    This was an awesome accomplishment, both the hike and the wonderful filming for your video. I have a feeling your subscribers know what all you put into these videos. I, for one, see it being created when I hike with you…….saying some things over again while you are narrating, so it sounds perfect! Gee, I can’t imagine where you get that! Haha. Anyway, thank you for this great video so many of us can feel that we were with you all along. ❤

    You were on or near the old cable route. There was once cables in place to aid one to climb directly from the boulder field to the summit instead of passing through the keyhole. Most people use the keyhole route, which includes the trough and the narrows to ge to the homestretch. The homestretch is the easiest last push to the summit, but it's still a class 3 scramble. Cables were removed years ago, but more advanced climbers can still use this route.

      The cables route. Yep. It honestly looks less nervewracking than the keyhole route to me. Less complicated anyway.

    Gorgeous video and really high-quality images. I did this hike, but more than 40 years ago (!), so this is really bringing back memories- really well done!

    One of your more impressive hikes, really high up on Longs, a real risk taker but smart.

    We have lived in Loveland for two years now, and I always look up at Long's Peak and try to see the details of the east face. Even from Lily Lake you cannot see all the detail, but your video really let's us see this mountain so clearly. I think the vantage point from Chasm View is the best of all, as you can see that vertical face that is so awesome. Thanks for sharing this.

    That was pretty sketchy/scary! The views were epic though! Almost time to take the glovens out to keep your snack warm! Thanks for a great hiking season !

    Great video Nick, of all the videos I've seen on UA-cam going up the Long's Peak trail, I've never seen a video going up to Chasm View. You have some unique views in your video and they are crystal clear. From a distance, it looks like you could just walk up from Chasm View to the summit of Long's Peak, but your video shows that it's way too steep unless you have ropes and stuff. Also, it looks like one way to get to the top of Mount Lady Washington is to hike to the boulderfield, the go the the left up to the camel you mentioned, then kinda go backward up to the summit.

      Thank you! Its amazing that people used to go up via that route with the cable! But yes, you could get MLW from the Boulder Field fur sure then drop down the Camel to Chasm. But it is ridiculously steep and loose back there.

      I was thinking I should have. Going the Keyhole route would have been only slightly harder than what I did. Oh well.. next year!

    Something special in you comes out sometimes Nick. You'll complain about relatively mundane hikes and then do crazy stuff like this! Amazing video as always.

    Great video! Way to do Chasm View in the snow! And solo! You didn't say it in the video, but this hike is no joke :)
    This hike is as serious a hike as the summit itself.
    I went up to Chasm View in 9/2012. The snow you had hid all the sketchy scree there is on the way. You got a lot closer to the edge than I was willing to do. At the edge I was 3-4 points of contact the entire time (i.e. crawling). I tried to find the hole in the floor that the book described, but wasn't sure I found it. But at the point I did not care. I just wanted to make it back down. Afterword, I said to myself I wouldn't do Chasm View again unless I was with a group that was more experienced than myself. Have not been back since.
    BTW - if you look at Google Maps - and then the 360 view photos - that is my photos the hike.

    Thank you for posting this Nick. I have been thinking about the subject destination for quite some time and was hoping you would provide a video showing the details of a route. Hope to do it on my next annual trip to RMNP in September 2024. Now I Need to look through your archive and see if you have one for Isolation Lake via Bluebird.

    • @nicksangetta8874
      @nicksangetta8874  8 місяців тому

      Thanks Brian. I have been to Isolation once, but did it via Mahana Peak and then descended down by Bluebird. For the most epic of journeys, once up at Isolation you can take it over the Mahana-Isolation Peak saddle and drop in on Frigid Lake then descend to Eagle Lake, Box Lake and eventually Thunder Lake then take the trail back to the Wild Basin TH. I have never done it..
