It's not an LT film study without the half-beat demonstration with the fingersnaps and karate chop. Glad to see that hasn't changed
Alex jab is like a concrete power..
Rob be like " did you hear the sound of that jab, fellas ? Who taught him that ? "
Insane breakdown. Reminds me of stipe vs DC 2 with the body work in some ways.
Alex was so calm not being intimidated at all...
Even when Alex was dropped he just got up and kept complete composure. Never got nervous at all
@@Ziggyvunot a knockdown. Check the score cards, was not counted as a knock down
Watching analysis of Poatan is always a treat
One thing that is little noticed is that Alex takes a lot of the weight off the blows he receives with head movements. Those who follow him have seen him talk about this, that kick he received from Khalil, quickly realizes and throws his head to the same side. This is the work of genius.
Luke with the fast uploads this weekend. True 🐐
Luke's got gay love for Alex.. He's super excited to pop these videos out.. He's examining Alex's moves with a keen (gay) eye.. 😂😅
Luke's breakdowns are a gem for the development of MMA fans
Legit my favorite analyst, always look forward to more of these
The slo motion breakdown was FAR more devastating than watching the real fight 😂😂😂
Dang son, killa breakdown
Luke is hard to beat on the breakdowns.
During his analysis for the Khalil vs Alex fight Adesanya said "After the 3rd kick you realize you cant push him off anymore and you start drowning"
Alex has a fight IQ that is higher than we think. He was smart enough to let Roundtree blitz for a couple of rounds and let him waste his energy. Then Alex beat the snot out of Roundtree. Great respect to Roundtree
Spot on, I speak portuguese and when alex was in the stool, glover told circle more, then he said needs to make him tire
@jetts18111 alex has 0 Ego to be taking striking advice from a long life grappler, and he took his advice when glover told him he's always coming from your left
@@art_of_comedy3241 im just translating what alex said which was but i need to make him tire
Love waking up to LT breakdowns been hoping this was coming
Luke you mentioned before that you are lost, nah man. This is what you are supposed to be doing, add more episodes with Brian and keep going, make sure you find a way to monetize and enjoy life Donk style!
Yknow, I'm seeing some parallels between Rountree's use of the blitz with Du Plessis' use of the same tactic. The difference being that DDP seems to be able to keep it up further into the fight.
Man i did watch fight but didnt notice that "peeling off guard moment". Chama breakdown!🔥
Great video, helps normals like me understand and appreciate these athletes and sport on a higher level.
Those pull counters were beautiful
I love this breakdowns really show the intelligence of the fighter during a chaotic moment
That final left hook to the body was Fing brutal!!
Magomed will be big headed all week knowing he will try to cuddle 5 rounds vs poatan! If Magomed was chopped down by Jan so imagine his legs vs Alex! I think he knocks Magomed out to finally shut his mouth.
Stop the nonsense. The guy has 10 KOs and a submission in his 18 wins. A 61% finish rate in his wins is not a cuddler.
Stop acting like Ank is a boring fighter that just lays and prays. I’m picking Alex in that fight too but if you don’t watch the guy’s fights how can you be so loud and confident in what you’re saying about his fight style?
@@adub92199 the fight vs Jan exposed a lot vs him like the low kicks chopping him down! You can see that easy when Magomed shot for the take down to cuddle Jan
That's the only fight where he wrestled ,and it's funny when you call it cuddling but when jan does it to alex and izzy its called being a superior grappler ,
After Roundtree dropped from the uppercut...Alex throws a quick hook...both hands come together like if he didn't go down, one hand would've guided the impact of the quick hook. It's a good thing he went down...Alex was in kill mode😬
Luke be cooking with these breakdowns. Poatan is well taught, his striking arsenal is something to behold.
I was waiting for Thomas to post. His videos on Alex are my favorite!

Great work LT
Great Breakdown. Hug from Brasil
Incredible fight, incredible breakdown. Thank you
Great content. Thank You. Really respect your work💪🙏
Such a Amazing breakdown!
Good stuff, thanks 👍
Great breakdown.
Great job
Great analysis as always. What I saw was that Alex was looking for an early KO, hence all the head kicks etc, but when he finally let go of that, he adjusted and began the war of attrition you described so nicely 😊
Also, did you see Izzy on JRE ask who you were? he remembered you, but it would be a funny clip for you to use 😃
He was throwing until 4 and then he went into full blown assault mode, he's scary when pressuring and jumping into range while throwing hard shots is crazy
Luke content > ariel content
Ariel just tries to have fighters start beef while Luke just gives you the goods
100% i stopped watching ariel when he started glazing logan paul in the paul vs danis build up. Have not watched a single piece of ariel's content and stick to pretty much only LT, I don't feel like I'm missing anything.
Most elite striking we have ever seen in mma
Chute Boxe is the most elite ever! Anderson Silva ,Wand,Ninja,Shogun, probably the best!
@@robertestrada5987silva and Ninja and shogun that was just banging ,nothing screams elite striking ,they knock each out in the gym everyday, alex has an actual strategy and method to every move he does ,and anderson was an elite striker but he never faced anyone like izzy or khalil ,he was ahead of the game and most guys were life long wrestlers who learned to strike for mma later on
@@art_of_comedy3241 You obviously don’t understand what is happening right now with Alex! All these dudes are getting paid to stand up with him! Nobody exploits his weakness! If he fights John Jones or even any body with ground game he’s done!
Most elite with power. Izzy is every bit as elite, maybe more, just not as devastating.
That last punch by Alex gets some blood splatter onto his chest like a gunshot
Gawd I love these film studies by senior Donk
I'm always in awe when watching Alex fight. Sure he's a giant but his IQ is tremendous. My thoughts are if he could figure out when to frame off defensively, when to shell defensively, use front body kicks way more often, Alex would be damn near invincible.
Great break down Like! These details make the diference. 💯
I’m loving your breakdowns! So fun to watch the beautiful dance of a fight.
The reality is Poatan parrys/rolls it off or makes a subtle head movement enough to divert the strikes at the same time ready to counter strike without having to reset. But while seeing the fight as spectators, we usually see Poatan taking damage but nothing happens to him..The distance management is so meticulous that he slips in a inch gap much like what Connor did against Eddie. Poatans technique also reminds me defensive techniques of jeet kune do..
Let's face it , Poatan was never in trouble during that fight
hugs from brazil, amazing break down
Must be disheartening to put up such a good fight & still walk away with a loss & looking like you got hit in the face by a Train.
Disheartening sure, but when Khalil goes back to do his tape study, there are a lot of avenues he could've had success had he just prepared a little better for certain scenarios. I think Khalil honestly beats most people in the LHW division. He had a great game plan vs Alex, use all that motion and rhythm against him. It's hard getting in shape to sprint for 25 minutes. I know personally when I get my ass beat by a good pro and they give me one or two pointers, or I watch the session over again, I find it encouraging that there are things I can improve on to have more success. Like Khalil said, now he knows he can absolutely hang with the best in the world and BELONGS in the top 5. Khalil will only grow after this loss. If Alex can stick around another year or two, they will probably rematch and Khalil will be much better prepared. Not saying he'll win, but there are 100% things he could do in the rematch to catch Alex.
very good breakdown. I learn a lot from the analysis.
Nice. Great breakdown.
I really do think Magomed gets broken down by Alex. Striking wise Alex would demolish his legs and definitely catch him with powerful shots. Even the wrestling seems like something Alex can defend and possibly counter with knees.
Alex can get 2-3 more defenses in this division if he really wants it.
Alex is gonna take the holidays off, I would expect him back in february or march. He's said that he's 37 and he knows time isn't on his side, he wants to fight as much as possible over the next 2-3 years. Real champ shit.
*Excellent video. New subscriber.* 👍🏻
LUKE THE GOAT
The intro to this video I couldn't stop hearing: "He can't keep getting away with this!!" Lol idk why
Anybody else think that technique Khalil was talking about was catching the leg and then doing the sweep kick?? He was too short so the kick missed
What people don't take into account with Alex is how little he fouls his opponents over his ufc run. Take Jones for an example, or Leon, they always find a way to cheat. Alex hasn't done this. Conor also did this in his peak. Without a doubt, Alex is the best. I wish this was taken into account when they throw out who's the goat.
Really hope Dana is watching this epic breakdown ,excellent work Luke
Ole Luke “on the half beat” Thomas
Hey Luke,
We talk about "the battle for outside foot position" when a southpaw is facing an orthodox fighter.
I noticed that Alex rarely had that outside foot position, but more interestingly, it seemed like even when he had the opportunity, he'd choose to step into inside position.
Any idea why that might be the case?
When lining up the rear straight in opposite stances, the most preferable is the outside foot position so the rear can fire directly down the pipe. Makes it a lot harder to slip. But when you're as experienced, long and smart as Alex, you can take the 45 rear position to still land the rear cross, like he did many times. Basically standing square allows for easy defensive movement to avoid the rear straight/cross - stepping either to the inside or outside not only changes the angle of attack, but also forces your opponent to either square to you for defense, or they completely miss the cover because they're shelled up. Khalil shelled up most of the time, so Alex was comfortable taking that 45 to counter with a rear cross.
It seems like Khalil was banking on that blitz and it's speed to be effective. It didn't work quite as well as I think he'd hoped. Honestly though I'd like to see this fight again. It looks like KR could make minor adjustments and possibly win.
Se lutarem denovo poatan vai derruba logo mais rápido pós poatan já vai saber os movimentos e velocidade do khalil vai ser igual poatan vs jiri 2
I think Alex would make the right adjustments in the second fight. I think Khalil was only ever gonna win the fight by catching Alex. I think he should’ve went to Utah a few weeks ago to be fully acclimated cause once he started to slow down Alex took over
it was 100% effective, he landed more shots on Alex than most people have done in his entire career. That's part of experience and fight IQ, the ability to adapt mid-fight and devise new game plans on the fly. Khalil can absolutely make more adjustments and win the rematch. He needs to sprint alex to the cage with 3-4 punch combinations and then keep that work rate up. But now that Alex knows the speed and timing, he's going to make adjustments and pump that jab and leg kick from the opening bell.
22:09 Gotta love it?! NO! Gotta love YOU, Luke! You filthy animal.
Great Review. Ref should have stopped it earlier though. Rountree wasn't going to give up although he had nothing left. His hands weren't really going mid through 4th and the ref still let Pereira killing this guy to the end. Pereira gave enough time for the ref to stop it.
I don't think Rountree will ever be the same.
That head kick was so close holy shit
Alex said at the post-fight presser that he was sick and on antibiotics, that's why he was coughing and blowing his nose in between rounds. I wonder what effect that had on his cardio and reaction speed and power. Props to Khalil though. I think if Alex was sick he should've just cancelled the fight. Don't damage your health for these soulless corporations.
Almost at 200k subscribers and that story 😁
Amazing
Khalil’s fight IQ is so good
round 1 surely khalil got some of his hits ahead of alex then round 2 and 3 when alex starts his first kick to khalils leg. Dude just backing up all those 2 rounds like sean did to costa but not that worse. Round 4 really felt prfkcing bad for rountree it felt like dude was getting slowly hunted
Maybe you forgotten about consider the hypothesis that Poatan took the risk to burn Khalil's fuel at the 2 first hounds
Great breakdown. The 1/2 hour went by so fast.
Ankalaev = Takedown away from UFC Gold 👑
I was just rewatching the fight, namely round 3. Did the switch knee Poatan did when the clock read 0:46 land?
The knee right at the end of that round landed flush. The broadcast did not show either during the break.
Alex Pereira seems to be one of the few MMA fighters weve seen that is a master in the time of his fighting.
Similar to GSP, Khabib/Islam, Israel, Lyoto, Jones. These are guys not just competent but highest level possible in youth.
Like Thomas What's your background?
🍀👍🍀😊nice breakdown “👊chama
Great breakdown. Best in the business
When is a boxer going to flip the script and play by MMA rules. And since u guys only fight retired UFC fighters. There's a million that would be willing. And I'm sure they'll spot you a few weight classes.😊
Alex is so far and away the most interesting fighter in the UFC right now. All the mastery of Adesanya--and more, frankly--but not content to just stay at range and point fight to a decision. The guy has that killer instinct and will put himself at (slightly more) risk to get the finish. I'm always on the edge of my seat with every one of his fights. Guy's electrifying. Reminiscent of McGregor during the peak of his rise. (You know, when he was a fighter.)
What software are you using to telecast/draw over video?! Looks incredible! Great content.
Khalil was too focused on the head, he missed so many open body shots, lots of missed opportunities, especially the right hook to the body, it was open all fight, instead of missing head shots he could’ve been landing body punches and kicks and some leg kicks at the end of his combos
Luke: see how alex toe curl, watch how his rear big toe press down first because he going to step to his right, subtle, just 1 mm, then that allows him to throw the right.
izzy owns this guy
Alex literally is stone face lol. He’s so focused and never changes his expression in a fight. He doesn’t give away anything. It makes him
Seem so calm. He kick are different because his foot and shins are so calloused and hardened from old school training. Izzy said his foot is like a rock basically an extension of his shin because he’s hardened it over the years. Being able to kick with your foot that hard makes calf kicks way easier and more painful because it goes around the leg
poatan doesn't do well against southpaws, it takes him about 2 rounds for him to start finding openings. if khalil was orthodox, he would've gotten picked apart alot sooner, but kudos to khalil he did very well, just didn't have the stamina, and wasn't durable enough to keep going
Why the sudden gushing over Khalil as opposed to previous opponents? Is there a spirit behind it?
What the hell program is he using to slow down and pause the fight like that
Imagine being gifted a title shot you didn't deserve and not wrestling against a kickboxing world champ
What device u use bro?
I was a little concerned when he got dropped. But he was off balance with his feet close together so i dont think he was too hurt.
His legs gave out after he got hit without seeing it coming, he got dropped. But like Izzy said, his recovery is insane. It’s almost like if you rock rock him unless you find an immediate follow up you’re better off taking him down
He didn’t get dropped lmfao. He missed a kick and was off balance. His knees didn’t even touch the mat.
So many commercial break on lukes channel
Great stuff, but the audio ain't great
If there's really something to the witchcraft that Alex is tapping into....how about not returning the deep eye staring ?
Don't give him that
There were so many opportunities for a takedown for rountree . Could have won an extra round😊
Here’s my analysis of the fight. After a valiant effort by Roundtree, Alex beats him like a slab of meat from Rocky!
nice
greattttt
I am a serious man , I thi😢😮 Alex perriera did a good job by taking his time time to dispose a great striker like Rountree. , Rountree is a very fighter no doubt ,but Mr Alex is from a different planet right now. So Mr Thomas your analysis is going in the wrong direction
I have been watching UFC since 2012. The UFC, without growth, its boring. The UFC dies with McGregor, Khabib and Poatan. Doesn't matter how good it gets, its over. Poatan is an ember burning in once was a great empire
Khalils should have had add wrestling to his offense, Alex is good but he haven't took on a great wrestle!!!! To me he just a big version of Sean O'Malley, CAN HE WRESTLE!!¡!🤔🤔🤔!!! THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW, BUT ONCE HE LOSE ONE FIGHT HE GOING TO RETIRE TAKE ALL THAT MONEY AND RUN BACK TO BRAZIL TO RETIRE!!!! VERY SMART MAN!!!!
Alex was ALLOWING him to do those blitz patterns and making him just miss, thats how good he is. Lot of people seem to think it was Khalil "winning" those exchanges but for the most part he wasnt landing and Alex ws just getting his reads....and it showed.
Great breakdown.
I do think 99% of Khalils early success was the vast speed difference. Once he lost a few gears of speed, the skill differential was too much for him.
Alex não quis se arriscar também, ele esperou pacientemente, se fosse pra trocar e disputar velocidade com o Kallil as chances de nocaute para ambos seriam iguais. Então Alex esperou para ficar em clara vantagem
Yes!
Alex outstruck him every single round according to fight metric , Khalil seemed to be doing a lot because of the visuals of him being fast bursting punches but most didn't land , Round 3 was the round that Khalil landed the most
Average breakdown, seen better work from Luke
Also reach played a huge role
