9.9 times out of 10 I agree with Simon, but on this issue of players not being affected (or shouldn't be affected) by anything, I think he's way off. Some players don't care at all, other players go on to be top managers, directors or football club owners etc. And therefore they are aware of what's going on, they want to be aware and they eventually want to take part in big decisions. It's a bit simplistic to believe that all the Chelsea players are just ignoring the fact that their previous owner was mates with a war criminal and now still don't care if they get a good or bad new owner. An owner can have a big impact. I don't really see why Simon cannot accept that.
Chelsea managed to play extremely well in the 2nd leg against Real Madrid. So are the players affected or not? Or is it a convenient excuse to use went you lose or play poorly?
@@terry3252 They played extremely well, and they may continue to for a while, but if the uncertainty continues I would bet that they would be more unstable as a team. I work for a company, I’m paid to do my job regardless of what’s on the news each day. But if I start seeing more and more serious headlines about my company’s owner, leadership, politics etc. then I will start to get distracted naturally. Maybe not straight away but if it continues for months. I’m not giving them an excuse, I’m saying it’s another distraction that Tuchel and his players need to overcome, and I think Tuchel’s done a good job so far.
im with you here that I almost always agree with Simon but one thing is that he talks as if its just the individual player that's being affected. Yes we all know that the players will be able to walk into most other teams and get a mint for it, but doing that you have think relocate your family, take your children to new schools all of which may be playing on their minds. No one knows what cloth the new owners are cut from.

As A Chelsea fan I tend to agree with Simon we need to focus on the here and now, there is no point in getting overly concerned about the the ownership and the future especially since we don't even know all the facts right now regarding the ownership.

I think regardless of the obscurities,since the overall environment of play for the players and manager,isn’t in direct jeopardy(being that the license has been issued and operations are still as normal overall ), the recent events on the board level shouldn’t be the reason they perform woefully on the pitch. Abramovic has to ensure the players are paid in order to keep the club from sanctions by the premier league. When you don't pay players you're in for a points deduction, booted from the champions league etc. Plus millions of pounds worth of players leave for free. As soon as Chelsea gets these punishments, the value of the club drops massively. Abramovic needs to keep the value of the club as high as he can, he can't just allow it to fend for itself as it'll become a worthless shell rather than the asset it is.

If you had a ferrari but got banned from driving, you wouldn't just abandon the ferrari and let it fall into disrepair. You'd keep it in good enough shape to maintain its value so that you could sell it. You'd spend money on insuring it so if it gets damaged you're protected. That's all abramovic is doing. He's protecting the value of his asset. If he doesn't pay the players then the players leave the club on a free, they're out of the champions league and they start next season with a points deduction. That's a good way to wipe a billion or two off the value of the club.
The problem seems to be chelsea fans think Abramovic doesn't care about the sale value because he won't get paid. That's the wrong way of thinking about it. Simon Jordan has already explained the situation in several videos. Abramovic still needs the club to sell at its highest value.

Simon has missed the point with his anti player bias again. The players would be concerned that they are currently losing 3 key players out of contract who can’t be offered new contracts and that the club are missing out on the race for new signings because of the club sale situation. Players aren’t only concerned about the wages and contracts. They want to be in a competitive team with good chance of success. They will miss their team mates. Off the pitch issues aren’t an excuse for struggling form but they are a reason and contributing factor. The media won’t be helping them with players like Mount and Lukaku linked with moving and unable to sign replacements and stories like the club going bankrupt. Players will want a good playing career in a team with the best chance of success. Some of them will love the club and be concerned for its future and not just their own. It’s naive to think footballers are all heartless mercenaries. I would honestly play football professionally for minimum wage and don’t think I would be alone in that.

This is the problem with British Jouralists specifically and journalists generally. A statement is repeated without verifications. Talksport has heard a story, Roman's raised the price and not repaying loans, and repeated it without verification. Talksport are sports news. They are journalists who have had every chance to contact Chelsea, contact Roman and verify the story. But they don't. They simply repeat it then when a statement comes out they question "why were we led to believe?" Who led you? That went unanswered because they were caught in a flaw in their process. They try to distract from their failure to verify a story by asking questions like "why is roman making a statement now?" As if there couldn't be many reasons and there's only one reason. Some conspiracy reason. This is bad news reporting, it's bad journalism. They are repeating stories without verification.
