They acutually have a smaller thinner tote version not sure of the name but it's like a classy tote ...

Try relacing in the traditional way, right over left or vice versa. The European method of lacing does not allow it much give or length to stretch.
I'm waiting on the ONTHEGO bag in the smaller size, coming out in January. I think the ONTHEGO is too big for me.
