  • Around 3-10% of men will experience depression during the postnatal period. Depression in new fathers has been found to begin before the birth of their child, with minimal recovery by the end of the first year.
In an attempt to come to terms with what is happening in his head, Ryan decides to open up about what’s going on and postnatal depression. With the power of conversation he has been able to take some pressure of his chest and begin dealing with these issues.
Josh also shares about when his son and daughter were born. What he experienced and how he dealt with it. Dylan joins in and discusses his 20 year battle with obsessive compulsive disorder and how he had the power to finally do something about it.
If you are experiencing mental health problems, please speak to someone. Whether it be family, friends, a doctor, or even us, do not be afraid to seek help.

17:02 I imagine Dylan's dad sitting down with the Psych and immediately blurting out "I never touched him you know" ... The Psych is like "Okay, yes I don't think that's quite why Dylan wanted you here".. "I just want that to be known right from the start" (Dylan's dad looks around the room for a stenographer) - Dylan is just super fucking embarrassed.

On a more serious note, before Josh considers taking an SSRI (assuming he's been prescribed something like Escitalopram) talk to a professional first - And that does not mean a bulk billing GP. He can organise a free meeting with a mental health nurse through a GP and get referred to a psychologist. There could be so many reasons for your symptoms and medication might not be the way. Talking from experience.
