I’ve loved this week. My husband and I used to take vacation to MB or Charleston area twice a year. Then three years ago I had to have back surgery and can no longer go. My oldest grandson is now a new Marine Recruit at Parris Island SC. He graduates boot camp Nov. 10 and I am praying I will be able to go. It’s a lot of walking on a military base but I am determined. I still want to make more memories! It is so important. You are right. It doesn’t have to cost anything. Pack a picnic and grab an old blanket and go out in the yard with your kids. All they want is to be with you. Safe travels home. We will see you then. Thanks Leslie, Bryant and family. ♥️🙏🙏
I almost feel as if I was there with you! Bryant!!!! I LOVE EGGS BENEDICT TOO!! I make poached eggs almost every day but not the extras which makes a super celebration. This video was a wonderful summary and beautiful sharing of your life together. I grew up in a concrete jungle (housing project in Newark NJ) and I can tell you no vacations either yet all of my greatest memories were simple (and still vibrant in my 65 year old mind!) Amen! My husband of 57 years passed way 22 .months ago. Our family makes family time àny chance we can. Sometimes as many as 35 of us . Fishing hunting Church, birthdays, or just because! We have a great time as I ask for God to bless them all.

You are so, so right. Family and the memories we create are 2nd only to salvation. When our daughter was young and there wasn't a lot of money for big summer vacations, we did the fair circuit. It was family time and we had so much fun. A few rides, some greasy food, a couple games and a candy apple on the way home. We would map them out for the whole summer and have something to look forward to. And now that our daughter is married herself, her favorite people to vacation with is still her Mom and Dad. And she still wants to go to the fairs with us. Your grandsons will always cherish these memories!

I Enjoyed the adventure on your vacation with y’all felt like I was there with u ! Brings joy to my heart to see families spending time together and having quality time . We have stayed at Lakewood also we have a rv and that is a very nice place snd like u said everything u want is right there . When y’all were driving thru showing us the place you mention the fish place to eat we ate at the little fish place right there near the water when we were there and it was soooo good don’t know if y’all got to try it or not it wasn’t open but certain days when we were there . I love staycations with my grown children and grand ~ lovies. We are fortunate to have so much around us to do, we live close to Atlanta and the beautiful mountains and waterfalls in Georgia. I camped at Lakewood when I was a child 50+ years ago. The Trading Post (smaller version) was there and a Pavilion where the teens hung out and they had an outdoor pool. Nothing else was there except campsites, bath houses and RV storage. It really has changed and grown. So glad you had an enjoyable vacation.

Amen PB, as a 64 yo parent/ grandparent my job as a nurse helped us to have the funds to make memories with our children by taking real vacations. I grew up never taking a real vacation and I didn’t want our children to miss out on seeing the vast differences this country has to offer. We now reminisce about all those wonder experiences. ❤️🥰🙌🏼
OMG!!! When i was 12 we started going to Lakewood until i was 18. I loved this place. Im 59 now. Thank you for letting us have a tour. I used to love to camp out. We had a pop up camper for 8 people...lol you had to get up and go to the bathhouses. Ive evolved into a necessity girl. I would love to camp in a tiny home with a bathroom...lol

i so agree with you sometimes the simple vacations are the best ones . we have been lucky to travel from May to August came home mid August and now leaving for Florida for celebrating our 28 th wedding anniversary for 2 weeks. spending time together is my favorite time .i whole heartly agree grandkids are the best we have 3 of them and truly they are my world .

When are babies are little, it seems like the days are SO long....but the years go by so fast. My girls are 23 and 19. One just left for bible college and the other moved out in June. The oldest came for visit this afternoon and brought me sunflowers (my favorite)! I cherish the moments with them now. I never knew how much it would hurt when they grew up and didn't need me as much. Loved watching ya'lls vacation. God bless!
It is a nice place where you stayed but it is small for your growing family. You’re very right about losing family bc of the natural passing of time. I’m 60 and I’ve lost my mom and dad, unexpectedly, my husband of 39 years, all of my aunts and uncles on my dads side, one of my sisters unexpectedly. It’s just so sad and different. I’m trying to learn to be a different me. A me without my other half. I do have our three sons and their families which includes my five and one on the way grandchildren! Thank you God! I have really enjoyed the vacation video. We did not do family vacations much growing up. I remember a trip to Six Flags in Dallas in the 60s with my Mom, Aunt, cousins and siblings. The kids took turns laying in the back window of the car with the sun beaming on us. (No seatbelt requirements) And traveling from NW Louisiana to California to get my sister. She road with another uncle there to see my Grandmother before he had to leave for Vietnam. It was 3 adults and 4 kids in a single cab truck with a camper shell on the back. All kids were in the back with my uncle (still no seatbelt laws). We had a blast stopping along the way for picnics in the roadside parks, car races in El Paso and riding a burrow in Arizona. We swam in an irrigation canal in California. No cell phones back then so we grew up learning to entertain ourselves singing songs and playing games like I Spy etc. Trips were few and far between but we had a blast. Yes spend time with your children, we lost our 16 year old son in 2008 but he’s in Heaven and I wouldn’t want him to come back from there, I’m ready to meet Jesus myself! We made many family memories in his short 16 years and miss him so much.

Amen PB, as a 64 yo parent/ grandparent my job as a nurse helped us to have the funds to make memories with our children by taking real vacations. I grew up never taking a real vacation and I didn’t want our children to miss out on seeing the vast differences this country has to offer. We now reminisce about all those wonder experiences. ❤️🥰🙌🏼
OMG!!! When i was 12 we started going to Lakewood until i was 18. I loved this place. Im 59 now. Thank you for letting us have a tour. I used to love to camp out. We had a pop up camper for 8 people...lol you had to get up and go to the bathhouses. Ive evolved into a necessity girl. I would love to camp in a tiny home with a bathroom...lol

So sweet and heartwarming as always! Kids do turn in the young adults so fast. My baby lives a 1000 miles from home. I talk to her, face time and text several times a day but I still miss her. But I’m so blessed. She has a strong faith in God and uses it to help others. So glad you had a great vacation! Your family is lovely. Your grand babies are so sweet! So many blessings! Thanks for the trip! You are so right, we did Myrtle Beach a lot with our children. I have shared God called my 47 yr old son home 13 months ago. Nothing is ever the same once you lose a child. Enjoy as much time as you can with your adult children too. We never know when God will need them back. Love y’all!!

i so agree with you sometimes the simple vacations are the best ones . we have been lucky to travel from May to August came home mid August and now leaving for Florida for celebrating our 28 th wedding anniversary for 2 weeks. spending time together is my favorite time .i whole heartly agree grandkids are the best we have 3 of them and truly they are my world .

When my kids were small we couldn't afford to go on big trips but we took our kids camping or just fishing for a day & I wouldn't trade that for anything! So happy about your wonderful week! We were very poor farmers and had no vacations but 2 brothers and I remember mother taking us and going "fishing" in a shady shallow creek with no fish! We had a little snack and had such fun! Life is always what you make it!

When are babies are little, it seems like the days are SO long....but the years go by so fast. My girls are 23 and 19. One just left for bible college and the other moved out in June. The oldest came for visit this afternoon and brought me sunflowers (my favorite)! I cherish the moments with them now. I never knew how much it would hurt when they grew up and didn't need me as much. Loved watching ya'lls vacation. God bless!

It is a nice place where you stayed but it is small for your growing family. You’re very right about losing family bc of the natural passing of time. I’m 60 and I’ve lost my mom and dad, unexpectedly, my husband of 39 years, all of my aunts and uncles on my dads side, one of my sisters unexpectedly. It’s just so sad and different. I’m trying to learn to be a different me. A me without my other half. I do have our three sons and their families which includes my five and one on the way grandchildren! Thank you God! Thank you thank you for all of my family that are still here! They are truly my reason for living! I really enjoy your channel. You’re my family too! God bless

I have really enjoyed the vacation video. We did not do family vacations much growing up. I remember a trip to Six Flags in Dallas in the 60s with my Mom, Aunt, cousins and siblings. The kids took turns laying in the back window of the car with the sun beaming on us. (No seatbelt requirements) And traveling from NW Louisiana to California to get my sister. She road with another uncle there to see my Grandmother before he had to leave for Vietnam. It was 3 adults and 4 kids in a single cab truck with a camper shell on the back. All kids were in the back with my uncle (still no seatbelt laws). We had a blast stopping along the way for picnics in the roadside parks, car races in El Paso and riding a burrow in Arizona. We swam in an irrigation canal in California. No cell phones back then so we grew up learning to entertain ourselves singing songs and playing games like I Spy etc. Trips were few and far between but we had a blast. Yes spend time with your children, we lost our 16 year old son in 2008 but he’s in Heaven and I wouldn’t want him to come back from there, I’m ready to meet Jesus myself! We made many family memories in his short 16 years and miss him so much.

My heart is so blessed by y’all! You are so right about how time passes quickly! I love when our whole family or most can get together either in the Smokies or at the beach! Now there are 29-30 of us who live in four different states…so it’s almost impossible to get all of us together! I’m so glad you have these memories! Btw…I’ve been to the original Paula Deen restaurant in Savannah and the one in Pigeon Forge. The food was so good! Thank you again for sharing your wonderful vacation with us! I'm so happy you had such a wonderful vacation!. It was fun to watch your adventures this past week. I knew every place that you visited. The only place we hadn't been to is Simply Southern Smokehouse. It's now on our list to check out. Like you, we were sad when our vacation had to end. We loved Myrtle Beach so much that we moved here in June after I retired from teaching. Now we are wondering where to go for vacation!
