    Hi Tom! Finally committed to drop shot and roboworms and have caught 2 Largemouth and 2 Smallmouth in the last 4 trips out from the dam and lagoon!! Thank you for all your comments and tips! Is drop shot effective all year? What do you focus on in Summer, Fall and Winter...from shore of course!!! Thanks!!

      Glad to hear you've had some success. I love hearing about other people catching fish.
      Drop shot can be effective year round, but I've had the most luck with it in the spring and early summer. Once the fish start going deeper in the summer it gets really tough from shore. Summer through fall your best bet is to luck upon some early morning boils.
      In the last two weeks, the shore bite has really grinded to a halt. I get an occasional fish here and there but nothing consistent and nothing big. The bass are dialed in on the silversides and shad and don't seem to have much interest in anything else.

      Yes it is. And it was just in time because the shore bite pretty much just died at the end of last week.

    Hey Tom, thanks for posting! Your knowledge is very helpful to a new angler like me. How do you keep the boat in the right position on windy day?

    • @TomGoesFishin
      @TomGoesFishin  4 роки тому

      It's not easy. I use the motor, alternating between neutral and reverse as necessary. But typically once it gets windy I'll drift a split shot rig again alternating between neutral and reverse to control the speed of the drift.

    • @TomGoesFishin

      They allow up to 4 people on the boat but I've found that any more than 2 gets pretty crowded

    nice! are the shad spawning there and is there any tackle store near there that has live shad?

    • @TomGoesFishin
      @TomGoesFishin  4 роки тому

      The shad can be found up shallow if you know where to look. No stores will have them as it is illegal to transport them from the lake where they were caught and/or sale them.

    Thanks for posting the videos Tom. Looks like your rig of choice is the drop shot. Do you recommend that over other set ups while in a boat?

    • @TomGoesFishin
      @TomGoesFishin  4 роки тому +1

      At the moment, yes. There are other rigs that are sometimes more effective for me but right now the drop shot has been the most effective.

    Last month I went to castiac with my buddy we was dropshottn Lol there was tons of snag and lost lots hooks &weights .. how deep were you fishing at on the rental?

    • @TomGoesFishin
      @TomGoesFishin  4 роки тому

      Most of the fish we caught were relatively shallow but near deeper water. It seems to vary a lot recently as they have been raising and lowering the water level a lot and I'm the sure the fish are all screwed up because of it.

    So I'm fairly new to castaic lake.any recommendations on decent fishing spots to fish in a rental boat? Been here a couple of times but always shore fishing and it never worked for me.

    • @TomGoesFishin
      @TomGoesFishin  4 роки тому +1

      This is a tough one to answer as it changes all the time. Last time I was out the fish were starting to move a little deeper but a week later and that could all change.

    Awesome video! I watch your videos and like your technique, do you use circle hooks since I see you wind into them instead of a hard set? Thanks

      I use gamakatsu drop shot hooks. They're pretty similar to circle hooks.

    • @TomGoesFishin
      @TomGoesFishin  4 роки тому

      A size 4 hook might be okay for night crawlers. For drop shotting a roboworm I wouldn't go smaller than a size 2, personally.
