Almost everything at the coop is going to have great success, as they are converted and plants that have a high success rate. Pick two foreground, one mid and a tall background plant!
Built the stand, did all the plumbing, and built some amazing hard scape from not so great pieces? Actual king of DIY confirmed. Awesome video Joel, can't want to see this tank after it grows in!
Looks so great!! Thanks for sharing!! I have often wondered how the wooden structures are put together so successfully in some tanks. This looks amazing!!
You have some serious skills, I suck at scaping. I could follow the instructions to the letter, and it would still look like I tried carrying the tank and fell over with it! Always makes me very jealous but also appreciate the art. Well done man.
Can't wait to see this bad boy planted up. I enjoyed seeing this process and it's making me realize even more that I need a drill. Hope you and your ladies have a safe and happy holiday~
I think a good idea for a next video would be doing an extremely detailed “how to plant an aquarium” video. Like what plants are best in the foreground, midground and background, and what plants work well together for the finished scheme etc. plus techniques for keeping a planted tank going and looking good for the long haul. Also maybe some ideas on how to save money when starting a planted tank and how much it cost you to set up yours. Great vid as always Joel
Very awesome, thanks for sharing. Also, thanks for the heads up in last night's stream that the Coop's sale started at midnight. I couldn't sleep at 3 am my time (1 am for you guys) so I got my order in write away.
Fun video Joel! It'll be a great one to watch as it grows in and matures! You mentioned that the eco complete was through the center. May be a silly question but are you layering the substrate or essentially laying a strip of eco down the middle from left to right?
@@CorvusOscen Good to know! You mentioned it's to compensate for what the fluval stratum lacks, so do you find that the benefits essentially leech into fluval substrate and water column and provide a combo effect or is it to benefit particular plants that will be going there? I've seen it layered, mixed, but not striped yet so just curious as to the reasoning and benefits behind it. Always curious about different approaches, Thanks!
Would have liked to see a little more detailed how to of the spray foam use on your rock build. Or do you have a seperate video that shows that? Also, did you secure the rocks to the plastic pieces that you were using as you laid it out?
@@CorvusOscen Thanks - I'll check them out. Seriously thinking of trying a big tank (NOT 800 Gallons! More like 180/240) and almost have the missus convinced. Love the video series - especially the sump info!
What you called that bit?.... that’s really cool putting those woods together like that how come I didn’t think about that when we both have great minds smh 🤦♂️
Man, I'm going to have to grab some of that spray foam. People use it for both aquarium and vivarium builds and I have both fish and reptiles! Do you think I could supergue or foam a couple pieces of spiderwood together to make a bigger piece? I have a bunch of those small pieces and I need a centerpiece for my 65 that I can attach plants to, , but no where local sells good pieces of driftwood and shipping is stupid expensive lol.

This is such a unique idea. I am getting ready to switch out tanks and I am going to be using a lot of this. Keep up the great work!
Awesome! This really got my creativity juices flowing.
Can't wait to see all the types of plants you use, glad you're trying tissue culture plants again. The ones I got from them are doing amazing.

It's a strip front to back and not side to side.

I secured them with the foam actually. Sorry it wasn't super detailed, I didn't want to get my camera lens that close!
I see you and Cory and your crew with these super awesome large tanks. Where do you guys usually get them? Custom built by friends? Buy 'em?
Jason from clear fabrications made mine, also Cory's 800. I have a video somewhere about it.
