Here is my story on 5 Facts to Know Before Buying Prius Prime. Please help me out and click the link www.torquenews.com/6626/5-facts-know-about-2019-toyota-prius-prime-you-buy-one
Toyotajeff in Raleigh prime all the way. Better deal, especially after all of the rebates! Just picked up a blizzard pearl plus last week. I love it. With hypermiling, u can get close to 40 miles on a single charge on ev only mode. Why doesnt toyots advertise that?
I have been averaging 150 MPG. In September I bought my 2018 Prius Prime premier and love it! Last fill up was June 6, currently have driven 860 miles and only at half a tank. The fill up before June 6th was May 4th and I traveled 1376 miles on one tank. Because of my driving habits I’m getting 30 miles on a full charge. Round trip to work and back home is 32 miles. So I’m able to drive nearly on electric only.
Great car but under appreciated. I love my first generation Prius that had been driven to 1/4 million miles without any major issues and this Prius Prime is light years ahead of my 2002 Prius. Never worry about finding charging stations on road trips, yet it’s a perfect work day commuting vehicle that never need to use gasoline if live within 20 miles distance from work and have access to charging your Prius Prime during work hours. Incredible reliability, exceptional Toyota resale value and peace of mind on long trips make compelling reasons for wanting a Toyota Prius Prime.
I thought so too, have my wife drive it only on EV mode around town for grocery shopping etc... until I stumbled on this Toyota Master technician's video: ua-cam.com/video/nBBUQJKTaiM/v-deo.html :
Just discovered the Prius Prime ... Your video has great info & tour of the vehicle. I am currently driving a 2012 Prius V, which I dearly love. However, I foresee an upgrade in the not to distant future!
I’ve had the pleasure of buying a used Prius from Fred Anderson several years ago. Just bought a used Prime (unfortunately not from Fred Anderson this time 😢), and will be servicing it at Fred Anderson because they are amazing.
Man, now I think Toyota is way way ahead of all other brands since 2020. Reliability as usual, hybrids, and even more stylish since 2020 over other brands.😍new RAV4, Camry, Corolla and even The Prius . I think other brands will have hard time selling their cars now on. Hands down 👍👍
My wife loves her 2018 Prius Prime Advanced. She works 12 miles from our house, so the MPGe just keeps going up. What I don't understand is the fact that it says 133MPGe in the specs, but our MPG indicator on the dashed says 490 MPG average so far, and seems to keep going up the more we drive the car.
Aaron Collins to me it is logical. If you do only 12 miles then you run on electric all the time if you charge overnight, so theoretically your miles per gallons will always increase infinitely, except when the computer will detect that it should run the engine to burn the unused gas to prevent damages or if you use the climate control. But your mpg should stay much more higher than the 133mpge if you use only electric mode
the way I would literally stop complaining about my life if I had this car ... the color, the size, everything is perfect. I hate my job 💔 can’t afford SHIT
@jrroelle It will take few more years for that fleet to arrive . Alex on Autos did a very detailed review of the Prius Prime recently which clearly identified its virtues.
My only issue with any of these plug in hybrids (better than regular hybrids and gas cars I'll admit) is that they cost the same as most full electric EVs. The leaf, the bolt, ioniq electric and Kona all cost about the same. For some people these are the best option but with the charging infrastructure getting better every day there's no reason not to invest in a full EV for around town driving (as that's what Toyota and all plug ins are aiming for). Love the look though and was very tempted to get one before we decided to go full electric. Cool video!
There is still the cost of ownership/repairs which is not taken into account. The prius being one of the lowest. In my city there is not enough infrastructure for charging away from the house.
HenryHonda hey Henry! Thanks for joining in. Believe me there is room for both brands here they are both really great. Write me anytime you want...jeff
😀😀Great review Jeff. Getting ready to buy a Prius and was thinking about the Prime. However the 2021 Prius Prime is around the corner. What kind of upgrades do you predict will be on the the new coming model? Thank you
In this video, this screen is a special model. I have that screen on my limited. It's best to get the high end trim package. Of all my cars that have radar/sonar, the Prius responds the fastest. I heard that the Prime only gets 10 mpg over the Hybrid. Is this true?
T R if you fill up only once in a month you don’t need hybrid or plug in hybrid. But just to let you know in quebec it would cost you 0.08 per kwh so for 8.8kwh it would cost 0.70 cents canadian to charge and this would give you 40 km. If you are a person that work at 17 km for example it would mean you never put gas or maybe you can put 10$ of gas. So per month it would cost you 17$ canadian dollars (25 days)electricity + 10$ can gas ( for safety) 27$ can = 20$us. With the new rav4 prime that can do 63 km it would cost 1,42$can per day of use. In conclusion for a person that do a lot of commute days it is worth it. If you stay at home and use your car very few it is not worth.
I just bought a 2019 Prime, and no spare tire. They give you an air pump and fix a flat ,(Toyota brand) lol I just got the Plus, I really like it so far and am averaging 87-90 nog combined. I'm still learning.
lol, Scotty... he hates the hybrids... can't agree with him at all. Toyota hybrids seem to be like one of the least problem riddled-vehicles on the market... even if you have to change the batteries out after 300k miles lol.
Doesn't look like it has a lot of vertical trunk space, and those taillights look terrible. I do like that it's a PHEV with the best MPG at its price-point.
Lets see, where do I start. Ugly looks, horrendous rims, $34k for 25 ev only mode miles. Are you serious Toyota, this method is outdated and the competition is leaving you behind with twice as many ev miles for close or cheaper after rebates. Next!
dimzay thanks for watching! I’m sorry you feel I was talking down to you or something. I don’t really understand your comment but I hope you stick around my channel!!

I am not a big fan of the Pruis Design overall. I rather do a Rav4 or a Camry but thanks for asking!
I would have Prius prime because it’s a plug in so you get better mpg

thats awesome. question- with all these charge ups, do you notice a spike or a large increase in electricity bill?
Bunleng Im : I have the Prius Prime and charge it at home. Takes 6 hours to charge and my electric bill doubles.
@@bunlengim5295 yeah, yes it can save a lot of money gas but how about the electricity bill at home.
How many times you charged a week?
@@bunlengim5295 I was wondering the same!

the Scotty Kilmer impression was SPOT ON!!!
Jeff, what about if your house has a 240 volt outlet outside. Can you still charge with that same cable? Or is there another?
I have owed 2 different 3rd gen Prius and put over 100k on each with just oil changes a bullet proof car my opinion.
Jeff, how do you claim the federal benefits when buying a car like this?
Hey Jeff I subscribed a couple weeks ago and I'm a Honda guy. But I also love Toyotas .....love your videos, keep up the great work.

How often should we change oil on the prime? Since there is an EV mode.
Wouldn't it be cool if when you bought a Toyota ,Jeff got thrown in as a bonus
I think that sounds like an excellent idea
I like your videos because you know more about the Toyota vehicles than other You Tubers. And you're funny.
Awesome car. Love your robot noises.
You're a very swell guy Jeff
Thanks!!
Great description
Jeff, dude, best video ever. You rock man. ..!!
If anyone is having sticker shock, remember this is the highest trim. The basic Prius Prime starts at $27k.
Keep in mind you get $4500 in fed tax credits, possibly more in state, and you’ll be saving lots of money on gas

Very nice review
I have it and it takes 6 hours on a regular outlet
Deol Jaideep 1:50 hrs on 240v 16amps
Great review Jeff, is there any talk of adding Apple CarPlay & Android Auto in the future to the Prime?
Actually yes for CarPlay. Check this www.google.com/amp/s/www.torquenews.com/6626/2020-toyota-prius-prime-brings-welcome-changes/amp
I have a 2022 XLE and sadly it doesn't come with a blind spot detection. Very bad Mr. Toyota!
Didn't know jeff Teague stopped playing in the NBA
Was there a spare? Did in the back that cover come up and there's room underneath like older Priuses?
Does it have a spare?
What makes this Toyota more reliable than other reliable Toyota is this car is built nearly 100% in Japan including all parts.
💕💕💕💕💕💕 Even a BETTER reason to buy them, NO WONDER the local dealers rarely have the Primes
Good review!

Extremely sporty ?
I was concentrating on the mic wire all the time. Where was it going anyway? Did you have a Windows laptop recording audio?
What if I do not want to be charging the batteries? Will it run on gas only?
Yes it can totally run on gasoline alone. Jeff
Nice tutorial.
I have a Prius and I want to get a Prime for my son. I'll pay sticker + $3000 over for a 2021 or 2022.

Great video. Can you go normal highway speeds on EV and if you run out on battery does the car automatically switch to gas?
Scott M yes and yes.

ya get more electric range with the Volt.
Pure EV would be better. Toyota, build it as an EV with 500 km Range!

25 miles range in 2019 outdated Toyota
Tesla is faster and better
And also double the price. Also, no reason for a car to ever go fast than 85mph~, as speed limits never exceed that.
