I was 9 years old at that time, it was the month of Ramadan where we Muslims have to wake up early in the morning to eat sahur. I was the child who had difficulty waking up at that time. Finally my mother got around this by turning on the TV which was broadcasting the final between Germany vs Italy. Since then that's why I became an Italy fan. The 1982 World Cup will be a beautiful memory in my life. Now my mother is gone and so is my father. Alfatihah to both of them

For once we were allowed to eat away from the table in front of the TV - we were eating spaghetti of course ;-) - That was a crazy world cup, I will never forget Tardelli's celebration and the happy moment we shared.
The greatest world cup of my lifetime. It had everything. Amazing players , drama , controversy , fantastic goals , classic games. Perhaps only Mexico 86 comes close to it.

I was 6. Staying up late for Brazil Scotland with Dad and uncle on my Mum's side. The fam broke up coupla years later. Zico was flawless. I noticed Daglish, Hansen, Souness wearing the same umbro diamond red socks my Dad had bought me and I was LFC ever since. I'm English but the 82 world cup is my happy place. This World Cup is the first one that I watched at the age of 10 and which left a huge impression and a mark for the rest of my life. In particular, the most memorable match was the Italy-Brazil match and the feeling of great injustice from its result. After that, I had no doubts that Italy would win this championship. Looking back now, you see that the championship is not so unambiguous and Brazil is not so strong, although for in terms of spectacle, it is number 1 in the championship and definitely one of the two or three strongest squads of the Brazilian national team in history.Football, then and now, had its good features and its flaws.

The best fifa world cup backs to when this tournament displayed with 24 teams. With 24 teams we could manage to see all the games with such an exiting performance, there was no match to be missed, all the best teams in the world gather together and as a football watcher you enjoy from all the games with well managed and timely games. In my opinion the fifa world cup between from 1982-1994 had a best quality. After 1998 I did not enjoy well enough as past ones. I hope one day fifa world cup back to 24 teams!!!
As long as FIFA is run by money, it's a pipe dream. Yeah, 24 teams was the best quality, giving a chance to 4 3rd ranked a second chance. 32 is the maximum to maintain quality. See Belgium in '86 : 3rd in the round robin, until semis then. See Argentina in '90 & Italy in '94 : 3rd in group then runners up.

This was the first World Cup that I have attended and still my favorite. I have now gone to eleven World Cups, including all the World Cup Finals. Of all my World Cup experiences the absolute highlight was being at the England Argentina game in 1986. Incredible that arguably the two most famous goals in the history of the sport occurred within a few minutes of each other. I can’t wait for 2026 when I will be able to get in my car and drive to the Final in New Jersey after having been all over the world for the past eleven tournaments. 😂
Brasil 🇧🇷 en el 82 fue una maravilla 😍, ...pero mi España 🇪🇦 fue un desastre en su propia casa y todo porque el seleccionador no convocó a los mejores, vale que estaban Santillana , Gordillo, Camacho, Juanito y Arkonada pero faltaban el Lobo Carrasco, Butragueño, Goikoetxea, Maceda, Poli Rincón, Julio Alberto, Sarabia, Señor, Víctor, con todos ellos se consiguieron mejores resultados en los siguientes torneos (subcampeones en la Euro 84 y 1/4 final en el Mundial 86).
@@cellonoxius1 Butragueño por esa época jugaba en los juveniles del Madrid. Ahí se ha equivocado y los otros jugadores tampoco eran diferenciales. Influyó mucho la preparación que hicieron en los Pirineos con temperaturas muy bajas rozando los 0 grados, para luego jugar a Valencia con clima mediterráneo con 30 grados y 80 de humedad. Lo jugadores más de una vez han dicho que eso los mató y que iban fundidos físicamente a los partidos.

He was fourth referee in Germany's last group game and enthusiastically passed the ball to his countrymen... during the "knockout game" I remember Mladen Delić said: "He didn't lose some teeth, did he?!" when we saw the referee feeling his lips... And regarding "friendly game Austria - Germany": Boris Mutić commented the game and close to the end the whole stadium was yelling curses. Yo vivía en Barcelona por entonces y recuerdo aquellos días, Barcelona fue una ciudad brasilera, TODOS los españoles íbamos con Brasil, a pesar de que Italia también nos caía bien. Preferíamos Brasil, por su futbol, su alegría, su belleza en todo lo que desprendía. A pesar de la eliminación dejó un maravilloso recuerdo. Viajé años después a Salvador de Bahía varias veces de vacaciones y se confirmó todo lo que nació en esa Copa del Mundo en mí, esa fascinación por lo brasileño y por el país Brasil, y por sus gentes. Por todo esto mi decepción fue ENORME cuando en 2014 se trató a España con el desprecio y la hostilidad que se hizo, sobre todo en Salvador cuando jugó contra Holanda. ¿Qué había pasado durante esos años?; ¿Cómo era posible que aquella afición brasileña odiara tanto, olvidase tanto a un país que siempre fue amigo?.
Foi a Copa mais bonita que eu vi até hoje. Fantastica, repleta de craques e bons jogadores, jogos inesquecíveis, foi marcante.

Et aussi l'embrouille des allemands et autrichiens pour èliminer l'Algèrie est une vraie HONTE . Malgrè tout ça , ce fut une coupe du Monde MAGNIFIQUE !!

avec une ambiance de folie à cette èpoque là , y aurait eu aucun problèmes entre supporters , sinon quand je vois les joueurs qu'avaient les algèriens : Beloumi , Madger , M. Dalheb.....etc , ils avaient même un joueur qui s'appelait Zidane dans la sélection algèrienne , bref sinon quelle magnifique coupe du monde SPAÑA 82 , c'était encore la belle époque , de nos jours , on a perdu toutes ces belles valeurs aussi bien sociales que sportives , ça fait mal au cœur .bonne soirée.

This was the first World Cup that I have attended and still my favorite. I have now gone to eleven World Cups, including all the World Cup Finals. Of all my World Cup experiences the absolute highlight was being at the England Argentina game in 1986. Incredible that arguably the two most famous goals in the history of the sport occurred within a few minutes of each other. I can’t wait for 2026 when I will be able to get in my car and drive to the Final in New Jersey after having been all over the world for the past eleven tournaments. 😂
Brasil 🇧🇷 en el 82 fue una maravilla 😍, ...pero mi España 🇪🇦 fue un desastre en su propia casa y todo porque el seleccionador no convocó a los mejores, vale que estaban Santillana , Gordillo, Camacho, Juanito y Arkonada pero faltaban el Lobo Carrasco, Butragueño, Goikoetxea, Maceda, Poli Rincón, Julio Alberto, Sarabia, Señor, Víctor, con todos ellos se consiguieron mejores resultados en los siguientes torneos (subcampeones en la Euro 84 y 1/4 final en el Mundial 86).

Maceda si estuvo en el Mundial, aunque no jugó. Butragueño todavía no jugaba en primera división. Estaba en el Castilla, el filial del Real Madrid.
@@cellonoxius1 Butragueño por esa época jugaba en los juveniles del Madrid. Ahí se ha equivocado y los otros jugadores tampoco eran diferenciales. Influyó mucho la preparación que hicieron en los Pirineos con temperaturas muy bajas rozando los 0 grados, para luego jugar a Valencia con clima mediterráneo con 30 grados y 80 de humedad. Lo jugadores más de una vez han dicho que eso los mató y que iban fundidos físicamente a los partidos.
