  • Atama hails from Kota Kinabalu, East Malaysia (North Borneo Island). He is a DJ/Producer/MC known for his creative efforts known as the inventor of "Sumazau HipHop" - fusion of North Borneo ethnic music with rap. Can't Stop The Sumazau is featured on MyTribalRoots(1st Album 2005) which sold 30,000units in Sabah, East Malaysia (North Borneo).
Can't Stop The Sumazau features Johnny Black(Kinabalu Kingz), Pipie & Gundohing Ambrose Mudi.
This track entails the plight of Sabahan singers, composers, songwriters, musicians & artistes that got played out by recording companies (Sabah Records, Kinabalu Records, Skyline, Polysound) by either their albums replicated & sold without consent (pirated) and never receiving sales/mechanical royalties from their albums until today.
Can't Stop The Sumazau came about 3 hours after Sabah Records (Chong Ten Seong) made a fuss to SabahVFM regarding Atama's Hit tribute to John Gaisah entitled Throw Your Hands In The Air, which resulted to that track (THYITA) being banned (until today). The record company alleged owning copyrights to John Gaisah materials, but in October 2008 the Malaysian High Court of Sabah rejected this claim and a lawsuit against Atama was overthrown.
Can't Stop The Sumazau is a direct diss to the recording companies in Sabah for what they have don't to suppress & ill treat local indie music. Atama has become the leading voice in the fight against the companies and reveals to the world how the recording companies treat
indigenous music. SO..F*** Off to them - Sabah Records, Skyline, Seh Huat, Polysound & Kinabalu Records- nothing but a bunch of crooks...
Can't Stop The Sumazau is now a symbol of music activism is Borneo Island since it was aired on radio in 2006. This track was #1 on the SabahVFM Charts for 16 weeks in the same year. Today, Can't Stop The Sumazau is most popular sumazau rap track in North Borneo!
