I am so happy Lulu is settling in so well. I saw the introduction and these things are mostly always tense so good it’s all worked out. I love her hair - what a gorgeous redhead she is 😍
I used to have four guinea pigs together, and I learned to know all their individual voices! I don’t think people really believed me, but I could definitely tell the difference in tone whenever each of them made a noise, even if I was sitting in another room ❤️ Now your videos are giving me so much nostalgia 💕

It's usually more a warning sign (the ''biting'') then actual biting, it always looks worse then it actually is. If people found that introduction too much. Try introducing a boar to another boar. Now that's a fun time! It's basically you sitting there with an oven mitt for a day trying to keep them apart from time to time. Thankfully most inventually calm down and accept the other but I've had some hard introduction in my time of keeping guinea pigs (I've only ever had boars though). BUT there so worth it :)
I'm about to introduce a 3rd boar to my 2 bonded boys so this is good to know! Would it be best to introduce them a couple times during playtime before bonding them or better to do 1 long intro before they live together? Right now the 1 is in a separate cage from the other 2 so they know each other exist but I really want all 3 bonded together. Any thoughts? Thanks! :)
@@Naomi-rr5mf You should keep them together. It's like resetting and starting all over again if you keep separating them. But I do have to give out a warning. Adding a third boar to an already existing couple is pretty hard. There is a high chance of the new piggy becoming like a third wheel (the one who will be bullied). Females are a lot easier to put in a group. Boars are usaully a lot more territorial and dominant. You should keep them together even if it looks like there chasing each other pretty hard, it always looks worse then it is. Separate them when you see blood, this is a clear sign of it going wrong. Introduce them outside of their cage and give the cage a very good clean! The scent of the existing guinea pigs should be removed from the cage. The introduction has to be in an open area with out any hiding places to get possesive about. Put some food (preferably something that they really like) in some places, this serves as a distraction. Please keep in mind that adding a third boar will be tough (not impossible) and keep a very close eye on them. Good luck en let me know how it goes :)
@Naomi Wombough Also make sure your cage is large enough! It should be more than 13 square feet. All hideys should have two holes and fleece forests make great separators. A second food bowl, water bottle, and hay rack might be necessary to keep any amount of fighting at a minimum.
My two boys were in the same cage where I got them and they got along in the same cage (4'x2') until they were both about 9 months old. I now have them in cages nextdoor to eachother because they were starting to physically fight and hurt eachother. Do you think there is any hope for them to live in the same cage again? I never dreamed they would turn from buddies to enemies.
@@IslandMarigold Around that age is when they usually become like an adult (sort of like a puberty stage). So that's when they start deciding who the leader is of the group. This can come with some fighting and chasing. Whether it gets better or not is hard to say. It usually calms down but sometimes they just don't get along. You could try again. Don't separate them when it just a little fighting, this is pretty normal. Only separate when you see blood. Make sure they really have enough space. Boars need more space to co-exist then females.
Me and my my piggie watched this together and she got so scared!!!!! She hasn't really seen or heard another guinea pig since before thanksgiving since her companion died. (I'm getting her a new companion soon don't worry. There were just complications.) She actually enjoys watching these videos with me and it's adorable.
I'm amazed at how quickly Lulu settled in. With our piggies, we got Cookie at about 6 months old when our other two Fudge and Oreo were around a year old. Cookie basically was the last piggie left in the shop, just no-one wanted her, and we could never work out why, she was a nervous wreck but she was the sweetest most loving pigwig ever. She was too nervous to even get out of the cage on her own, she'd look over the edge then look at you and wheek like she was going "ok, I'm ready to get out now please!" but if you were holding her, she would just plop herself down in your arms like "I live here now." She was such a blob XD Anyway, I dunno how much she'd been around other piggies. They were keeping her with a rabbit in the shop. We put her in the run and let the other pigs in, and she was so excited! She was so happy to see other piggies, and Oreo went on the offensive. Just chasing, nipping, fluffed up. Fudge settled right in being Mama Pig and was grooming her, Cookie just sitting there like "ok, yes love me please." We put them in the cage and Fudge and Oreo went into the bedroom area, Cookie went to follow and Oreo just chased her out. We went out the next morning, and Cookie was still shut out, Oreo literally blocking the bedroom door with her bum. This went on for like 3 months. We were debating having to rehome Cookie if Oreo didn't stop bullying her. Then Oreo got ill with a respiratory infection. The vet said she would be ok with the other piggies but needed to be kept an eye on so we kept her inside and just brought the other two in for visits. Fudge became a bit more dominant while Cookie went and cuddled up with Oreo to try to make her feel better. When Oreo got better and we put her back outside, she loved her new sister, let her into the bedroom area, we'd find them all cuddled up together in the mornings. That was over ten years ago now I think. About 6 years ago, we only had Oreo left when we rescued a rabbit who had lived on her own in an apartment where the people taking care of her didn't really know how to care for a rabbit so she was skinny and dirty etc. We were wary about her with Oreo, because Bun was a sweetie, but she was young and we didn't want her to hurt her by accident so we got them seperate hutches. We probably needn't have worried. We opened up both their hutches one morning, and Oreo trotted out, hopped into Bun's cage and went and cuddled up with her, probably just happy to have someone to cuddle up with, and they bonded almost instantly. Like they'd go for walks around the garden, Bun hopping ahead, then circling back to make sure Oreo was alright, it was so cute. I think having Bun with her for the last year of her life did make Oreo really happy, they were always cuddled up and taking care of each other. It was just sweet to see her taking on the role Cookie took on for her when she was sick when they were young.
