Your glasses have lens made of glass(most are) so if they break on your face thanks to a frequency or something wouldn’t that mean glass will fly into your eyes anyways. I personally like to wear my glasses because I think I look better with them on than without them
Not glass but when I was young I was opening up a tube of model car glue and a gob hit me in the eye. I'm pretty sure I have a little floater in there from it to this day.

It's not always a good idea but in this situation, he was pretty confident about the rest of the enemy team not messing with it and didn't have anywhere better to be at the time. Usually though, it's better to take the turret right away like you said because it lets you reset and rotate more quickly for example but league just isn't that simple.
