Extend-a-stay RV Propane Tank Installation | Add propane to your existing tank

- I have been researching how to add propane to a permanently mounted propane tank without having to drive somewhere. Turns out, you can't 'add' propane to your tank. What you can do is add an extend-a-stay part and attach a BBQ tank to your existing system. This way you can take that BBQ in your car and get it filled all winter long without having to drive your RV anywhere. And the good news is it is easy to do!
Some people may feel intimidated by this job but honestly, it is easy. Watch me show you how I added a BBQ tank to my permanently mounted propane tank on my RV.

This is cool! Ironically! I like these type of videos and the valve is an awesome idea! Thank you for sharing and your cousin gave a great option!
Teflon tape is what I would use on the fittings to be sure there are no leaks through the threads. They make a gel that does the same thing, but the tape seems to work better in my experience.
Apparently you can’t (or I should say shouldn’t) use Teflon tape with this type of fitting. It is a flare connection and brass to brass fitting so the Teflon tape doesn’t work the way it should because the treads aren’t what creates the seal. I normally use Teflon tape on all my pipe attachments so that was my first thought too (great minds think alike!) but after much research that is what I learned about flare connections.
Oh, wow! I am glad I came back to read this! UA-cam didn't notify me, but I know you always read and reply to comments. Thank you for educating me! 😀
