      I heard shorter dudes are often desired to have in the field because of strenght to weight ratio. I'm 5'9, and weigh 130 lbs so it takes very little energy to climb or hold my own body in the air...and can lift a lot for someone my size.

      So true. It really is a good investment. A national championship brings millions of dollars into a program, so a couple 100k is nothing. Not to mention if you don't win a title, at the very least your recruitment will go through the roof and the investment is still worth it. NCAA is super corrupt lol but fun to watch

As a coach Dirk's innovation, work ethic and his humbleness makes Dirk's championship more difficult than most.     I can confirm Chucksters story...1997 a nike event in Cologne where a u18 german national team played basically the dream team without MJ and Shaq...Prime Pip,GP,Chuckster and so on...a 17 yo Dirk dropped 52 as basically the only offense there was...game ended like 60 something to 150,little did. my teenage self know about a legend in the making!

    He always liked Dirk. He just wanted him to post up more which he did when he won the title. The fade-away jumper was so much more effective coming off of the post-up than anywhere else. That's when alot of 6'7", 6'8" and above guys started to emulate the move and add it to their repertoires. Lebron and other guys admit to starting to use it now. Imitation is the best form of flattery.

    I heard a Barkely interview where he says the only school that offered him anything was Tenn. They offered to give him a used car since they were further away than the in state schools.
    He said they told him it couldn't be anything fancy that would draw attention though.

    They played in the Nike "Hoop Heroes Tour", it was a 30-minute show match so Pippen probably didn't take him very seriously. And Dirk being 18 yrs. old at the time most likely wanted to really show off his game.

    Barkley's love for Dirk predates the ring, Barkley's always been a Dirk fan. Barkley has been saying Dirk is done since ~2010.

    Exactly. Alot of stars in the SEC have nice expensive cars......
