Yeah, 3-minute friday is back!!
Focused explanation to something I was curious about. Thanks.
The tartar bow is a dedicated war bow although the sepahi was used for war its not as effective against armor and is more of a sporting bow ,I've seen pictures of some Turkish war bow and they look like a hybrid of the two
I love the 3 minutes Friday! and I must say the image quality is great! No direct sunlight does help. I own a Alibow FG Tatar and a Istvan Szimeiszter Ottoman, my khatra and arrow flight is much better with the Ottoman bow, and there for also accuracy. But these together with the Snake are the only bows I ever used in my life.
Not a historian either but had wondered about this. Thanks!
Another nice 3 minutes Friday. Always good to know information. Thanks Armin 👍
Turkish and Tatar are the same nation. I love all my people
Of course they are, yet bowbuilder call the ottoman style Turkish and the Tatar Tatar :)
NO THEY AREN'T!
YES THEY ARE !!! 🤦🏻♂️
@@kaanc3374 No they aren't! Even the language is different.
Nope. Language is same and nation is one. Turk=Tatar
Both designs are beautiful. Turkish preferred for me so far.
Thank you for the true historical explanation of these beautiful bows.
Both these designs look so good to me. I want to see some one 3D print a bow.
Congratulations with a new quiver Mr Hirmer., and grate info on a Friday :)
Super clear explanation! Thank you so much Armin :-) looking forward to more videos in this series.
It so strange to see you with a quiver 😁
Excellent video as usual
I made him a quiver he doesn't have to fiddle with the belt
instructive thank you for sharing your knowledge with us
you have gone over the different bow styles and some of the different draw styles... im haveing a hard time finding different styles of holding arrows in hand
thanks Armin enjoy your new range!
How to buy a Turkish bow
Very informative, love it.
And: I see a quiver, you go smart-mode, eh? 😋
exelent topic, thank you for the information, it would be awesome if you can make a series of videos where you talk about each bow because as you said the line gets blurry sometimes
I love the tatar design. It was so effective that the tatar design was used all over Eurasia. Chinese and Indo-Persian bows also have similar designs.
I've seen Chinese bows that look like tartar bows
Thanks again!
Nice video man you explained it amazingly, Thanks for that 🤙
Beautiful bows!
Please do others too: Assyrian, Avar, Mughal, Persian, Mamluk, etc 👍🏼😃
All of them actually different variation of Turkish (nomad) bow.
@@kaanc3374 yes they are all variations from Central Asia.
Awesome, thank you.
Yeah it’s so cool do with other kind like Mongolian korean Scythian assyrian etc . Really good explanation
Great video! Thanks!
Turkish bow for my needs 👍
thank you so mutch for your very intersting vidéo it is a persious help for my choice:tatar bow bicomposite by grozer
Armin hirmer your are the best thank again
Yes ,3 minute Friday .
I've been internet yelled at because I said a tartar bow was a turkish bow .
And yelled at in same way cause the hungarian bow was a design cousin .
Yet . Tartars are turkic . The tartar bow was widely used as was magyar/hungarian bows .
People move, always have and ideas move with them .
Cheers n keep having fun .
me too hahahaha
Tatar is a general name for various Kipchak Turks, while "Turkish" bow specifically refers to bows used by Seljuk and Ottoman Turks, or various other Oghuz Turkic tribes at the most extent. Albeit being related ethnicities, geographically they are different, hence their bows seperately evolved in different geographies, although sharing a common ancestor. So naming Tatar bows as "TurkISH" bows would be misnaming on par as calling Viking/Scandinavian longboats as "German longboats"
Great information thank you sir.
Armin, you've mentioned in the past that you are a fan of the Manchu bows, but I'm curious. What is your favorite type of bow?
I like too many :)
Probably anything that does long draw
Mr Hirmer, can you please make a comparison video between Turkish and Mameluke bows?
Nice bow
Thank you Armin: That was very helpful, as the handle would seem most important, how it fits or fights your hand. For example, the new version of Bear takedown riser has a flat side, whereas the older version has a nicely rounded bulb, which, as it were is just the shape of the inside of my palm. So, you can get used to (the void of ) the one but it doesn't feel as naturally fitting and comfortable as the older one. Too bad Malta is so far away!
Thanks, randy c
Both 3 is Altai :D
I gotta start checking out the recurve Turkish bows. Liking how compact they are. Would definitely carry one as a back up for the hunts I’m gonna be doing. Why? Is a compact bow and I can carry it because they are small.
Ur the man
Tatars or Ottomans all came from Ancient Huns in one way or another . So i wasn't surprised for their bows to be similar in many ways their even language are still %80 similar xD
One of the most effective bow design for no hesitation btw.
GJ Armin.
''Subscribed allready'' Yikes
Tatars are mongolians who settled in Europe! The Hungarians are the old huns and they don't look like tatars.
@@orhanabd1724 Tatars are not mongolian...We are pure Turkic lol. We speak Turkic our roots and culture is similiar with other Turkic people like chuvash kipchaks uzbekhs ottomans seljuks etc You cant know what i am better then me.Hungarians are another story...
@@multitalentedman1284 Why I can't know better than you?
@erkuttimur8794 🤦♂️ Look at the eyes of tatar and turk! Tatars have asiatic face and eyes and turks more to arabs
@@orhanabd1724 Tatars are Turks
Hallo tolles Video,
Danke für die Informationen.
Wo kriege ich solche tataren oder türkische bogen her ?
Hallo. Es gibt viele Anbieter vom
fiberglass Bogen über laminiert bis biocomposit. Auf meinem Kanal findet man viele Reviews
Here is a Suggestion for a 3 Minute friday: do different Arrow Rest Materials such as cow leather, stingray skin, Wood etc. Influence accuracy or arrowflight? I Made an interesting finding but i would Like to See the expert 😁🐯🦁
Hehe I will ask an expert then :) but I can see what I can do, interesting topic, thank you
Please add the sound level when recording. Otherwise, there are not enough adjustments. Badly audible.
hmmm, just checked again here on my iMac, audio is on half and its clear and loud enough. sorry if its not good enough for you
@@ArminHirmer I also have IMAC. But the sound is weak. On other UA-cam channels this problem does not arise for me. You are a very calm person and are not used to speaking loudly). This is good, but I want to hear you well.
@@олегтунаков yes... the sound of microphone it is a bit low.... I can notice once the ending vignetting comes and gets much louder.
@@олегтунаков yeah new mic, failed on me today twice... going back to the old one
Armin can you please make a Hunnic, Mongol and Mughal bow difference all three of them have reletevly long siyahs.
I see what I can do
Great video no dislikes yet😺
wait, the Americans are still sleeping :)
Lol good point Armin
@@ArminHirmer Loved your info. and video. Thank you very much, sir.
the audio seems quite quiet on this one
could you do a comparison of Turkish and Korean bows at some point? i see allot of history books say one or the other was the most powerful in history witch do you think is more powerful/efficient?
yes, once I have my Korean War bow from Lukasz Nawalny, I will do
Lo felicito. Lamentablemente el volumen bajo no me permite escucharlo correctamente

Great video. Were they both used at the same time as each other (by the same group of people) or is one newer than the other?
Cześć, bardzo Fajny film - Ciekawy ...
Siemanko.
: )
Best👍
I need my channel you tube back is amazing the best in information and entertainment
All three are the same nation. All three are Turkish. There are Tatar Turks all over Russia.
Awesome. Which one do you prefer to daily practice?
I am more a Tatar now guy
Tartar bow looks like ming bow. Same thing to me. Any difference? Ming moon 3 and 6 is the same thing as tartar
very similar, ming have just different design siyahs
Wonder which bows tamerlane used in his campaigns?
who is that?
What's the website that you used to get the yellow tartar bow as I'm looking for my second bow to use along side my 1st version of the arc rolan snake bow.
Wich one are the most powerfull and shoot far ???
I didn't use the right wording about an authentic turkisy bow, disregard that comment. I order one from Amazon . Thanks.
The public now h what s the best; obviously YOU TUBE
What kind of arrows are you using
sungur carbon, customised
Tribes is differant. Ottoman is Oguz, Tatar is Kıpchak turk.
what is the longest strung tartar bow made.
I dont know
@@ArminHirmer Thanks Armin I should have explained a little, I am just under 6' 2" and have a draw length of 34" from the belly of the bow to to the corner of my mouth, for some reason I do not understand, short bows feel uncomfortable to shoot, I would like a horse bow, 66" at present I shoot a 68" recurve take down, I guess I must be looking for the perfect bow fit that may not even exist. thank you anyway, for all the insight and information you share with all of us.
@@pv-mm2or why then a Tatar bow? Check the Hou Yi Chinese Bow from Vegh, does 36" and looks similar. If not enough, AF has the Qing bow
Sipahi is a persian word and it means army
In the Ottoman language there are a lot of persian/turkic/arabic words. The vocabulary has a lot of persian words and even today in modern Turkish there are many persian words being used!
Tatars and Turks are two brother nations speaking the same language
Iam tatar turk
Tatar and Ottoman are Turkish.
I shoot my Tatar without. Thumb protection.
The Turkish bow is not a nice bow. It's a killing machine. For close combat. ,and leight weight arrows over a greater distance. Opposite of the English longbow who could send a heavy arrow over a great distance, that could kill man and horse.
which one is more practical? english archery is highly overrated. archery is only spectacular with a nomadic style on horses.
@@TheLightlessMoon English archers had better accuracy than horse archers, there is no debate. Being stationary and going to shoot after church every sunday for 10 years will make you a marksman. Whether you liked it or not, as it was a legal requirement.
@@TheLightlessMoon And Europeans used both longbows and composite bows. Emperor Maximillian, Hungarians, Polish cavalry, and used in crossbows.
@@chroma6947 to be born on a horse, then playing with a composite bow as a toy in childhood can't be compared with practicing once a week with a primitive wooden shit.
@@TheLightlessMoon primitive but they knew that yew formed a natural composite, primitive but they knew swiss yew was denser, primitive yet they added steam recurved tips, primitive yet they only used right winged feathers.
