Uh the committee literally gave them a chance to prove they didn’t need Jordan Travis. That’s why they were still ranked in top four up until the final rankings. How can you not see this?
Let's breakdown the 5 pieces of the criteria: 1. Conf Champions - Draw 2. SOS - Bama 3. Common Opp - FSU 4. H2H - N/A 5. Key injuries - Bama I believe FSU should've been in, however the criteria the conferences agreed upon favors Bama.
No need to worry if a QB gets hurt between now and the games they will all self report and pull out of the playoff because they all know just how important it is to have their number 1 QB.
FSU won every game in a power 5 conference. Alabama didn't. Plain and simple. FSU should be above Texas and Alabama. Alabama needed a a prayer to beat Auburn They struggled to score against USF. and Alabama had two bye weeks when they scheduled Chatanooga in the middle of the season.
@@thomasfrederick71 based on any objective standard this year. One team is undefeated. One team beat the common opponent by a wider margin. One team beat every other opponent handily. The other team has a loss, needed a prayer to win against a 6-6 team. Was held to 3 point in a half (nearly scoreless) by USF.
ESPN had to get SEC in, that meant Bama and Texas had to leap frog over FSU, used Jordan’s injury as an excuse. FSU isn’t good enough to play against those top 4, why rank them front of Georgia? The Committee screwed FSU and that was in the works long before Jordan got hurt.
@@Jiibay7796Because Alabama beat Georgia who was number 1 in the country all season and the fact that the committee put Alabama over Florida State the only right thing to do was to put Florida State over Georgia
The committee gave FSU a chance to prove they had real qb depth, and they failed miserably. They struggled into the 4th quarter with a Florida team who also didn’t have their starting qb, had they won that game 35-6 I think they get in. Also Clemson having a down year really hurt the Noles as well.
Unfortunately all the CFP committee cares about is money. If it was about getting it right, FSU would be in and Bama would be rightfully left out. If the games don't matter, then choose your top 4 brands, draft projections, etc. at the start and go straight to the playoffs. This was all about money and pleasing the SEC. Bama getting the silver spoon treatment isn't new, but it is disappointing

Want to see if you guys can look into this, for the second time i heard "yesterday no name" but like 4 days ago Ohio State alumni Maurice Clarett scouted, recruited Arch Manning about coming to Ohio State, wouldn't that be considered advanced scouting? Like Connor Stalions did, and Coach Harbaugh took the fall for, Steve Deace says it's very vague how the NCAA describes advanced scouting.🤔
At the start of the video you wondered why FSU was ahead of Ohio St and Georgia. That would be because FSU was a conference champion, and that matters in the playoff criteria
@@CBORR2 Yep! No excuses. If they want to prove the committee wrong they should play UGA like it's their super bowl and the way they've played the past couple of weeks I don't think they would stand a chance against UGA's 2nd string, much less 1st string.
Had Georgia won, there would have been four undefeated conference champions in the playoff. One team loses (Georgia) and loud people seem to think that wins somehow didn’t matter in light of FSU being left out. For those interested in FSU, a confluence of outcomes broke against them. Every bit of the regular season, and championship week mattered.
Someone paid the committee to put Texas and Alabama in the playoff. It is plain and simple. I don't know why no one is discussing how much the committee got paid. My guess is a million each from both schools.
What's being ignored amid all this outrage is bama winning the SEC championship game is the ONLY thing that happened to even create the chaos for FSU to have meaningful consideration in the discussion. @@thomasfrederick71 Imo, the playoff should have been 6 teams with 5 conf champs and a wild card. Wild Card should have been determined by best record against P5 competition and, if needed, 4 or 5 objective tie breakers.
@@Dabogeyman0719 best record vs power 5? Guess the good teams should all just schedule vandy, rutgers, cal, and Stanford for there out of conference. There are group if 5 teams better than power 5 teams. The distinction isn’t worth using when looking at specific teams. So long as schedules create these silos of teams that have only played each other and weak out of conference opponents (including power 5) there wont be an objective fair way of doing things. Expansion just moves out the team the gets ripped off so people don’t care as much about the team being screwed.
Georgia is going to absolutely skull drag FSU and people are going to stop pretending that FSU belonged in the top 4. In 2014 FSU was the third seed, behind two Power 5 champions each with one loss. Because everyone knew they sucked, but you had to respect the record. So the precedent for this was already there. And when FSU got blitzed by a good team at the end of December, we knew they got it right.
Strength of Schedule matters when you look horrible with your "star" quarterback against teams like Boston College and Clemson. The the only reason you are so highly rated is cause you beat a LSU with a bottom 20 defense at the beginning of the Season. Teams need to be punished for having horrible schedules and the committee made an example out of FSU. They do not have a single top 10 end of season win, they also struggled against a defense Kentucky walked all over. The committee avoided another TCU and when Georgia beats FSU by 50 I cant wait to never hear about this again.
"I don't blame the committee" What!? That is such a disappointment to hear. "Eye test"? So Blain just admits (and later Jake says ought right)that this is nothing more than a highly produced beauty contest and seems like that’s okay. Criteria? What about the other criteria, like say, winning? Seems like only Jake is as hot and bothered by this as one ought to be. David and Blain are trying way to hard to try to rationalize the non rational and find the logic in the illogical. I appreciate that they can actually admit that FSU should be in the top four because "it's the right thing to do" but adding on qualifiers is enabling the corruptness in the system that is more obvious now than ever. Y'all just made a movie to make fun of and destroy the narrative of the absurdness of false equivalency. I, for some naïve reason, expected more from you guys. "Alabama v Michigan" is more "compelling"? A better "match-up"? As if by just saying those words, its truth. No, its opinion and it’s the same opinion the committee had that stripped away a whole team's body of work. And I suspect, because what else are y'all going to do, you'll just continue to enable this sort of BS by participating in it. Enablers. The viewership of the playoffs will be good and it will show the committee that they don't have to "do what's right" just what is best for their bottom line. Which really just means the college football season, as it stands, is arbitrary and meaningless.
Agreed. I blame the committee. They are the ones who made the decision. I think it is legitimate corruption. They are getting paid. Why would the top 2 schools that bring in the most revenue jump FSU? someone got paid. I think many people got paid.
Because the Georgia/Alabama/Texas head-to-head match-up results. If LSU or Florida were in this conversation, that criteria would fall in FSU's favor. If FSU came out and embarrassed Louisville, this conversation would be moot. They did not. That game was painful to watch. It sucks, but it was going to suck for several teams no matter the decision. Treating this like some moral failing is just ridiculous.
I’m serious about this…. if I was the FSU head coach, I would demand change by taking action. I would boycott the orange bowl, take my entire FSU team to the rose bowl , and lead my team in a silent safe protest into the field right at the start of the bama Michigan game, dressed and suited up. Love the show/podcast, one of the best available. Arguing that Alabama should not get in because of a single criteria point (injury), while at the same time arguing FSU should be in based on a single point (record) is illogical. Alabama has strength of schedule and best win over FSU. But, how boring would sports be without debate? Keep up the good work boys.
Absolutely, record and undefeated. Both are conference champions, so that is a wash. Alabama has best win and a significantly higher strength of schedule. So, based on that criteria it’s a toss up; therefore, outlier criteria has to be considered.
Do yall think it maybe wasn't about getting Bama in, rather making sure Washington gets a matchup theyre more likely to lose since the Pac-12 is done after this year?
It’s bigger than disappointment for the players and coaches and football org for FSU. Economic activity for Tally and recruiting impact. Cone’s statement about more compelling matchup with regard to Mich Bama shows he is also a proponent of this snub.
would oddsmakers and college football know make FSU a favorite against any team in the top five thru top ten right now? If the answer is no, then how could anybody say they are a top four team.
If 5 of the Five power conferences goes 13- O in the same season minus four playoffs spots, one will be left out despite doing everything they could possibly do.
The SEC Commissioner's favorite show is apparently a puppet program for kids. He does have a point though..."One of these things is not like the other." Yep...one of these "things" has a loss, and the other doesn't.
Dude Jordan Travis foot was facing the other way in 4K. The issue is the FSU backups are god-awful. If those QBs were competent, FSU would be in. BTW people are mad it's Alabama who got the 4 seed. If Georgia beat Alabama, FSU would have been in because you couldn't put Alabama in without Texas due to head to head.
FSU did everything they needed to do and were still left out. SEC Bias is unreal. 13- 0 and two teams with one loss still got in. It is crazy and pathetic. How winning a ACC Championship against a top 15 team with a 3rd string quarterback who is a true freshman making his first evert start is not impressive. This is just about the money and the SEC ties it is an abslute joke and travesty. No committee can say one player holds this much value. They still found a way to win!
I feel bad for FSU and there's no rule that says you have to win on offense with their starting quarterback out a really good quarterback did they beat a power 5 in-state rival at their home place the swamp which isn't easy a easy place to play and then win conference Championship by beating a good Louisville team who's probably definitely a top 15 team in the country, but Alabama beats the number one team in the nation looks like they've gotten better as the years going on and they have the best coach ever so Alabama always gets the benefit of the doubt it said if I was a FSU player or fan or involved in the school in any way I'd be upset however I think the committee unfortunately made the correct decision I'm not going to say right I'm going to say correct cuz if FSU would have gotten there I would have had no problem with it
Im a Texas fan, but there is no chance had UGA won, Texas would've jumped FSU, even though the logic wouldve still been the same. I think thats what FSU fans should be most frustrated about. The fact Bama won killed FSU because there was no chance SEC champ was being left out.
Truth is if FSU’s QB had not gotten hurt, Bama would have jumped Texas and the rest of the day would have been spent justifying the committee’s decision.
And by "can't perform" you mean what? Win? Cause FSU was down 13-0 before Travis got hurt, but the team won the game. Then the next week, they won another. And the week after that, they won their Conference Championship. And between all three of those game (after the injury), FSU allowed one (quite disputable as a gift from the refs) touchdown.. So, what do you mean "can't perform"? Do you mean they don't look as pretty as another team winning. Okay? So what? Then just admit this is a beauty pageant and the prettiest get a chance to compete.

Michigan’s reaction to the #4 selection says everything we need to know. They didn’t care about FSU.
Uh the committee literally gave them a chance to prove they didn’t need Jordan Travis. That’s why they were still ranked in top four up until the final rankings. How can you not see this?
FSU did prove they didn't need Travis to win. Cause that's exactly what they did.
Let's breakdown the 5 pieces of the criteria:
1. Conf Champions - Draw
2. SOS - Bama
3. Common Opp - FSU
4. H2H - N/A
5. Key injuries - Bama
I believe FSU should've been in, however the criteria the conferences agreed upon favors Bama.
No need to worry if a QB gets hurt between now and the games they will all self report and pull out of the playoff because they all know just how important it is to have their number 1 QB.
Boo should had said more about bama having better wins and and beating the back to back national champs thats better then anything Florida State did
FSU won every game in a power 5 conference. Alabama didn't. Plain and simple. FSU should be above Texas and Alabama. Alabama needed a a prayer to beat Auburn They struggled to score against USF. and Alabama had two bye weeks when they scheduled Chatanooga in the middle of the season.
@@wesleyball1205 Chattanooga is better than North Alabama

@@wesleyball1205 in your dreams maybe
Exactly.
The community didn't want a tcu issue again. When they play georgia in the bowl game and if georgia blows them out the committee will feel more comfortable with there decision
Right is subjective
Bama has the better body of work it's a no brainier
Yea because FSU isn’t a quality brand name at all.
FSU does NOT have a better resume than Bama bro! 4 best teams. NOT 4 most deserving.
I cant take anyone from the SEC saying "the best 4 teams" seriously. If you asked them the best 4 teams are all in the SEC.
At the start of the video you wondered why FSU was ahead of Ohio St and Georgia. That would be because FSU was a conference champion, and that matters in the playoff criteria
Bros it’s a 1 loss SEC champ Bama. They putting em in. It’s fine.
The "Alabama being better than FSU" is a hypothetical agrument. You never know until the game is played.
We'll see when they play Georgia if the committee got it right or wrong.
@@RonTDB Will you give them credit if neither team plays at full strength due to opt outs?
@@CBORR2 Yep! No excuses. If they want to prove the committee wrong they should play UGA like it's their super bowl and the way they've played the past couple of weeks I don't think they would stand a chance against UGA's 2nd string, much less 1st string.
@@RonTDB Fair enough. I've just heard a lot of others saying just the opposite about them giving them credit.

So what could FSU done differently to keep them in the to 4 post- Travis injury?
Someone paid the committee to put Texas and Alabama in the playoff. It is plain and simple. I don't know why no one is discussing how much the committee got paid. My guess is a million each from both schools.
This is why we need a 12 team playoff
As a Texas fan I wanted Michigan all day ever day!
Tim Brando is da man!!!!!
What's being ignored amid all this outrage is bama winning the SEC championship game is the ONLY thing that happened to even create the chaos for FSU to have meaningful consideration in the discussion. Think about it, in hindsight, we see the committee was already going to put Texas in over FSU. The other 3 (Mich, GA, Wash) would've been a lock if GA wins. So 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 bama winning, FSU is totally out.
Love the show, this is the best episode ever, Timmy B is the man, speak the truth, shout out to Booger McFarland for being the only one with Cajones on that stupid clown show
TCU is a BIG reason Alabama is in. The committee and the network will not allow another team like TCU.
The committee simply followed the instructions of the powers that be at ESPN! This is why ESPN would never 15:03 have allowed any type of system based on merit rather than subjectivity.
How do you turn a league with 133 teams that only has a 12 game regular season into something without subjectivity.
FSU won the national championship in 2013.. are you confused?
@@ryandickey2997 *2014
Yall said the same thing about Georgia yet we went 92 yards down the field methodically and scored.
Exploit the bad integrity and character of the CFP. Disruption brings about change!
Can't wait to hear Jake and Tim cry about Bama getting in, lol.
OMG. FSU was ranked high, even with qb hurt a couple of weeks ago because they gave them a couple of games to prove they were great without him
Yes a 100%chance because they only had one loss and they beat the number one team. If they didn't get in then your saying that Georgia wasn't the real number one team and it was just too good teams playing. Come on man

Doesn't 0 wins equal best loss?
Absolutely, record and undefeated. Both are conference champions, so that is a wash. Alabama has best win and a significantly higher strength of schedule. So, based on that criteria it’s a toss up; therefore, outlier criteria has to be considered.

would oddsmakers and college football know make FSU a favorite against any team in the top five thru top ten right now? If the answer is no, then how could anybody say they are a top four team.

It’s not that you don’t have your quarterback, it’s that you can’t perform without your quarterback
