tremendously.

This whole ban Steve thing imho is out of hand. The main difference between him and Meta Knight is that we’re not seeing 5-6 Steves in top 8 and 16-20 of them in top 32. It’s all about counter playing and executing a game plan against them. We just saw WaDi beat Jake back at CEO. It can be done.

ya steve fine, if we ban steve, then ban Terry Go mode, Kazuya EWGF, Zelda Light kick, Cloud super mode, Joker Arsene, Palu Nair, All tipper mechanics, etc etc. Alot of characters have broken abilities, some more than others, that's what makes the game fair in a way. People need to learn matchups. But for this situation Riddles knew the MU this Steve players was just really good. Plus that SD literally cost him the game. All Terry mains know the pain of reverse crack shoot. you just gotta be mindful of it
No Steve is broken, just not in the same way as a character like Meta Knight. Steve is not overcentralizing, but he does completely shit on smash as a game and the fundamentals you need to be good. That's why so many of these players who were nobodies before he came out are good now. You don't need to be that good at Smash, you just need to be great at Steve. Acola is genuinely a prodigy, but most of these guys aren't.

I honestly dislike steve. Too simple of a character and has too many options available compared to any other character.
VERY quick moves that deal TONS of damage.

He can easily camp AND fight up close.

I've never rooted for a Terry before, he's my personal least favorite character to fight. Onin is really friggin good but man Steve is too much. Nerf diamond and take a little priority off cart and we good imo

And now he's trying rob. mix it up. Mars picked up joker and wadi picked up Rosa and ice climbers.. etc... If you want to win the game, learn the game..Not just a character. Steve hacks in this game, let’s say he mines 3 iron ore, those then somehow become 3 ingots upon breaking, which he can then somehow place down as 3 iron blocks, or he could make an anvil (idk how much iron it takes to use anvil in smash but u need 31 total iron in Minecraft to make an anvil, and he makes it with I’m guessing 3-5 iron. So he duplicates iron and autos smelts ores😂
And makes whole sets of diamonds tools with a single diamond

lol Riddles set himself up to SD by holding away for too long. Don't forget he wouldn't have even been in that situation if he didn't Rising Tackle the TNT in that earlier game. Also Onin established dominance during that final stock too.
Aside from steve removing edge mechanics from the game for other characters AND forcing the other player to approach simply by existing, none of his specials commit him or leave him open. He can jump right out of anything hes doing at anytime aswell as platform/fly back to the stage at anytime. Gotta blast zone him. Thats not a smash character, he indeed needs to be banned or put into steve only tournies. Minmin/seph/GnW they at least operate under smash bros mechanics, just annoying to fight.
