I got mine December 2014 from UK, broke down February 2015, sent it for repair which took a good 4 weeks, broke down again in October 2015, sent it back for repair which they told me that they changed the motor and extend my warranty for another year, got it back beginning of January 2016, last week broke down again. Now waiting to send it back next week for another repair.
I paid around £4500 for it, loved the idea when I first saw it in the Internet, but in reality I didn't find it reliable as it keep breaking down.

what kept failing on it?
I love this ! it may not be an anti tip but if you can pop off a side walk and you you don't bust your head and what saw it's kind of hard to fall back unless I guess you push it to extreme then you mind find out like all things know yourself and know your wheels.

Very good! I've got a M 25 for my wheelchair. They both, yours and mine, do similar for us, but you can drive your wheelz easier if no power's in the smarty and you can do wheelies. That's impossible for me exept for to master a curb for 2 seconds or shorter. To put the wheelz inside of a car is easier but lasts a bit longer with smart drive like to put it out. Weight is better. Next time I'd better use a smart drive! Then I could choose any wheelz I want to, with wheel suspension, too! I'm a bit sorry I didn't know that before!

Would it be possible to use to use is my wheelchair independently of the Smart Drive, keeping the Smart Drive attached ? Thanks 👍🏼
Yes! That is the major benefit of the SmartDrive, that it can be on your wheelchair but not needed or powered on and you will be able to use your wheelchair as if it wasn't there.
It just adds a bit of weight to the chair.

Munif Ishak I agree, the price is WAY too high. I could buy 3.5 fully customized lightweight wheelchairs for the price of one SmartDrive.
can only dream on it as i not wealthy...why world create this type of good stuuf only for the rich
The majority of wheelchair users this is aimed at have been in accidents and have insurance cash. Otherwise try crowdfunding it or gofundme. good luck.
Money will only be a problem until we finally reach a resource-based economy.

Tim Romero if you can provide a medical reason that you need a Smart Drive, they should provide it for you. Talk to the person that provides your wheelchair; they will communicate with Medicaid to get it covered. I’m in the process of getting a new wheelchair with Smart Drive, and my wheelchair guy is going to talk to Medicaid to get my Smart Drive covered. I hope this helps.
