As someone who has been in the Star Wars Universe since the beginning and was one of those who kept it alive so there was something for Disney to buy. Many put a lot of effort into keeping the saga and story alive. There were accomplished writers and lets also acknowledge the tons and tons of fan fiction. Some was poor but a lot of it was well done and attracted more and more people to the universe. 30 years of work by people who were not trying to make it rich, but so loved the saga that they put forth great amounts of energy into keeping the story alive and enjoyed. Many of us were hoping that it would breath new life into the franchise and expand its reach and fan base. But some of us were wary of such a thing happening, but mostly decided to watch and give it a chance. Well sadly our being wary was warranted. The first thing to come out after the deal was struck, was that anything not directly produced by Lucas films was to be scrapped and had no place in the new Star wars universe. Thanks for keeping it alive, but go bugger off. And then the purge of all the fan fiction and stuff on the internet. A vendetta was waged behind the scenes to destroy any and all things not copyrighted by Lucas Films. No Johnny you cannot have your website that is built off the novels and/or fan fiction, as we are not interested. You will take what gruel we produce and like it. I remember going to see the first sequel film with a friend. We sat in comfy chairs and silently watched it and were still quiet as we left the theater. When we got into my truck and were preparing to leave we both looked at each other and said together, "Did we just watch a remake of the very first film?" We were shocked after all the media hype and such that we had literally watched a rip off of the very first film. Now Rogue One did feel right and more like a good bridge from the prequels and the original trilogy. It still seemed a bit off, but had merit. Thought maybe the first fil was just an oops like the first Star trek film. But then the next two movies were dumpster fires intent on wiping the slate clean of all the original characters. And then off into lala land and down the diversity rabbit hole. When I think about what has happened since Disney took over I am heart sad. I understand George was feeling the streain of age and all, but even he now sees it was a mistake.

Just your average feminist cognitive dissonance...they excel at those...Like when women are strong & empowered, simultaneously with being oppressed victims of everything..
Honestly, Lucas panicked over how poorly the prequel trilogy did, but he KNEW it would do poorly which is why he started with New Hope. He should have just kept at it, and let the guys he trusted do most of the work and expand from there. It probably would have been fine.

Correct! We've been told more than once that "The Force is Female". Have it then and create a female fan base instead of blaming men for your failures.
If I own a pizza and pasta restaurant and 70% of my sales are pizza, I sell more pizzas. Now I wake up and decide to sell all pasta and I lose 70% of my sales what do I do. Cry, blame the pizza lovers for being pastaphobic, pasta racists, toxic pizza boys. No I sell pizzas and keep my customers. Starwars is dead and they killed it. And blaming fans from walking away from a rubbish Disney franchise because they changed it is old and tired. Nobody cares and the blame game doesn't work anymore.
That’s what someone who’s actually into running a successful business would do. For her, this is a revenge fantasy played out in real life. I feel like she’s been nursing this rage for decades and the fans are collateral damage. She’s only angry at them because they’re not playing along with her fantasy. This is a _deeply_ disturbed woman who really needs to deal with her trauma in a healthy way. But she seems too far gone to accept help. It would invalidate her rage.
@@rfichokeofdestiny So true. For the record, you're not the only one who has been pointing this out for years, with evidence to boot. For years we've been called "haters," "beeegots," and more. But lies can never last. The truth is what you said, that Kathleen Kennedy is a deeply disturbed, bitter woman who was ingrateful for the wealth and success that was handed to her. She's a prime example of someone never understanding what they really wanted, so they will never be happy, no matter how many toys the horde, how much food they gobble, how much "revenge" they inflict. What a pathetic life.
She's so delusional! She's not writing for female audiences either. She's writing stories that she, L. Hedlund and other women at Lucasfilm will like!!!
She is utterly clueless. Makes you wonder why she is tolerated at Disney anymore. I mean, someone there has to be sane. Even if it is a Board of Directors or something. At some point an adult in the room needs to say "Enough is enough" of this garbage and demand that they stop it and that people are fired.
Frankly, it’s truly amazing to me that the board of directors hasn’t insisted on her resignation. She’s costing the company hundreds of millions of dollars, if not more!
Jack Nicholson line from "As Good As It Gets": "When I write a woman I think of a man and take away all reason and accountability." It's never their fault, it's always men's.
They are not speaking for many of the women who love Star Wars either! Disney is so lost in their own head and agenda that they aren't seeing what real women think and feel. They actually believe that we agree with their disturbed insanity!!!
I will continue to ask until I get a clear answer: Where are the shareholders? Why aren't they complaining ( or screaming their lungs out) about lack of profits?
It's because our society praises narcissistic women and allows them to run riot. They also rewarded for their garbage and ruin the next generation of women with ideas that will never work. Or as another person in the comments said "I think of a man...then, I take away reason and accountability."
Female of color here. I loved the original trio of Han, Luke and Leia. I didn’t care what race they were because SW was written so well that it was another world and whatever was shown on screen would be part of that world, not mine. I was so looking forward to the return of Boba Fett but they completely messed him up. I didn’t even bother to watch Obi Wan because I knew they would also mess him up. I don’t have to see myself on screen; I just need to care for the characters. Our evolved future was supposed to be like Star Trek where people didn’t focus on racial or gender differences. I’m not interested in watching the Acolyte, even though I do like Carrie Ann Moss. I saw what they did to Laura Dern. I’ve been a fan of SW for a long time and it doesn’t matter at all that it’s a male oriented franchise. The only new character I really cared about was Cara Dune and they messed that up. I always loved SW the way it was and all they’ve done to reach more females of color like me is mess it up.
Remember laughing is a good cure medicine to insanity, what do you do when someone piss you off? You laugh at them always no more violet needed. They get what they always wanted.
Which is strange, because her father seems to have been a good dude. According to his obit from 2017, WW2 Navy Veteran and Longtime Shasta County Superior Court Judge, "known for his wit, sense of humor and fairness." Guess she just never outgrew her teenage rebellion phase, or she got used to everything being handed to her.
So let me get this straight. Disney takes Star Wars and ruins it by going totally woke, and that's my fault because I'm an old, straight, male Star Wars fan?
The funny thing is, the original films actually taught a lot of "woke" ideology, Lucas just wasn't hitting the viewer over the head with a sledge hammer to impart it. Look at how the strong female character in A New Hope uses Luke and Han, while changing them both for the better.
Yes, that's exactly it. You're not welcome to have an opinion about it, we don't give a damn if you like it or not, or even watch it... but it's your fault we're failing.
I am so sick of Modern Hollywood's definition of Diverse and it being shoved down our throat. 1.5 years later the marketing for Black Panther 2 still pisses me off. Multiple people of high rank advertising the movie said "We have the most DIVERSE movie ever, 95% of our cast both behind and in front of the camera are African." So by definition not Diverse, what they should have said was it is great to have more African dissent people in major Movies. It does not mean the same thing
Somehow I keep thinking about Al Bundy's quote: "Women understand women. That's why they hate each other." Women understand Kennedy and her female Star Wars characters. That's why they like the men stay far away from Disney Star Wars.
Has nothing to do with feminism. In fact most top feminist are anti woke with just very few of them, mostly lesbains, who are all in on woke. These folks want to color all content LGBTQ being very anti real men and anti real woman.
I failed to see the point of ahh Kathleen Kenedy , So she comes into this job of movies ... fan base are Male and says that its Male dominated? But your sister hood dont come and watch??? Its like the WNBA situation with Bill Burr. What is her point?
Remember that Bill Cosby's other victims didn't break their silence when one of their own found the courage to accuse Cosby of rape. The only came forward after a MAN made a joke about said victim's accusations. And it was their silence that allowed Cosby to settle out of court and receive immunity from being prosecuted for rape. You can't call yourself a feminist if you need a man's approval to even start fighting for justice.
If the Star Wars fan base is male dominated, it would be a smart business strategy to treat these male fans with respect. Of course, they don't want to serve their audience, but they want us to serve them with our time and money.
So here’s the thing, Disney so arrogantly yelled, not said, YELLED that they “love making men uncomfortable”. We hear you loud and clear, did they expect us to be shitted on and stick around? Funny how I was pre warned by their intentions but demand that we stick around. I cancelled my subscription the same day they warned me. Thank you Disney for warning me to not lose more money
I'm Asian and have been a Star Wars fan all my life. The fact that the OT had few Asians in it didn't bother me at all because a good story is a good story.
As a fellow Asian, movies predominantly with white characters don't bother me any more than movies predominantly with Asian characters. I'd rather have a full cast of characters of the same race because that's what the writers understand the best, than have a "diverse" cast where only some of them are well written and the rest exist to be token characters who have zero personality or history because the writers have zero knowledge of their culture.
@@nickfifteen It’s also weird to have a universe populated with the same races we have on Earth. How does it Jedi end up with a Korean accent? So yeah, pick a ‘color’ and run with it. Simple.
I wanted to cancel Disney for a long time but I explained to my 10-year-old daughter that it had to be done due to the acolyte... She completely understood
They color content LGBTQ. You see lots now with movie and stuff that they got gay people involved. And they want to move away from real hetero man and woman replacing it with fluid characters and stuff. Shows are for woke woman who will not watch because they do not care for action stuff. mainly men do.
There are journalists also claiming that the show is being review-bombed by the fans, but if the show was good it wouldn’t be getting bombed. They’re saying the fans are toxic, but look at the Mandalorian, that show has got almost a five star rating.
In any sane company, KK would have been fired a thousand times over by now for her abysmal performance. She's destroyed Willow, she's destroyed Indiana Jones, and she's destroyed Star Wars, the latter being completely unforgivable. She is truly appalling at her job, with levels of incompetence so high, I'm surprised she's not working in Government. Never in the entire course of human history has anyone been more in need or firing, yet Disney won't get rid of her, and hence they deserve every single failure they get, the upcoming 'The Bagoshyte' being the latest and wokest.
Indiana Jones and The Nap Of Destiny was very well made but it was boring. Ford being to old and Phoebe Waller-Bridge being a very odd choice for a action movie. Even when they do things right the lefty propaganda in it will ruin the movie. Woke is a no win situation. It will butcher prettymuch all movie art so no thank please go away.
Disney: "It's not made for you! The force is female!" also Disney: " The IP is failing due to the majority male fan base!" Well which is it Disney? Is the IP base Majority male and thus should cater towards men, or isn't it and it's made for women?
Funny how once Disney took over all of a sudden you had female fans. All of a sudden it was cool for women to like Star Wars. But like everything that's artificial, it wasn't built to last.
As a black male born in 1972, I never had an issue with Star Wars. I had the millennium falcon toy as a kid and Han and Chewie were my favorites. I had the pleasure of going to universal studios and “piloting” the Falcon in a simulator ride!!!! My issue is, why does sexual identification/orientation have to come into play? Why do they have to specify color and gender? Why not do like top gun maverick and just make a movie?
Blame women. You warned men that it wasn't for them. That the force was female and it didn't need them any longer. So, if that was true? Why didn't the women go? Why didn't women support it? Why didn't women spend money to see it and make it a success? Men are blameless in this. All we did was take Kathleen seriously and didn't go. That's not sexism. Unless the definition of "strong independent woman" or "girlboss" only holds meaning if enough men support it for them? Because that ain't ever happening....
Funny enough women did support SW. I saw it personally. When SW switched hands and went over to Disney, all of a sudden women started becoming fans of SW when previously they couldn't care less about it. But it didnt endure. It wasn't built for women and it was stolen from men. No man in his right mind is gonna identify with a female protag in an adventure story.
It's gynocentrism. Women invading male dominant spaces to make them safe for women. From the boy scouts to Warhammer 40k it's ubiquitous in it's malice for masculinity

I was a huge Star Wars fan. For years I've been sending messages out to my friends and family on every Star Wars day: "May the 4th be with you." I celebrated Star Wars day because I loved Star Wars. There are no more messages on May the 4th. There is no more star wars day. star wars is dead.
She's just upset that she keeps getting ruthlessly mocked online after _Joining the Panderverse_ blew the roof off her anonymity among the general audience. Disney *_Star Wars_* is the equivalent of discount sushi, which as Ami Onuki from *_Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi_* said, "It can be hazardous to your health." Go dream about electric sheep, KK.
@Zhtrik I recently got into it due to one of the voice actresses (namely, Janice Kawaye) also voicing Jenny from *_My Life as a Teenage Robot_* on Nickelodeon. She voiced Ami in the show while Yumi was voiced by Grey DeLisle. Also, the show (HHPAY) aired on Cartoon Network.
All these big Hollywood executives are morons. You have in these stories a free pass to print money. Just make the stories how they're depicted in the novels. Stop changing things to "Make them more diverse". The first Avengers did so well because it was comic accurate. All you have to do is not disrespect your fan base.
they keep on with the DEI stuff and it ain't working but they keep on. Einstein once said do the same thing over and over while expecting a different result is the definition of insanity and that is what we have here.
It’s funny… I feel like more and more companies are blaming consumers for failures. They produce things that anyone can tell you won’t work, yet do it anyway and blame the consumer base.
That fact that Star Wars has become unprofitable in movies, unprofitable in TV, unprofitable in toys, and unprofitable in the parks (gonna take a long time to recoup Starcruiser losses), tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about the state of the brand. Star Wars is BILLIONS in the hole, it's a damaged brand, and arguably worth next to nothing, so long as Disney owns it. They took gold, and spun it into straw. ....Straw Wars. Watch it burn.
The nods to the faithful were a few quotes, some jedi, and a cantina full of aliens? That shows no understanding of the essence of the SWU. It's an insult to the fan base. It's like making a poop-cake but thinking the right frosting will make it a winner. Now consider "Rogue One". New characters, diverse cast, female lead, unique original story. Yet it's faithful to the SWU and understands how it can add to the greater story of the SWU. Way to piss off the fans, Kennedy. You gave them the finger, now you blame them for hating your product.
I would never have had a problem with Ray taking over if they passed it down the torch properly. And didn't make her a Mary Sue, and actually given her a proper story. She knows it's still male driven and that's what is the itch that she can't scratch, that is what she's trying to kill. KK would be nowhere near a movie studio let alone Any movie, if it hadn't been for her husband. Go figure
Respect for the ladies, for sure. When you shit on Luke and Han Solo there will be a backlash from lifelong Star Wars fans. Kathleen Kennedy is a fool not to see that.
KK twisted the Star Wars universe to cater to women...so the men went away...the women don't watch because they don't give sh!t. Where's the accountability?
What I found interesting was she admitted it was a male dominated franchise but she pushes The Force is Female and makes the shows for Girls. What did she expect? Blame the Girls they didnt come…
Imagine being part of a crowd who tell certain demographics they aren't making a show for them, and then blaming those demographics for not watching it.
They should be blaming women. They've been "tailoring" this to them and telling men it "isn't for them". They got exactly what they planned for...failure.
Kathelene Kennedy is not that dumb. She killed Lucasfilm (Star Wars, Willow and Indiana Jones) systematically. Nothing was done by chance but all was done by design!
How does someone in an executive role have ZERO knowledge about PR and marketing, disparage their fans repeatedly…then play the victim when this creates an obvious result?!
I try not to be a cancel person, but considering the disgusting, horrific crimes of Ms Leslye Headland, it's hard to imagine watching anything she was a part of.
❤ I whatch the 6 series by Lucas all the time. Especially Revenge of the Sith. It's incredible, my son was 5 when it was released and we say it a bit later. Star Wars has been a huge part of our lives. On so many levels. I wish Carrie Fisher was here today. But in her place are thousands of mothers like myself who saw her as a heroine of the best kind she told Luke and Lando and even Jaba the hit off throughout the movie. The first movie was incredible for young women like myself. And every one after...honestly it's just if it's good writing and good acting people will love it. Andor stands alone and has great writing strong characters of all types and no one really cares or notices. It just is good. A lot of great actors help that. Bit so do a lot of great writers. Who are well known but well they Will not be seen patting themselves on the back so to speak or preaching. Not their circus...
After watching The Last Jedi, I gave up on Star Wars, and only watch Episodes 1-6 and Rogue One. Disney can just go as woke as they want, I'm not tuning in.
@@MaBer-67391 I'd suggest that at least the first two seasons of Mandalorian are worth checking out. Baby Yoda is a bit of silliness, but still it's a decent pair of seasons. Can't say anything for beyond that because I only watched those two seasons.
Next, KK starts a toy store that sells Barbie Dolls, that are construction workers. And when this doesn't resonate with girls, blame the girls for being toxic.
I feel your pain... I'm a 55 year old white woman (does that matter?) and have been a fan since 1977... what Kennedy doesn't understand is that a good Star Wars story with a little representation in it and an activist show with it a little Star Wars in it (and with poor storytelling) makes a huge difference
"Women struggle a bit because of the male Star Wars fan base"....But I was told women were JUST AS STRONG as men, yet they struggle when someone says something nasty?!
The issue here is that they are so desperate to be diverse that they don't realize that the people they are trying to please aren't fans of Star Wars. They don't like scifi at all and you are 50 years in the saga. You aren't winning any converts.
Even if they COULD double the female audience (they haven't), it's not worth losing half the male audience (they have). They end up losing more paying customers than they gained. Their math just isn't mathing. I don't understand how anyone with any business acumen signed off on these TERRIBLE project ideas.
Perhaps you could take some remote courses from the Harvard/Wharton school of business. Then you'd understand. You know, just like Alissa Heinerscheid... I wouldn't be surprised if they have a graduate-level course: "How to short-sell the company you work for without getting caught."
It’s wild bc it was the most loyal bunch of wallets then they got greedy what if we can get more females to watch space laser sword movies? Barbie killing at the box office must have gutted Kathleen.
The fact that KK felt personally attacked by that South Park episode shows her immaturity Because that episode went out of its way to portray both sides of this issue, hers and the fans
How does she give women a pass like that? I mean, why isn't she calling out women for not being a part of fandom? It's not "dominated" by males. Males aren't trying to exclude women from being a part of the fandom. Women are choosing not to participate. She should be like: "Where's all my ladies at??? Women! Come on, be a part!". Instead she demonizes men for passively "dominating" by default - by just being a fan. Ultimately they're just sour because they couldn't get fandom to switch teams. They knew Star Wars was a boy brand when they paid $4b for it. It's one of the reasons why they bought it. She's fooling nobody.
Yeah, I've been a fan since the beginning and have never been made to feel like I wasn't welcome. The complete opposite, in fact. Every male, of any age, I've encountered over the years has responded with delight to the fact that I'm a fan. The only male fans that have treated me poorly in any way were guys who were desperately trying to defend the ST, and they treated other male fans worse than they treated me. (There were a lot of insults traded between them. I stuck to the facts and ignored personal attacks.)
@@andyandreson3989 I always figured she had polaroids of someone doing something to someone. However, my choice of terminology tells you what generation I'm from.
My wife’s struggle with Star Wars came after she saw the Last Jedi. She bought tickets opening weekend and went with her mom. She told me I was lucky I couldn’t go because she would never be able to unsee and forget it. She hasn’t watched a Star Wars product since.
Marketing 101 for Dummies: "Define a market, learn what they want and desire, and provide a product that satisfies those wants and desires." Disney/Lucas Films is so devoid in their understanding of how marketing works. It's just sad.
Given that women were in the minority of star wars viewers, who thought it was a good idea to make it feminine centric.. And they complain that the main fans are turning their back on it.. Well feck me sherlock...
Feminine centric, and anti-male at the same time. Lots of entertainment media has come out with female lead characters that MEN loved watching. The Resident Evil series for example, Tomb Raider for another. It just has to be done right, but Dizzy doesn't understand how.
One of the things that people like Kathleen Kennedy don’t realize is that it’s ok for a franchise to be male dominant and it’s ok for guys to have there own franchises that they love just as it’s ok for women to have their own franchises that they love.
KK should be blaming just one man for all her troubles! That man is @Valliant_Renegade! Valliant refuses to let the truth get buried and calls out all of KK's bullshit to her.
Fans complain about all sorts of things. Reactions to the male cast of the prequels was extremely brutal. I like how the narrative is when women come into a space pushing out the men, somehow it's the fans responsibility to treat them differently. Just makes me think women can't handle criticism. Doesn't seem very empowered.
I am a female Star Wars fan!!! I hate this crap!!!! The minute KK said " the Force is Female" , I knew we (female Star Wars fans) were screwed!!! I have rarely watched a movie because of a female lead. I will Never watch anything because it's "WOKE"!!!
Yes Men were the reason Star Wars failed, they stopped watching it.
No. WOMEN are to blame because they didn't start watching it.
Because, you know, men spent decades attacking Carrie for her performance in the OT.
They turn Star Wars into a SheBoss in Space franchise and take out the WAR in STAR WARS. What could go wrong?
Take a boy brand insult all the boys and men and hope that women and girls will suddenly take up the slack. So how is that going for you K.K.? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Multiple people of high rank advertising the movie said "We have the most DIVERSE movie ever, 95% of our cast both behind and in front of the camera are African." So by definition not Diverse, what they should have said was it is great to have more African dissent people in major Movies. It does not mean the same thing
Liberals love to change definitions. The people took 'everything's subjective' too seriously.
'diverse' is a cover word for "anti white men sexist racism"

Yeah, I've been a fan since the beginning and have never been made to feel like I wasn't welcome. The complete opposite, in fact. Every male, of any age, I've encountered over the years has responded with delight to the fact that I'm a fan.
The only male fans that have treated me poorly in any way were guys who were desperately trying to defend the ST, and they treated other male fans worse than they treated me. (There were a lot of insults traded between them. I stuck to the facts and ignored personal attacks.)
She’s a sexist is why.
GREAT TAKE
Kathleen Kennedy is like that Principal Skinner Meme, where he asks, “Am I out of touch? No, it’s the children who are wrong!”
Whether the fans are male or female-biased doesn't matter. The most important thing to remember is don't piss off the customer. They give you money!
How does Krazy Kathleen Kennedy still have a job?
She’s got the goods on someone.
We've speculated for YEARS now that she has some juicy polaroids of SOMEONE. There's no other possible reason.
@@andyandreson3989 D'ya think Bob might be another 'Harvey' ?
Her initials are...😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@andyandreson3989 I always figured she had polaroids of someone doing something to someone. However, my choice of terminology tells you what generation I'm from.
KK to Hedland: "Make the lead a chick and make her gay. That will appeal to the widest possible audience."
Don't forget to make her lame
Not even gay males would like that.
I don’t watch movies to showcase anyone. I watch movies to be distracted.
And people wonder why Furiosa flopped!
Furiosa was Awesome! 👍🏽
Here's the thing: I still know zilch about what The Acolyte is supposed to be about. And I have heard them talk alot about it.
What, did “Frozen meets Kill Bill” not explain it for you? Even the red carpet reporters had no idea what that meant.
It showcases women and people of colour. Surely that's all you need to know?
My wife’s struggle with Star Wars came after she saw the Last Jedi. She bought tickets opening weekend and went with her mom. She told me I was lucky I couldn’t go because she would never be able to unsee and forget it. She hasn’t watched a Star Wars product since.
KK:"The force is female!"
Also KK:"The force got it wrong!"
"The flop is female" should be lucasfilm new motto
It seems to me that in this industry, in any industry probably, this level of arrogance and self righteousness is not going to work. Wake up.
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
ATTACK THE FAN FOR YOUR FAILURE 😅😅😅. Great business sense for delusional people
Marketing 101 for Dummies: "Define a market, learn what they want and desire, and provide a product that satisfies those wants and desires." Disney/Lucas Films is so devoid in their understanding of how marketing works. It's just sad.
K.K and Disney ,remind me of the definition of insanity!Doing the same thing ,over and over, and expecting different results!!
Actually we dont give a F anymore
Because you are war games and out gaming not working!..

DISCLOSURE (1994)
I am a female Star Wars fan!!! I hate this crap!!!! The minute KK said " the Force is Female" , I knew we (female Star Wars fans) were screwed!!! I have rarely watched a movie because of a female lead. I will Never watch anything because it's "WOKE"!!!
$180 million / 8 episodes = 22.5 Million an episode ... Episodes are 30 min a pop ...$750,000 a minute. Talk about setting money on fire.
