Military service is designed to break down the man, to condition him to horror, to act without remorse, to react in danger without thought of yourself, but for your fellow soldiers, sailors, and airmen. Remorse comes later, after the war is over. The military after WW1 and WW2, Vietnam Korea, Gulf 1991, Iraq 03, Afghanistan 01 to now has aspects that are still identical. The main aspect that has not changed, when you enter the military service, they break you down and indoctrinate you into the cult. It's designed that way, the easy life is to stay there all your life, it's great life, simple, hard, with rewards openly given. Tommy Shelby, Tony Soprano, Jimmy McGill, and Walter White seem to fall under a special category of villain. Their misfortunes are a byproduct of their own egos as well as a shared failure to acknowledge and accept their flaws.
I think that Barry Berkman fits in this category more than Jimmy McGill. Because unlike Barry, Jimmy at least is self aware enough of his flaws but he just couldn’t help himself but Barry fully believes that he is a good person (after already killed his own friend and a cop). Also, Jimmy doesn’t seem like a character with a huge ego.
@@nont18411 I think Saul Goodman is the component of Jimmy capable of producing a massive ego, as we saw with his relentless pursuit and pestering of Howard in Seasons 5 and 6.
I gotta say my favorite character from peaky blinders still is Arthur. That contradiction of him being self aware but lacking control to not be violent instead of tommy who has much self control but decides to be violent to me makes him the most interesting character
I think Tommy’s military service has a lot to do with what he turned into. He became ruthless and jaded yes; but he was also very well trained making him more dangerous to those who had little to no training with blades and firearms. A lot of times service men who leave and go back to the hood use their new found training as a benefit to fighting rival gangs. Also it helps with structuring; a gang member who is a veteran is more likely to follow orders since that’s how he was trained.
@@jackmclean4120She did. The war completely changed his personality. He went from a happy and fairly cheerful person to a brooding and ruthless person.
That character is so ridiculous. I just can't get past the fact that Tom Hardy (the opposite of an orthodox jew) is playing him, and using a cockney accent too. Just hilarious.
I think Tommy's biggest problem was just how many excuses he kept giving himself to be his worst self. Burning bridges, betraying Kimber, goading Alfie, ticking off Sabini nonstop, instigating the police etc... I swear if he hadn't hoarded those guns barely any of the bad stuff that happened later would have happened. His intelligence though is truly something to behold, and the few moments where he is a genuinely decent person are a treasure. The problem with underhanded tactics in a world of cutthroat's is that they will often do it right back to you, but Tommy somehow always seems surprised by this.
He would not have been so successful if he didn't take advantage of the guns but it also starts him down the path of being ambitious which indirectly kills his wife and family. If he just knew when to stop he could have had wealth and his family intact
No risk no reward. You’re right though about him stopping early, but it’s also the gamblers dilemma. In theory it sounds good to say stop while you’re ahead, but why stop when you’ve annihilated everyone you met
He’s learned a lot though and in season 6 you see him at full power steps ahead of everyone and season 5 aswell he was cooking everything it’s just his family fails him alot or mess up his plans
@@whoswho1233 I think there’s a scene in the later seasons that explains how Thomas can not “find peace” and “settle down”. He was never going to stop, it wasn’t in him. In a way, he went into a war and never returned. He has to be at war all the time, there is no returning home.
"No one close to you makes a choice without your opinion Tom. Not me, not Arthur, not Ada. We can't escape you, your lethal hand is always on our shoulder." Best description of Tommy that ironically came from the only family member that betrayed him, Michael Gray. He may have been stupid at times in the latter seasons, but he was spot on with that comment.
I forget if it was season 3, but one thing you didn't mention was how Thomas' personality drastically shifted after he had his head crushed against a wall. Before that incident, Thomas didn't really get the hallucinations. After that? Full blown visual and auditory hallucinations of Grace

This show is pure excellence. Everyone brings their A game in every scene. My favorites are the ones with Alfie Solomons and of course Charlie's "By order of the peaky fookin blinders!" Lol.
Very well structured and detailed analysis. I think doing an analysis of the characters in the television show Barry would be good as well. I would also love an analysis video on The Bloodline from WWE (especially Roman Reigns).
This show is life changing and makes you question what it means to be a man and a good man. The scene in the field (everyone will know) is one of the best scenes in any movie or TV I’ve ever seen. Genuinely a masterpiece in suspense, acting, cinematography, dialogue. Pure perfection and you’re never the same again when you go on the journey with him after it’s over.
YES I RECOGNIZED THE SCENE AS SOON AS U SAID IT, and yea i wanna take the good qualities from tom, not the negative ones but he has alot of positive traits, the ambition, the amazing individual thinking, calculations, comfortable in isolation, family man, loves horses, takes care of himself looks wise, finds good friends and connections, and writes notes
@@IIIISai exactly, a lot of qualities sadly missing from modern men. I think the biggest ones is taking responsibility for your own actions and the environment around you. You can carve your own destiny out like Tommy does. Hopefully without all the murder and manipulation but you can still be the master of your own life even if it’s just taking responsibility for your behaviours and actions without blaming others.
Cillian Murphy once described Tommy Shelby as "a good man who does bad things" so personally I think he's more of a morally ambiguous character more than a full antagonist.
Unfortunately Polly and Michael’s deaths were affected by Helen McRory’s unfortunate passing in 2021, which forced the writers to rewrite the latter half of season 6
@BerysImoveis originally it was supposed to end after season 7 with Micheal being the main villian in 7. It's a shame they had to cut that entire plot line in half would have been so much better
Thomas Shelby is one my favourite characters from a recent show. I think his PTSD [and probable brain injury] is what makes him more fixated on ever more ambitious goals. I really wonder how this character would function where he transposed onto a more modern settings. Excellent video analysis as always. Villain Profile Suggestions: 1. Frank Underwood/Francis Urquart (House of Cards) 2. 001 Squid Game) 3. Petyr Baelish (A Song of Ice and Fire) 4. Frank Gallagher (Shameless US) 5. Marty and Wendy Byrde (Ozark) 6. Dudley Smith (L.A Confidential) 7. Lorne Malvo (Fargo) 8. Idi Amin (Last King of Scotland) 9. Kratos (God of War series) 10. Eric Cartman (South Park) 11. Father (Full Metal Alchemist) 12. The Sons of Anarchy Gang
thomas believes hes alive by chance, so his only purpose is to complete his ambitions, he doesn't fear death, his fake death on season 2 pushed his ambitions even further
May I request Saw Gerrera, from Star Wars, whom I’m sure we’re familiar with. He is not entirely evil. He didn’t start that way. What he became was evil.
@@wattsnottaken1forget the charisma intelligence bs😅😅the only reason the character is loved is bc he is the main character...u watch the whole series through his perspective so how can u hate him
Alot of him and his personality is actually based of Billy kimber. As kimber didn't get killed as early as the series shows but in real life went on to take over large territories and play big part in englands organised crime of the early 20th century.
This show definitely has some of my favourite character sketches. Luca Changretta was definitely my favourite antagonist simply due to his charisma lol ✨
Cillian plays Thomas Shelby so well I can't imagine another actor playing his role, Peaky Blinders is my favourite series and I can't wait to see the film on the big screen.
I actually find it really fascinating that people don't find characters like Tommy, Tony Soprano, or Walter White evil upon first watch. I think something about them being the main character keeps people from realizing they are not good people. Great vid!
we see tommys bad actions but he's not someone who's sadistically evil, he just embraced the toxic gangster lifestyle, but he always has family behind his motivation
@@IIIISai He literally prevented multiple members of the family from moving on with his life which led to the deaths of 2 of them. He sent an innocent dude to die in prison. He used his future 2nd baby mom as bait and almost got her raped and barely gaf. Shot his cousin in the head even though he’s responsible for him turning that way. Contributed to Arthur becoming an animal when he was trying to become more peaceful. He’s possessive, not caring
@@tyrekkbrooks4864 He didn't prevent grown adults from leaving the lifestyle they on their own conscious chose to be under his wing, they aren't babies, also hus calculations are great, u think that whole grace and Billy Kimber situation was bad, that was nothing, she coulda fended for herself which she was literally doing, and tommy came just in time as planned, also pollys death was fins fault, fin told the mole the plan and the mole told the irish, don't blame tommy for that, and shot his corrupted cousin micheal? the same one who chose a random cousin and left his foster mom who raised him, and then slowly picked up their lifestyle just to go to America and simp for some whore who manipluated and cheated on him, polly babied micheal, and micheal also didn't tell tommy when luca chengretta told micheal that he would kill tommy, micheal was a shady snake, and then when tom let him back in the family after the whole america incident, micheal tries taking over, micheal is an idiot and also Literally tried to kill tom, u really let his words before his death twist your brain, i agree on the Arthur bit tho but arther was the older brother and for him to let his Younger brother boss him around is his own issue, anger pills or not, doesn't change the fact he laps on to tommy like a dog, tommy didn't manipulate his family they literally relied on him
Yea it’s definitely because they’re the main character because we dont see them as just doing evil stuff, we see them doing regular stuff just like us which humanizes them. I didn’t really realize how bad Walter White was until rewatching Breaking Bad but yea, definitely because they are the main character
The British Michael Corleone. Great story, and while much of it can be attributed to his environment, few others in that same scenario rose to the heights he did.
I definitely agree with this analogy. Like Adrien Brody's character tried to be more like Michael Corleone only more unhinged, but Cillian Murphy really nailed Michael's level of cunning and ambition.
I fell in love with Cillian Murphy watching Peaky Blinders 😝😝 He was absolutely superb in this role. The cast, costumes, acting and story is outstanding. Peaky Blinders is in my top-five all-time favorite tv shows-ever!! RIP Helen McCrory 😔 I would love to hear an analysis of Vic Mackey from The Shield and Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy!!!
Vic Mackey would be an excellent choice. I love that series. SoA had an amazing first season and a very solid second season, but really jumped the shark after that.
Thank you so much for covering Tom Shelby. I'm late to the party regarding this show, but my goodness he is one of the best written characters I've come across in a long time. Even the ladies of the show like Polly and Grace are well written as well.
Peaky Blinders is one of my favorite shows and Thomas Shelby is one of the best characters in a TV show. The writing was excellent, but Cillian Murphy's performance was just staggeringly good. He commanded the screen whenever he was one it. I found myself cheering for him as often as I was yelling, "Why are you doing that?" at the screen. Just an amazing show all around.
One of my favorite characters ever! Not only is the writing incredible and engaging, but Cillian Murphy is utterly brilliant as Thomas Shelby. Loved this video, Vile
Tommy wasn’t truly caring for his family, he was possessive. When they all were prepared to move on from that life he sabotaged them. Also, when Arthur finally found a good woman that was changing him, Tommy manipulated him back into being a monster
I have been waiting for an video of Raymond Reddington from the Blacklist drama (ideally from season 1 to 6). Charismatic, cunning, strategic, cultured, communicative, compassionate, ruthless, ambitious, single-minded, integral, enthusiastic and depressive. A complex character worthy of analysis.
One of the most fascinating villains to date, for me personally, has been the Governor from the Walking Dead (the show, not the comics). David Morrissey´s performance was outstanding! Definitely would recommend as an analysis.
Tommy Shelby may have been cursed by the sapphire, but he has a different curse that he can't beat. The curse of being a man who understands how everything and everyone around him works, the ability to read people's emotions, their motives, wants and needs, to understand the power structures of society, but the conflict of being a decent human in regards to the place and people he comes from, or turning his back on them to try to win the game and destroy those power structures. The curse of nobody ever being able to understand your thoughts, your emotions, but knowing those of everyone else
During a rewatch I counted how many times they talked about the war and how many times Tommy personally killed someone. The war is referenced or directly mentioned 105 times with the most being in season 1 with 31. In the show Tommy kills 15 with the most being a tie between season 4 and 6 both having 5. The war is mentioned the most in Season 1 Episode 2 with 11 mentions and the episode with the most Tommy kills is Season 6 episode 4 with 4 kills
This is character is one of the greatest combinations of brilliant writing, brilliant directing, and of course brilliant acting that I’ve ever seen. It’s a perfect storm of perfection all across the board
Watch it anyway I knew everything about a certain show ..it was hyped and I'd heard so many reviews and analysis etc ..but watching it was a different experience..even if I knew where it was going, it was still enjoyable
should do Analysing Evil: Nate Jacobs (there's definitely a case that he's more a tragic character than anything, but the writing behind the character and what he goes through definitely would be interesting to analyse)
I'll propose a better one : Nate's father. This man destroyed everyone he came in contact with and stunted his son in a way that is more damaging than if he had hit him during his childhood. He's radioactive.
Stories where the villian is the primary protagonist are so interesting and very hard to pull off well. Peaky Blinders is a master class in this narrative style
This is a good representation of what war damages men. 4 years of blood death mud and seemingly endless horror. How could you not be either brutalised or traumatised by it.
Since 28 days later i knew Cilian Murphy would become a great one. I would argue that all of his roles could have been equally good when he had as much screentime to develope them as Thomas Shelby.
These videos are brilliant. You did a beautiful dissection of one of my favourite characters of all time. Your analysis was as detailed and complex as the character himself. Thank you for your work.
Thomas is one of the most well-written characters in a long time. I'm not a success like him but I relate with him so much. I envy his ambition and the love those close to him have for him and him for them.
You can definitely make a case for Jesse Pinkman. His evil is often overlooked because it’s overshadowed by Walt’s but he is evil all the same. He was already cooking meth before he met Walt, he assisted Walt and enabled him, he killed Gale, got his girlfriends killed indirectly because of the life he was living, etc.
Yeah, Pinkman isn't large scale evil - he doesn't have what it takes to be a ruthless mastermind like Walt - but you could definitely argue he's "small scale evil" - he didn't really care who got hurt until it was a child, enabled the drug habits of people like Jane, and attended the addict anonymous meetings purely to turn them back into meth customers. He was a victim of a great amount of cruelty himself, but I wouldn't say he's a good person
@@RaenRyong agreed. I’d probably place him high C tier low B tier myself. Definitely not A or S tier in my opinion Edit: maybe high B tier possibly low A tier for what he did to Gale that’s pretty hard to forgive despite all of his tragedy.
@@TheSMR1969 Bro, most people are not on an ivory tower, they still don't turn people into meth addicts like Jesse. There's a special kind of hell for people that profit out of intentionally ruining people's lives.
Unpopular opinions. There are two characters I'd love to see you cover someday: Todd Gaines from "Go". Not exactly a villain, just because it wasn't that kind of movie. But the scene when he confronts Ronna in the parking lot with a menacing calm is still haunting me. A Zen psychopath. Glinda, The Good Witch of the North from "The Wizard of Oz". She managed to manipulate events for her own ends, and walked away looking like the good guy, sprinkling fairy dust on everyone.
There's a quote from the Roman Politician, General, and Dictator Sulla that I feel fits Tommy: "No friend ever served me, and no enemy ever wronged me, whom I've not repaid in full."
Love this channel! I’ve often thought to myself that I’ve never seen a tv/movie character with as much strategic genius as Thomas Shelby does. I’m glad you acknowledged that.
That actor doesn't talk a lot in the series, but damn he uses the power of silence so well... Everything is in his eyes, and his way of handling himself
I knew a few WW1 veterans as a child, one was one of the biggest inspirations in my life, they were from a harsh world where they went from working long hours to live hand to mouth to hell on earth, to being s*rewed over by the ruling class to the great depression to another war. The only thing I can't understand is why there wasn't a lot more Thomas Shelbys among them. What sort of threat can scare someone who's already been to hell?
Would love to see you cover some more MCU villains, specifically Purple Man (Jessica Jones Netflix series), Kingpin (Daredevil Netflix series) and High Evolutionary (GOTG3). They’re undoubtedly among the most evil enemies of that entire franchise.
I love this character so much. I don't even care if he is a criminal. He is not evil, he is human. With the capacity for evil and good all the same. Beautiful written character.
2 villain ideas: Jordan Belfort from wolf of wall street and Frank Lucas from American gangster. Also could do a video that combines the other breaking bad and better call Saul villains who are evil but don't have enough to make a detailed individual video on each of them
Tommy Shelby is scary in terms of how calm and methodical an operator he is but for me the scariest of all the Peaky Blinders is Arthur Shelby the eldest brother. Arthur is just downright terrifying.
Great to see that you're finally covering Peaky Blinders. Tommy Shelby is just the beginning when it comes to villainy in this series. Further down the line, we've got Luca Changretta and Oswald Moseley, hopefully you analyse them at some point
@@commisargamerson1666 Very true... he doesn't have a massive presence in the show either. Might be better to group Tommy's foes together in one video.
@@robcain8865 I think the channel has a rule of not covering irl people and it's more about the unique creation of fictional characters. Oswald's traits are not written, he is like that (with ofc some theatrical embellishing)
hi vile eye, speaking of peaky blinders can you also make videos of these villains in the show 1. inspector Chester Campbell 2. father john Hughs 3. luca changretta 4. Oswald Mosley thank you and keep up the great work
I love how he tantalizes the viewer into favoring his side with his charisma, even to the point of rooting for him. The only time i saw him as evil, was when he would use arthur for his wrongdoings. It became more aparant towards the later seasons.
I would love to see an analyzing evil on Arthur Morgan. He is such a wonderfully complex character who seems to do good outside of the dutch van der linde gang. I would love to see your opinion on Arthur's character.
Great pick as always! Thomas is such a complex character, that you forget that he is the villain of his own story. I'd like to see one on Moriarty from both Sherlock, and the short story "The Final Problem" as he was the OG arch nemesis to a recurring fictional character. He is the Napolean of Crime and is Sherlock Holmes equal and at the same time his opposite. Before there was Batman and the Joker, there was Sherlock and Moriarty.

I was so upset when I saw he let his wife blindsid him. He was very smart and disciplined.
I forget if it was season 3, but one thing you didn't mention was how Thomas' personality drastically shifted after he had his head crushed against a wall. Before that incident, Thomas didn't really get the hallucinations. After that? Full blown visual and auditory hallucinations of Grace
I thought it was the drugs that caused the hallucinations.
@@philipwhitcomb5358 maaaaan... it was the the drugs, it was the war, it was the ghost of Kimbler, it was the ghost of Changretta. It was a million things that contributed to his breakdown from reality. Poor guy suffered more than anyone should.
@@punksoab Well, you implied it was specifically due to the head injury and I'm adding my 2 cents. But yes, on that we agree, Tommy has suffered a great deal.
Oh I thought it was the drugs but you could be right
@@islabee94 drugs started in Season 1. He was using opium and drinking alcohol at the very start of the show. The head trauma is followed by the hallucinations.
This show is pure excellence. Everyone brings their A game in every scene. My favorites are the ones with Alfie Solomons and of course Charlie's "By order of the peaky fookin blinders!" Lol.
I’m only up to episode 3 in season 1. I can’t continue it because I can’t stand Grace. Really annoying because I so wanted to see it 😢

Very well structured and detailed analysis. For future ideas I think these would make for some interesting videos:
- Analyzing Evil: Homelander From The Boys
- Analyzing Evil: Magneto From X-Men
- Analyzing Evil: Christopher Moltisanti From The Sopranos
- Analyzing Evil: Hyman Roth from The Godfather: Part II
- Analyzing Evil: Reservoir Dogs
- Analyzing Evil: Rupert Pupkin From The King Of Comedy
- Analyzing Evil: Combo from This Is England
fire list
Analyzing Evil for Reservoir Dogs definitely requires analyzing the movie as a whole and not a character I agree with that.
I think he needs to do joe Goldberg and Cersei Lannister as well!
I think doing an analysis of the characters in the television show Barry would be good as well. I would also love an analysis video on The Bloodline from WWE (especially Roman Reigns).
@@raymondsims7042 Ramsay Bolton and Euron Greyjoy too
This show is life changing and makes you question what it means to be a man and a good man. The scene in the field (everyone will know) is one of the best scenes in any movie or TV I’ve ever seen. Genuinely a masterpiece in suspense, acting, cinematography, dialogue. Pure perfection and you’re never the same again when you go on the journey with him after it’s over.
“I almost had FUCKING EVERYTHING!”
Ah yes finally, a video on Oppenheimer.

He went from lvl 1 thug to lvl 99 mob boss
Cillian Murphy once described Tommy Shelby as "a good man who does bad things" so personally I think he's more of a morally ambiguous character more than a full antagonist.
Yeah he just lives in a world that plays by different rules. In relation to everyone else in the underworld he's not evil.
Tommy was one of the most evil characters in the whole show tho
@@BaseballnfjI agree he’s just surviving in the Great Depression. Compared to others like major Campbell not even close.
He’s not an antagonist bc he’s the protagonist. He’s def a villain though.
Unfortunately Polly and Michael’s deaths were affected by Helen McRory’s unfortunate passing in 2021, which forced the writers to rewrite the latter half of season 6
Polly I understand the homage, but I found unnecessary Milchael's being an enemy and also his death
Villain Profile Suggestions:
1. Frank Underwood/Francis Urquart (House of
Cards)
2. 001 Squid Game)
3. Petyr Baelish (A Song of Ice and Fire)
4. Frank Gallagher (Shameless US)
5. Marty and Wendy Byrde (Ozark)
6. Dudley Smith (L.A Confidential)
7. Lorne Malvo (Fargo)
8. Idi Amin (Last King of Scotland)
9. Kratos (God of War series)
10. Eric Cartman (South Park)
11. Father (Full Metal Alchemist)
12. The Sons of Anarchy Gang
Underwood's analysis would be just great
Chris Partlow from The Wire and Vass from far cry 3 would be also great
thomas believes hes alive by chance, so his only purpose is to complete his ambitions, he doesn't fear death, his fake death on season 2 pushed his ambitions even further
Frank Gallagher😅 I thought He was funny and just sad at first😂😂😂its f'd up rewatching it now coz u understand everything He does
I dont think Idi Amin would work, since he's a real dude
This character is so well written I didn’t even give thought to him being evil until I saw this video got posted
Charisma, intelligence, charm, and many other things are why we never see him as evil and because he’s a fan favorite character
Well, true evil is often charming
May I request Saw Gerrera, from Star Wars, whom I’m sure we’re familiar with. He is not entirely evil. He didn’t start that way. What he became was evil.
@@wattsnottaken1forget the charisma intelligence bs😅😅the only reason the character is loved is bc he is the main character...u watch the whole series through his perspective so how can u hate him
@@lnd8622 What kind of stupid logic is this? Gas nothing to do with the fact that he's the main character.
Is anyone else absolutely enamored and fascinated by Murphy's Thomas Shelby? I can't get enough of the character.

Facts
Probably the nearest a character or actor has ever come to Al Pacino as Michael Corleone
@@barry4649 yeah Tommy is my fav, what do you think about walter White?
I definitely agree with this analogy. Like Adrien Brody's character tried to be more like Michael Corleone only more unhinged, but Cillian Murphy really nailed Michael's level of cunning and ambition.
Cillian Murphy is so underrated. What a phenomenal actor he is. Tommy Shelby is a masterpiece and Peaky blinders is a great show.
I fell in love with Cillian Murphy watching Peaky Blinders 😝😝 He was absolutely superb in this role. The cast, costumes, acting and story is outstanding. Peaky Blinders is in my top-five all-time favorite tv shows-ever!! RIP Helen McCrory 😔
I would love to hear an analysis of Vic Mackey from The Shield and Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy!!!
Vic Mackey would be an excellent choice. I love that series. SoA had an amazing first season and a very solid second season, but really jumped the shark after that.
Never thought this video would ever be made. So glad it’s out!
Thank you so much for covering Tom Shelby. I'm late to the party regarding this show, but my goodness he is one of the best written characters I've come across in a long time. Even the ladies of the show like Polly and Grace are well written as well.
I hope a patreon requested this by saying “You’ll make a video about Tommy Shelby, by order of the Peaky fookin Blinders”
And I’ve been waiting to hear one on Handsome Jack from Borderlands
Reddington feels like an implausible character since he seems to be all knowing but it's never shown how he knows what he knows or does
Love him or hate him. He was a man who knew how to get shit done. And the results speak for themselves

One of the most fascinating villains to date, for me personally, has been the Governor from the Walking Dead (the show, not the comics). David Morrissey´s performance was outstanding! Definitely would recommend as an analysis.
Oh the governor was a great one!!!!! You could actually do a couple from twd. Negan, Shane, the governor, you could even analyze Rick
Cillian Murphy is a very versatile actor. Great breakdown. I would love an episode for Franklin Saint from Snowfall.
I swear to god, Tommy is one of the greatest characters in television
This is character is one of the greatest combinations of brilliant writing, brilliant directing, and of course brilliant acting that I’ve ever seen. It’s a perfect storm of perfection all across the board
Me tryna resist watching this cuz I still haven't watched peaky blinders 😩
There’s some pretty cool step dads in it give it a shot
Watch it anyway
I knew everything about a certain show
..it was hyped and I'd heard so many reviews and analysis etc
..but watching it was a different experience..even if I knew where it was going, it was still enjoyable
should do Analysing Evil: Nate Jacobs (there's definitely a case that he's more a tragic character than anything, but the writing behind the character and what he goes through definitely would be interesting to analyse)
"No foitin! No fookin foitin!" Thomas "Oppenheimer" Shelby
Loved this.
Please consider The Yellow King from True Detective season 1 for a future episode. Layers upon layers of true evil.
Yes!
These videos are brilliant. You did a beautiful dissection of one of my favourite characters of all time. Your analysis was as detailed and complex as the character himself. Thank you for your work.
“He’s already wearing a second pair and has already cut the belt of his enemy” 😂😂😂😂
@@stephenm5937 it's easy to pass moral judgments from an ivory tower
@@TheSMR1969 Bro, most people are not on an ivory tower, they still don't turn people into meth addicts like Jesse.

An excellent character study! Been lookin forward to this character for a long time !
Unpopular opinions. There are two characters I'd love to see you cover someday:
Todd Gaines from "Go".
We’ve been screaming for this one for a long time! Thank you vile eye!
You should do James Keziah Delaney from Taboo. Great show even though it only got one season, and an amazing protagonist

There's a quote from the Roman Politician, General, and Dictator Sulla that I feel fits Tommy:
"No friend ever served me, and no enemy ever wronged me, whom I've not repaid in full."
Emperor Tiberius as well.
Which wasn't really true as there was still maruis supporters around. Especially in iberia
Love this channel! I’ve often thought to myself that I’ve never seen a tv/movie character with as much strategic genius as Thomas Shelby does. I’m glad you acknowledged that.

I don't know if you've ever heard of Boardwalk Empire but I would love a video on Nucky Thompson.

Great pick as always! Thomas is such a complex character, that you forget that he is the villain of his own story.
I'd like to see one on Moriarty from both Sherlock, and the short story "The Final Problem" as he was the OG arch nemesis to a recurring fictional character. He is the Napolean of Crime and is Sherlock Holmes equal and at the same time his opposite. Before there was Batman and the Joker, there was Sherlock and Moriarty.
