Sean Van Pelt My husbands baptist but I'm Pentecost an we went to a Pentecost church he had backslided an wasn't saved I didn't speak in tongues yet I hadn't received the Holyghost yet.
My husband went to the alter that night he got saved an filled with the Holyghost I loved it.

Have you received the Holy Ghost since you have believed?
Not everyone has the same experience. Some have been Baptized in THE HOLY GHOST just washing dishes , digging a ditch or wherever, and however GOD chooses. GOD knows us. HE knows us. It's truly a HOLY experience. He's so amazing.
Everyone experiences the Holy Ghost by the evidence of speaking in another language. Where we receive it or the age can be unique but the unifying factor is speaking in tongues.

Born and raised in the UPC in Alabama, it was nothing to see men and women falling out or running in the spirit speaking in language I never heard. I never felt fear as a child, It's just something that always happened at church. I never had friends that would spend the night with me Saturday because they were too afraid of my church. I only had one friend that wasn't UPC, the rest of them were either family members who were all UPC or other church members. I never visited any church that wasn't United Pentecostal So I had no clue not all churches worship like this.
As a kid we would go to UPC camp every year, it was the best 2 weeks of my life because I wasn't the only girl who was wearing dresses everyday, they all were.
I longed to fit in. I wanted to know what it was like to wear pants and makeup. I tried so hard receiving the Holy Ghost every year at camp, I wanted to make my mother and Pastor proud.
I could feel the presence of the Holy Ghost so strong but I always held back. Never received the gift of the Holy Ghost.
(There is a point to my rambling, I promise.)
The UPC Church, I grew up in was very small, My pastor was and still is head over all the UPC churches in Mobile, It was a very small church with only an organ and a piano and no other instruments. No fancy sound equipment just microphones. We didn't even have cushions on the bench and during Revival our church attendance would get up to the 80s and that was considered a packed church.
So....there I was, double digits in age and all my cousins and family had spoken in tongues and I had resolved myself to never being able to receive the Holy Ghost because I secretly had desires to wear blue jeans and makeup. That's what I had decided.
One Sunday night, it was a regular Sunday night service, Pastor gave a good service, you could feel the Holy Ghost As he started doing altar call and his wife got on the organ as usual to play a tune. Ladies praying with ladies men with men bobby pins and shoes were flying and I was at my usual spot at the alter. The pastor would always come over and lay hands and Sometimes I would dread it because I know he would lay hands on me a little longer because he knew I wasn't filled with the Holy Ghost and I knew I was going to be letting everyone down once again. That's how I felt in my head anyway. And sometimes I wouldn't want him to pray over me in the first place because I would feel so good being around the spirit And I didn't want that to be ruined by not receiving the Holy Ghost.
But that night when he laid his hands on my forehead I prayed differently. I wasn't praying for God to fill me with the Holy Ghost. I wasn't asking God for anything. I felt amazing as I often did, but that night as Pastor laid hands on my forehead I started praying a prayer different from any I had ever prayed and I don't even know why. And Not only was I praying completely different but I was speaking it out loud. I was almost shocked by the words that was coming out of my mouth. I began to thank God. Instead of asking for the Holy Ghost. I was thanking Him for the amazing presence that I could feel, I thanked Him for my mama and my brother and sister who were somewhere shouting in tongues because I could hear them. I was giving God praise like I've never praised him before in my young life. When all of a sudden a wind came from somewhere, I couldn't tell you which direction the wind came from but it came down. And when it came down it went through me. It was a warm wind that felt like it literally went through me and at that very instant. I felt pure love like I had never felt before in my life. It was the most beautiful feeling in the world and I began to shout in tongues, I went from the altar all the way to the back of the church speaking in tongues And I have no idea how I got to the back of the church. I can only assume my church family just moved out of the way and let me walk in the spirit, or run in the spirit, I really don't know.
After I stopped speaking in tongues that feeling of love wasn't gone and all I could do was laugh and cry at the same time.
I was 12. 12 years old. And I remember not being caught up in finally receiving the Holy Ghost although I had so many members rejoicing with me over my gift, I remember thinking " I can't wait to make it to heaven if this is what it feels like up there". And every time I received the blessing for years after the Holy Ghost, It felt just as good as the first time.
My point is this, The Holy Ghost isn't going to be forced on you. Your body isn't going to be zapped and possessed, as I've often had people ask me.
And you don't have to beg for the Holy Ghost. You'll receive it when you're ready. It's not going to jump on you.
So if you're ever in a Pentecostal church, and you see people running into the pews, running the aisles, staggering around the pulpit or just laid out on the floor in laughter, they're all just fine, they're just feeling pure love.
I don't belong to a UPC anymore and I've did my share of things of the world, there's not a single drug on Earth that can replicate the feeling of receiving the Holy Ghost, believe me.

I know it's been awhile since you've posted that beautiful testimony. I was in the same situation I was trying to get the Holy Ghost a little over a year and a half every church service it was like I didn't know how to yield my tongue but one day it happened when I finally got the Holy Ghost everyone in the church shouted in the spirit and the ones that was backsliders started getting the Holy Ghost it was such a powerful move of the Holy Ghost.
But I to turned away from God and went out into the world but God has been dealing with me so I had to do something so I've started going back to church a good pentecostal Apostolic church it was very hard to find another good church that I used to go to there getting hard to find in some places. But I've been going back to church I'm trying to get my life straight and back together and let me tell you the devil doesn't like it at all the devil has attacked me in every way possible because he knows he's has a short time left and he knows he's gonna lose this battle I'm gonna pray back through to the Holy Ghost no matter what happens......Sister I pray that you do the same come back to God get back in church and let God fight your battles. Jesus loves you so much it doesn't matter what you have done you know he'll forgive you come on back home his waiting for you and your family.
You know your way back home but I do pray that you go back to church and give Jesus one more chance Jesus really loves you and he's calling for you....God bless you Sister in Jesus mighty name.....I hope to hear back from you soon that your back in church.

Many people seem to be getting the gifts of the spirits tounges and interpretation that’s mentioned by Paul and the tounges when you receive the Holy Ghost mixed up. When Paul was saying if everybody could speak and tounges and someone interpret he was referring to the gifts of the spirit not the Holy Ghost tounges.

I go to a non-denominational Christian Church and have friends that are Assembly of God pastors. But I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. Wish there was more shouting of amens and hallelujah’s in my church. Which I do shout myself. Make a joyful noise!!! The Holy Spirit comes upon me when I share the Gospel. I love Holy Fire Pentecostal preaching!!! Gives me glory bumps all the time!!

He's doing a very good job at addressing the issues people see with my wonderful church keeping them from entering . as a member it's refreshing to hear a pastor address these things using scripture as to why they shouldn't be done .
Amazing how people can read the Bible, and read how it says that you will speak in tongues when you get the Holy Ghost but because they disagree with that or because they didn't get that experience or because they don't want that experience they spend more time explaining that away, then just simply obeying the word. Of God. I'm so glad I have this truth I'm so glad I have the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongue's I'm so glad that I obeyed the word instead of trying to rationalize it away. READ THE WORD, OBAY THE WORD. QUIT DEBATING IT!
Acts 2:38, 10:46,19:1-6. All instances in the book of Acts which is the only book in the bible where people received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and in every instance they spoke with tongues as the Spirit of God gave them the utterance and glorified God. Chapter 13 in Cor. has a reference to the gift of tongues which should only be done in church if there is an interpretation otherwise the book says to let one keep silent and pray within himself to God BUT, if you go over to the 14th chapter of Cor. you'll see that Paul himself says that he speaks in tongues more than all of them. Now that reference is to prayer in tongues for personal edification for the Spirit makes intersession for us with groanings and utterances that we ourselves don't understand. You need to read a bit further sir. And please tell me if there is any other book than Acts where people receive the infilling of the Holy Ghost. You won't find it, I guarantee you. Also in your reference to the day of Pentecost the bible says that in the upper room they ALL began to speak in tongues. Now all others as I have pointed out in the book of Acts spoke with tongues also as the Spirit of God gave them the utterance. This is just "part of the package" it is standard when one is born of water and Spirit. Also allow me to point out John 3:8, The wind blows where it wishes and you HEAR the SOUND of it but you cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is EVERYONE who is born of the Spirit. That means that when someone is born of the Spirit you hear a sound. This is a clear sign or evidence of being filled with the Holy Ghost.

I got the Holy Ghost at youth camp when I was 9. Sis Vesta Mangun was the speaker that night. Three ladies stood me on the altar bench and were yelling things for me to say. Suddenly one leaned in to say something in my ear and bit me on the earlobe. I was turning my head to look at her because I was so shocked but then I crunched my eyes tighter and thought "no, she can bite it off but I'm going to get the Holy Ghost!" The next thing I knew I heard someone speaking in tongues and realized it was me! I started jumping and they set me on the floor. When I came down from my Holy Ghost Heavenly experience they said I had been dancing and speaking in tongues for an hour.

I beg you,if you can pray in the spirit, do it often, I was 14 when i believe i was able to do so,i also allowed sexual sin in my life,and instead of pressing into God,I walked away due to family trouble and being a dumb naive kid,I didnt know what a huge mistake I was making at the time,and I continued in sin to where I believe the holy spirit left me along time ago,dont tolerate sin like I did,pray yourself strong in the spirit, dont let satan steal your eternity like I did😭
God said he would never leave you nor forsake. What should stop you from the love of God? Nothing. All that's needed was for you to repent and come back to him. Your father is always waiting.
You can pray through and come back to the Lord and he will refill you with the Holyghost.

In Mark 16:17 Jesus said it himself! These signs "SHALL" follow those who "believe", they "SHALL" speak with new tongues! And the word in Corinthians says, if a man be ignorant, let him be ignorant! If it's not for today, then why do we have it?! You can't stop God!

The signs were for the Apostles and the Jews who always needed a sign..." Today, the church age "walks by faith... not by sight."
The Holy G fell on these small groups in Acts to authenticate what the larger crowds at Pentecost had experienced earlier so that the Jews wld see that the Gentiles too where recipient of the baptism of the HG.
Baptism here means "to be placed into the body of Christ. E g. The Gentiles too were included in the outpouring of the HG and r part of the body of Christ.
2. Re the small groups, "Other tongues" means other languages, just like what had happened at Pentecost earlier when the different groups there were speaking in their own tongues = "languages" real languages. Not gibberish. The passage states that these were "real languages" as it states that "everyone heard them speaking in their own languages..." and the text clarifies that.
Ev person who receives Christ receives the HG at conversion. See Eph
1: 1-21. as a start.
The HG in u is a "downpayment for ur eternal hope to be with Christ. It is wrong theology to state u have to beg for the HG

The HG does not knock anyone down. Where is the Scripture for this.
Again, all born again Christisns recv the HG at conversion. You cannot single out a few verses to make an argument for speaking in tongurs. You owe it to your Lord to delve into his word to get spirit_filled knowledge about him.

@@constancemitchell9846 I have several points in a dressing your points;
1) Because being saved is also being " born again" it involves a process. Jesus tryed to explain this to Nicodemus in John ch.3.
Just as physical birth is a process from insemination to actual birth so is spiritual birth. A woman recieving the seed of the man doesn't mean that she has given birth. Spiritually we recieve the "seed" of the Word at conversion and the process begins.
2) Being water baptized isn't just an outward sign of an inward commitment it is part of that process. A physical baby is encased in embryonic fluid( water) in the mother and comes out of the water as birth approaches. Spiritually the believer, after conversion, comes up out of the baptismal water. The physical baby comes out of the mother breathes in and crys to announce his successful birth to those nearby. The spiritual baby comes out of the baptismal water breathes in, recieves the Holy Spirit, and speaks in " tongues". When Jesus breathed on the apostles and said," Recieve be the Holy Spirit" He was showing them that the Spirit is breathed in. What's a person's natural reaction to air blowing in their face ? To breath it in.
3) Water and Spirit baptism are two parts of one baptism are crucial to the born again process. This one baptism constitutes being born of water and Spirit ( John ch.3).
In Acts ch. 19 Paul ran into certain disciples that had already been converted or he would have preached the gospel to them. The Word says nothing about him doing this.
Upon finding out that they hadn't recieved the Holy Spirit yet the first thing he does is ask them how they were baptized ? On finding out that they had only been baptized with Johns baptism he immediately rebaptized them in the name of Jesus Christ, lays hands on them and they speak in " tongues". How did Paul know that they had recieved the Holy Spirit ? Because they spoke in tongues.
Lastly, when the Protestant reformers broke away from the catholic churches " salvation by works" they went too far the other way to where necessary acts of obedience to the gospel became taught as "works". I'm sorry but you have been taught an incorrect path to salvation but all is not lost. Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and pray continually for the Holy Spirit baptism. The H.S. baptism is how the Holy Spirits' permanent indwelling occurs.
Don't let pride be your undoing.

It's hard for me to believe that people argue scriptures and try to find reasons not to believe they can receive the Holy Ghost the same way original believers received it. Thank God, out of all the ungodly and even satanic things I did in my life, at least I never argued against the saving truth of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord did finally get a hold of me and filled me with the Holy Ghost back in November of 1994, and I did speak in another tongue as the Spirit gave me utterance If your tongue, which is your most unmanageabe body part, is yielded to God Almighty, so will be the rest of your being. That's why God uses glossalia to prove to us we have been filled and indwelled. Having anyone else there to hear me speak in tongues was optional. I heard me. I felt what had happened. It was as real as breathing. It's a good idea to believe the truth and not argue with it. Anyway, I hope everyone who watches this video enjoys it and gets something good out of watching it. Initial sign is speaking in tongues . Gift of tongues is speaking in language not known to self. Mk 16:17cp 1 Cor 14:2,4. So the gift is different then the sign of belief. Water baptism must be as per My 28:19.

I saw a man seeking the Holy Ghost 35 years ago and for about 10 or 15 minutes he said all the right things and seemed to have the right attitude but then suddenly he changed and started shaking his fist towards Heaven and saying I hate you God! You won't give me the Holy Ghost! It scared me so bad. I couldn't get away from him fast enough. My Dad who was the Pastor stopped him and talked to him and told him he would never get the Holy Ghost like that. He tried to explain what he needed to do and find out why he acted like that but got no where with him. We never saw him again.

That is heartbreaking. The Holy Spirit is a gift. God would never let someone wait 35 years for this. No wonder the man was upset. We receive the Holy Spirit when we believe. Ephesians 1:13-14. We’re saved when we believe. Romans 10:9. Tongues being THE sign is never a commandment. Not one scripture commands it, not even the infamous Acts 2:38. It was AN evidence. Paul said do all speak with tongues? No. Tongues are a sign for unbelievers. This is why they went forth when the distinct people groups were given His Spirit in Acts. This was a transitional time. People can speak in tongues today but making this a requirement of salvation is works based and spiritually abusive.

I've never received the baptism of the Holy Ghost I gave my life to Jesus at the Elim pentecostal Church in 1988 I've never spoken in tongues.
Eventually in 1995 I returned to the Catholic Church and I've been their ever since. In 2013 I came across the Apostolic pentecostals and Oneness I've been watching these great preachers ever since especially Anthony Mangun and Lee Stoneking I especially like Jeff Arnold and Billy Cole.
I’m sorry to hear that. I know I have the Holy Ghost in me because I feel that fullness in my chest when I get deep in prayer. Do you get that? He was a Pentecostal. But it wasn’t until I went to a Pentecost Sunday service at my Assemblies of God (Pentecostal) church where the Holy Ghost overtook me…my whole body became electrified after we did the Holy Communion and I gave my life over to Jesus. The video of the service is on UA-cam if you’d like to give it a try. I don’t know if I could’ve received the Holy Spirit had I not attended church that day. It was so intense in person with the music, the Pastor speaking and everyone praying together to Jesus. So I was baptized in water May 1, spoke in tongues on June 1 and received the Holy Spirit on June 5, all in this year. I believe it’s really possible if you hunger for it and earnestly ask for it from Jesus with all your heart!

So many overlook the Scriptures. The "Cloven" tongues like as of fire IS the Holy Ghost tongues. The "Other" tongues as the Spirit gave utterance was the languages where in all the devout men from every nation under heaven spoke. Acts chapter 10 explains that you WILL speak with tongues and magnify God when you receive the HolyGhost. Peter said can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized seeing they have received the HolyGhost like as we? For they HEARD them speak with tongues and magnify God. YOU WILL speak with tongues when you receive the HolyGhost. If you haven't you DON'T have it. And for those of you who say it's not for us or other generations read John chapter 7:37-39. If you believe on Jesus as the scripture has said, you WILL receive the HolyGhost.

Have you spoke in a foreign language, then? Because as you JUST said- the upper room apostles received a one-time, unique gift- to be able to preach to all the other races and languages. THAT is an "other" tongue ( or language). The "UNKNOWN" Tongue- no man knows; it is the language of the angels- and we can obtain it, when The Holy Ghost speaks through us, to edify us. But it is CLEARLY not what they got in the upper room.

I just read a book about early Pentecost and I have to wonder, why haven't I experienced this in my life. I have had a life of defeat and suffering, in spite of seeking God. I know I need the baptism. I know haven't experienced it and it breaks my hear. May God show me his mercy.

And of course if you ask God to be filled with His spirit wherever you are, even at home, I believe you can receive it! But it helps to have people around you who can help you seek the Holy Ghost.

According to scripture, truly completely repent of sin, be baptized in JESUS name-not “father son and HolyGhost” and ask God to fill you with His spirit. Pray and worship. It is a Biblical promise that you WILL receive it if you do these things. I am praying for you! I wanna ask you a question: What does it means to truly completely repent of sin? I asked my pastor today about repent of Acts 2:38, but he was busy and he will answer in two days.

Keep them in an Apostolic Bible Teaching church. Let them be guided by the word so their spirits are stronger than what they hear in their daily lives and activities.

Can someone help me? I received the Holy Ghost nearly a year ago, and have struggled trying to speak in tongues ever since. Everyone around me tells me to remain patient and keep trying and I have but I must be honest, I'm beginning to feel hopeless, and feeling like I'm not only letting them down but God. I feel so far away from God, I wonder if it's a sign to just stop wasting everyone's time. Please someone, if you've ever struggled with this or seen it, help me. I don't want to burn for eternity.
Continue seeking God. Know that He is with you. Feeling far away doesn't mean you are far away. God loves you so much. He didn't suffer on that cross just to give up on you. I have felt far away and hopeless before, but God is right there, ready to receive you, ready to commune with you. Don’t give up. Trust Him, cling to Him, praise Him, pour your heart out to Him, and yield to Him. Seasons pass. God will never leave you or forsake you.

I need HELP please. I just done the baptism in watter on 22 July this yr but I have some issues receiving the baptism with Holy Spirit. They prayed, till now I have not experienced the speaking yet. The person who did my baptism, studied himself and his wife and baptised each other,nobody baptised them, but I did not see the fruit of patience, meekness etc in the guy who baptised me but oposite, and the person said he did miracles of healing, but we need to see the fruits not miracles. The baptism was done in Jesus name and a pastor said the corect one is Jesus CHRIST, or LORD Jesus as they are many men called Jesus. Is my baptism valid? Many thanks.
I did not speak in tongues when i received the Holy Spirit .. Not everyone does and i was saved at home .. Just seek Jesus with your whole heart .. He WILL come in and you WILL know when it happens
According to the Bible you must be baptized in Jesus name. Being baptized in Jesus name is how you destroy sin and are saved. Please don't confuse yourself with additional requirements that are not biblical. And as far as receiving the Holy Ghost, we see in the Bible those who receive the Holy Ghost and are confirmed by the apostles, speak in tongues. There is no example of someone receiving the Holy Ghost without speaking in tongues.
There is much confusing teaching about tongues. Lots of ambiguity.
I didn’t realize for years that I HAD TO SPEAK. I was waiting for a lightning bolt to strike me and force words out of my mouth.
I also thought I wasn’t repentant enough. I gave up all the overt sinning, but I knew I still sinned…
Everyone still sins. No one can completely stop sinning.

Only GOD can give you the Holy Ghost. Only God knows your heart.
Attend church where they are holy ghost filled. Try a church like Church of God In Christ. Pray for it, ask God to fill you so that you can service Him. Testify during testimony service and ask the church to pray that you will receive the Holy Ghost. When you are ready and God is ready for you to receive it you will. It's call the precious Holy Ghost for a reason. It's not something everyone gets but if you want it bad enough and you are sincere, you just may get it.

Can anyone answer me PLEASE!!? Can you receive the Holy Spirit if your in sin? There is this lady at church that seeks to be filled yet she hasn't gave up certain sins,I tell her she must repent and turn from them she says she can't( she is not even trying), so I tell her she must be willing to die to sin first( so she can LIVE) BUT the church, which I'm new to(new town), gather around her almost every Sunday to no avail. They tell her that when she receives the Holy Ghost she'll stop sinning, again, I tell her when she stops sinning she'll receive the Holy Ghost!! This church is part of UPC so I'm just asking is this how they believe!!???
Sin makes us unholy. The only thing that can make us holy is the Holy Ghost. She will NEVER have the ability to overcome sin without the Holy Ghost.
By Grace through Faith we Repent (We turn from sin unto God, we make a 180 degree Turn. We are born with a sin nature walking away from God, we Repent and walk toward God). "We get God to get Good because we CANNOT get Good to Get God". The Holy Ghost gives us Power Not to sin, to Please God, Bear much fruit etc... Jesus said without me you can do Nothing (John 15:5).
The church can't give her the Holy Ghost but it is their mandate to pray for such souls. Only God knows her heart, when she gets a revelation perhaps she will be willing. As Joshua said sin makes us unholy, the spirit of God will not enter an unclean temple and if it by God grace does, which I also have seen then the sin will not remain.

Tongues wont save you but the Holy Ghost will keep you holy which will give you salvation. If satan can't sin and stay in heaven then why can someone else sin and go to heaven? Baptism washes your sins away and the Holy ghost keeps you from sinning again therefore remaining Holy enough to enter that straight gate.

You must first repent of your sins..ask God to forgive you then turn away from those sins because sin seperates us from God
She needs to be baptized in Jesus Name and receive the Holy Ghost. You don't worry about her sin, if she is repenting and trying to move towards the Lord, then he will fill her with the holy ghost when he knows she is ready. The Holy Ghost will then guide her into all truth and she will overcome sin once she receives the Holy Ghost. If you could overcome sin all by yourself, then why would you need the Holy Ghost? You are carting the horse before the buggy.
