Legacy 600 | The first Embraer business jet
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- The Embraer Legacy 600 is a business jet created by the Brazilian company Embraer in the early 2000s on the basis of the ERJ-135 regional passenger aircraft. It is Embraer’s first jet in business aviation.
The Legacy 600 belongs to the super-midsize class and can accommodate, on average, 10-13 passengers in a luxury configuration. Currently, Embraer is supplying an upgraded Legacy 650 with similar dimensions and capacity, but with improved on-board systems, comfort and flight performance.
Today we will get to know the Legacy 600 family on a tour of one of these aircraft flying in the fleet of business aviation operator Sirius Aero.
Thank you for watching!

I worked the EMB-135/145 and Legacy for almost 20 years. We also were the only operator of the 145XR for a while. The XR has many of the same mods on the Legacy, like the strakes in the rear, the lowered keel beam, the flap gap shrouds, the ventral tank behind the wing box and lots of others. The plane where very maintenance friendly and pilots seemed to enjoy flying them. I've worked everything from MD-10/11, A300/310, 757,767, ATR, EMB-120, B1900 and on and on, the EMB-145 was by far, my favorite. Thanks for the video, lots of good memories.
Marked.
nice, A300 use yoke right?
@@JuraimyAirlineManager yup, no side stick.
@@embfixer ehehehe
I havn't found them maintenance friendly but not too bad. Could be worse could be a bombardier.
Legacy 600/ERJ pilot here. As always this was a great presentation. The Legacy and the rest of the ERJ family are well-engineered machines and quite fun to fly. Since you seemed to like the lavatory so much I'm surprised you didn't mention that the toilet also has a built-in bidet haha.
What a beautiful business jet! As always, your videos are always informative and interesting. Thank you for the upload!
Excellent video, I enjoyed it a lot.
I had a significant role in the entry of Embraer into the Executive Aviation market, setting up and leading the International (non-American) side of the business. So I've followed the whole story so far closely.
Most of the commentary is accurate, only a few minor details wrong.
There are many, many interesting stories about Embraer's entry in this market, but ultimately the vision was of a gentleman called Sam Hill. He is the father of the aircraft that became known as the Legacy and that name is down to him. The 600 was a later addition to establish a family structure as we added the Phenom's and Lineage into the mix.
The initial motivation and contract for the development of the aircraft was so that it could be used by a charter provider for NetJets additional lift, and the initial design was a configuration copy of the NetJets GIV-SP with a rear galley.....an aircraft that never actually got built. The first Legacy's were sold to an internal client (one of the Embraer shareholders, and a single aircraft business jet sale of an Embraer was to a Japanese private buyer. I know, I made that sale myself, using a Falcon 2000 brochure, as an example of a business jet, as we hadn't yet received the first printed materials of our new jet :-)
I look forward to reviewing other videos, as you have done good research.
I've flown many hours on the aircraft in the video as one of Embraer's demonstrators....nice to see the refitted interior. Sirius Aero have a good aircraft there, but sadly only A1P engines..and consequently probably a significantly less range than a 'standard' Legacy as most had the A1E engines and some weight reduction.
i always love the legacy 650 shape and front
Embraer is making some sexy planes these days. Nice.
Traded up from a GIV to a Legacy 600 for our IPO roadshow and it was outstanding. I only wished we had used it for the entire trip.
I am astounded that you call that a 'trade up'. I am also delighted. Back when both aircraft were sold competitively the GIV was considered a class (or two) above the Legacy...it cost 50% more, and had higher performance. However for the average missions the Legacy did offer a real competition in value for money terms.
@@NeilPatton1962 The Legacy configuration was much better
@@jealva well that is good to hear.
Sky you bring us the best, thank you.
As a Brazilian I agree one hundred percent with everything you said :)
you should come to Brazil!
Embraer orgulho do Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Great video! I currently fly the emb 135/145 and love flying it. Solid aircraft without too much automation.
Great video, I'd love to see some more Embraer airplanes featured in this channel, like the Preator (that is replacing the Legacy) or the new KC-390 Millenium, though I think it will be hard to find content about them.
Keep up the good work!
What a beautiful eye catching jet plane!!
Great video on a subject I really know nothing about, business jets and Embraer
Been looking forward to a new vid thanks
Well done!
thanks sky really cool video
Excellent video. Same as usual.
Only the tip of the winglet broke off the Legacy in that mid-air collision. That means that if Embraer had not introduced winglets in this model, nobody on the Boeing would have died.
Interesting position. And if Embraer flew a feet higher the would crash both
@@flyerkiller5073 Yes, my point was that there is some dark butterfly effect going on here
you're right lmao
@@lestereo Yeah but attributing controller error to the plane?
Note that the damage to the Legacy extended to the tail, where some portions of the horizontal stabilizer was sliced off by left winglet of the Boeing 737.
Sky, I came here to say that your English has been getting much better.
Sweet machine.
Looks good!
Hello Aviation Fans Sky here
Okay I'm sold. I'll take one with an onboard gaming room.
lol boutta get 200ms ping
fun fact...
Embraer just announced they will develop a new turboprop able to seat between 80 and 100 passengers
Pretty good replacement for old planes, I guess. But...
She's a real beauty, it's good to know that "she hasn't killed any passengers yet" mate.
Lol I work on the phenom 300 for Embraer 😎
So cool.
Fantástica aeronave 😲😲🙏🙏✌️✌️👊👊
Sky, the 145xr had standard winglets.
Prigozhin, of Russia, along with his friends, will be the first men to have died in this jet.
Good video
Very nice.
Embraer the best
Wish you can do one video like this on Embraer Lineage 1000E
a legacy 600 crashed with the GOL Boeing 737 and made it safely to the ground, keeping everyone on board alive and well (The 737 was not so lucky). This plane can't be too bad.
Vladimir Putin: Are you sure about that?
Wonderful as always. Still stuck record that I am if you could do a kN to lbs thrust that would be great. I can convert everything else in my head but not thrust.
kN is universal and lbs works not everywhere, some people want kgf I guess
I’ve seen lots of foreign content about Embraer and most of foreigners pronounce the company’s name wrong, as a brazilian, let me clarify how to pronounce it: N-BRAH-AIR.
Thanks for your videos, btw.
Can you do one of your videos about the Embraer 110 Bandeirante
Wondering if ERJ-145LR converted into larger Legacy & powered by (if) HTF10000.....then I'm curious about the max range would it be...🛫🤓
You should do the Phenom
RIP Perguzhin
Actually its three new tanks, The belly tanks are two separate tanks.
Interesting facts)
It's actually 4 tanks. The tanks are also split in the rear.
I suggest doing the Vickers VC10 and C17 Globemaster.
why is the global hawk notorious?
Could you advise why this plane has additional stabilizer fins under it's tail?
It's a complicated story.....but one simple thing is they look a lot 'cooler' than the first solution the engineering team proposed to us to solve the issues the strakes eventually solved. That first idea was tail mounted barn doors (aka the Beach 1900D)..and as ugly as sin. I have never seen any photo of the porotype we were shown, as probably all destroyed as the aircraft was way, way too ugly to be Brazilian.
The strakes solution is fine.....even if they didn't totally absolutely solve all the issues.
If you look carefully there's also a yaw damping 'mini-rudder' back there....and under the belly of the aircraft a keel, like a ship.....!!!
All right Sky you got a sale, I have a trade in a slightly used well cared for Piper J-3 Cub. I'm willing to part with it and include a $1,000. And the cub doesn't use to much gas. I'm waiting.☎️
Congratulations 🎉👏 of being the top comment 👍😁 (as of now 😈)
OK, Aaron, that was a week ago. Are you still waiting? 😏
@@gilbertfranklin1537 Well he didn't laugh at the offer, but did say to check back on February 30th so i still have a chanc..... Wait a minute 🤔!!
I wanna know how they got a video of the 650 I fly.
what time stamp

How much are they? I played Euromillion for this week.
You'd get a decent one for $5 million currently..plus or minus a $million.
@@NeilPatton1962 now they are $9-10MM
@@LLWCorp Well, it depends on a lot of things..if you have $3mil+ then we should chat.
@@NeilPatton1962 just bought one-- $9.3. $3mm wont get u squat except a fractional...
@@LLWCorp Do a bit of research and you'll find I may just know a wee tad more about the subject than you :-) That's a polite hint, as I don't even know who you are and am 100% sure I am still right.
That said, prices go up and down and available machines on the marketplace, plus you have to have access beyond the market place. I was also being fairly general over the last period and likely future to give a reasonable range of expectation. Today is there one available at exactly $3mil? I really don't know, I'll have to call around..but my network is comprehensive for this aircraft.
Forget the Aircraft, who is that Pretty Stewardess? :P
What cockpit is it at 9:36, with a side stick?
Praetor 500/600
I have one question which is better citation x plus vs preator 600
@@taneyadasmandal1901 Well Embrear dont make their planes easy for maintenance but Cessna are worse so i will say the Praetor 600

@@mybumbrash I thought citation were good planes
13:45 shared armrest lol
Is the Legacy 650E the only variant of the EMB135/45 series that is currently in production?
No, her little sis, the Legacy 500 is currently in production too. Beyond the Legacy familiy Embraer has it evolution, the Praetor 500/600 series and the smaller Phenom 100/300/300EV series
@@filipeprestes3754 the legacy 500/550 is of a different design than the 600/600/650E, similar to how the 767 and 777 are different designs.
"Legacy planes did not kill anyone in the entire time they been flying"
Well, they did kill 154 people in the accident mentioned, the victims just were not in the Legacy.
Also the two Embraer pilots were not arrested despite deliberately turning off their transponder after disobeying ATCs instructions.
@@Giskard_Reventlov These are questions for pilots and air traffic control. This is not the plane's fault
@@Giskard_Reventlov I thought it was a transponder failure or malfunction, leading to the inability to communicate with ATC and other aircrafts on the frequencies
@@ervandrush3116 Also, Most Aviation related incidents are on Pilot error, with few incidents of mechanical error or weather-related
@@Middy_37 No, the pilots had TCAS off
12:18 classy
Attendant's seat? Do they use the client restroom?
No, there is a seat on the LH side as you enter and also a cockpit pull down jump seat that is very comfortable as I've flown around the World on it. So two seats useable by FA's.

Grow up. Always someone looking for attention has to try and degrade a wonderful video.
@@BillHosko Making a humorous comment does not degrade the video.
Actually, there is somewhere in the Embraer archives a very 'humorous' (and fake) flight test report on the divan, based around that exact scenario. I know, I wrote it.....!!!...on a very long ferry flight over central Russia......
This type of jet crashed in Russia, with Prigozhin aboard.
Sky chips put the embraer legacy 600 in Spanish translation please
Very nice but nothing to compre to Gulfstream
RIP Prigozhin, at least you went out in style. Now Russia is doomed.
eyyy face reveal!
Nice plane, but I prefer the Gulfstream 650 and 650ER.
So do I, but you can have two of these for the price of a Gulfstream..and run them both 400 hours a year for 5 years, just to park the G650ER on the ramp. You really aren't comparing apples with apples here.
Haha no. The operating cost for 400 hours for one of these is $1.7 million a year, multiplied by 2 is $3.4million. The G650ER doesn't cost anywhere near that for 400 hours, it's more like $2.4million.
@@ARTDEVGRU247 clearly you need a crash course in the cost of money....and depreciation costs...neither of which you have considered.. and as they are 70% of the total costs at a guestimate, they are very worth considering.
@@NeilPatton1962 clearly you need a crash course in the difference between running costs and depreciation.
Anthony, you have the opportunity here to learn something or to play the idiot.
Your choice.
For the sake of argument, you have a $5million jet...(Legacy) depreciating at lest's say 10% a year....so $500k. Actually in the real World it is just about appreciating, but forget the real world for now.
The cost of money for a $5K loan lets say a whopping 5%.......so another $250K a year. Opportunity cost of Capital...let's just assume you need a jet.
So each legacy above operating costs has a $750K 'financing' cost.
Now a $75million G650....let's pretend only 5% depreciation.....so $3,750,00 a year..initially. In the real world a new machine is a chunk more capital than this..... Then financing that capital sum at a mere 1.5% adds another $1,125,000
...so a nice round $5mil of financial cost....
Legacy ois about $3,500-$4000/hr for ops costs, but lets go wild and say $5K
2x400x$5000 = $4mil add in the $1.5 for financing and you get to
$5.5mil for two aircraft and 400 hrs a year paid......
$5mil sits you a G650 on the ramp not moving, and not even insured.
What I said...........
Take the time to learn. It'll be good for you :-)
"Legacy 600" - The first Embraer business jet? Yuh. That makes a lot of sense. If it's Embraer's first one, how was there a legacy?
Because there are 1200 Legacy 600 flying around, that's how
@@OLCampos97 There were not 1200 Legacy 600 flying around before the first Legacy 600 was made. You don't understand the point.
Actually the first was the Legacy 450 😌
The 'Legacy' name was to illustrate that the aircraft and the company had a long Legacy of building quality aircraft. We were entering a new market sector where the companies reputation and history was mostly unknown, so the name was well chosen. Initially it was only Legacy, the 600 branding came later as we introduced the Phenom and Lineage to create a family link. We also had the Legacy shuttle.
каво ?
My cat is a full blown homosexual.
Was there any "early warnings" or did the cat just drop it on you outta nowhere?
No he is not, cats only say that when they walk out of the closet, because they think it's a new trend.😆
The Wagner Group
My god that interior... did they hire Donald Trump as designer?
EMBRAER will never measure up to Bombardier & Gulfstream.., but they do offer jets much lower in price than their two competitors.
I think the market has shown your statement to be incorrect. Bombardier & Gulfstream have developed some excellent products, often with a focus more to ultimate performance than actual 'good value'..and business sense. Then again at the top of business, there isn't always a lot of business sense and a lot more 'ego'...so they aren't incorrect on their focus.
