Can we just be honest, this is on the PS4 and not the Pro version atm and it is still the best looking console game I've ever played..

Well no, FPS drops considerably during battles on the PS4 which was why I moved to the PRO. Plus the HDR support on the PRO with my LG OLED TV is worth the investment alone. Things just "pop" out
Taunting French Guard I've played through the game 3 times on the original PS4 and not experienced a single drop in frame rate.

My first time killing it, I didn't know about the weapons that fall off of it. It took forever....lol
When you’ve fought the fire bear thing in the frozen wilds the thunder jaw feels like an angry dog and watcher feels like an insect
theyre hard to fight but also really fun. by far one of the most satisfying kills i've had in this game
I fought a thunder jaw when I was level 16 and I knocked out all of its weapons with tearblast arrows, and then I shot it with presision arrows, and I overrided a sawtooth so I killed it
How do you override sawtooths
@@denjigotbackpain Prolly already solved this but!! You gotta find a Cauldron(?) and complete it. Each one allows you to override certain machines.
Best one to override IMO is the Thunderbird. Put the fear of Murica in em

A good tactic is to burn the guy with a volley of fire arrows, then once he's on fire, use the tearblast arrows to rip off components and weapons. You don't need to rely on using his weapons against him.
That'a what I did because I didn't know about the weapons falling off until last second

Ice is the best on most machines as it increases dmg by a lot lol . That and using triple shot precision arrows
What I did was sneak tearblast arrows on the radar first, then the disc launchers. I would tie it down with my shadow ropecaster (Yes, I didnt encounter a thunderjaw until I got a shadow ropecaster) and then repeat the use of tearblast on the rest of the components. Then I would use frost arrows with warbow to shoot the chillwater canisters, once they blew up, I would swap to shock arrows and shoot the powercells, once that is done, I would start raining arrows into the heart until its dead. ALl while continously shooting ropes to immobilize it
The easiest way I know how to defeat one of these is pretty much seconds is first knocking of both disk launchers, freezing him with the slingshot and then whipping the floor with him using it's own disk launchers against it.
My modus operandi for taking down Thunderjaws is freezing them and then laying into them with my max handling Shadow Hunter Bow with Hardpoint Arrows. Takes less than a minute most of the time.

I just noticed now how unrealistically the machine walks. It barely shifts its center of gravity. It would fall over in the first step lol
Playing this game on the PS5 and I’m amazed at the graphics. Movements are a little stiff in the dialogue scenes but overall looks amazing. Had to come back and see if it looked that good on PS4. Hard to believe this game is 4 years old:

Bro easiest way to kill this bad boy is to lay 8 tripcaster traps, get out of the way so they dont kill you and call him, and if u in second to last or last difficulty just throw a hole lot of fire and tearblast arrows i knw it sounds like a lot but it usually takes a minute to set up and a minute to take him down

I'm at level 32 and still afraid that someday I'll have to fight this piece of crap, but ypur video really shed some light on the matter.
So blasting it's cannons and using them I see... it hasn't occured to me, I've always been a fan of 10 tripcaster lines to do the work for me.
And who would've thought the ropecaster had any use in this game... I believe I've ditched it for shards about 25 levels ago 😂

I just fought this guy for the second time. His attacks are easy to dodge. Hardest enemy is the stalker hands down ooo

I leave I bunch of traps around and then activate their alarm, it's gonna run to Aloy and step on the traps.

There's a trick that can be used to easily kill the Thunderjaw without even getting hit by him. Just go to the Sun Furrows Hunting Grounds and jump to the lower level of the hill (you can't shoot from the highest spot since it's a starting point for hunting trials). Then start shooting at the Thunderjaw located below. Use tearblast arrows to get rid of his disc launchers and cannons first and he won't be able to attack you. Even if he gets very close, there's nothing he can do from below (his only range attack left is laser sweep but it shouldn't hit you through the rocks). Just watch out for Ravagers and Watchers wandering around. Most of the time they will remain in yellow state and won't get close to you but occasionally one of them may get close enough to attack.

I starred the game off as ultra hard, and I killed this thing on my first try, took like 10 minutes but I finally did it. Lotted the corpse for some insane mods, grabbed the disc launcher and killed a saw tooth, and 2 snapmaws, then I die...
Make sure to save after a big victory .

Every time I ride through that border,I get chased by not one,but TWO of these buzzards. Each one of 'em has a zone. Big zones.
My personal recipe for killing them takes a while,but it works:
Stay put till it comes close. Shoot the Ropecaster straight away. Do NOT stop until it is down. Use that window of opportunity to shoot it's chest. Specifically. Nothing else. Destroy it while you can. No lightning bolts for this ##er.
Next,evade it's attacks long enough to see another opportunity. If you manage to find a chance to shoot it's feathers accurately,do it. Tie it down again when the time comes,and use the time to shoot it's canisters. Two Freeze on the front, two Blaze on the back near the tail. Freezing is better,with Freeze arrows to save time and ammo. As with all machines, it becomes immensely sensitive. Spam it as much as you can. Blaze doesn't give much except bowing off a chunk of it's health in one go. Useful, but not like the other one.
Finally, focus on the feathers. They're the only real weak points aside from the rest. Even after destroying it's electric component, hitting the chest also seems to work. Use skills frequently.
That,of just pick a good Strider before you pass and GET THE ## OUTTA THERE!

It's even better to inflict freeze with freeze arrows first, as when frozen all armor plating is made null & void, meaning you'll actually do massive damage while its frozen.
I could beat thunderjaws in like 10 seconds because i have a banuk hunter bow that i got with bluegleam and i put on really good modifications and i can load 3 arrows on at a time. My hardpoint arrows do 203 damage. Then, when i shoot the thunder jaw with the 3 on one of the components, it does about 1600 damage per shot with 3 arrows
They were so scary but after you figure out the perfect tactic on how to kill them they become playthings

having some form of cover like rocks helps a lot when your dueling with this bastard
Well, after a little practice and Observation and without the hunter challenges, the thunderjaw is pretty damn easy cause Aloy is overpowered.... the ropecaster is so powerful that you can take down the thunderjaw part by part by fixing it over and over again and shoot off the main parts of this beautiful machine.... way to easy.... but on the first encounter I ain’t know how to beat it... running away was a good option
That first time fighting a thunderjaw with no idea how to beat it is just amazing, randomly shooting arrows at it and dodging it was so much fun. I wish I could forget this game and play it again for the first time. I bought a PS4 just so I can play this game and it was so worth it

That’s fine. You shouldn’t be able to kill first try. I was playing on story mode and it killed me 10 times. Just use tearblast arrows to take off his disc launcher and then when you are able to, grab it and shoot the thing. Hopefully this helps with the next thunder jaw you face.

The first time I killed this thing was by sniping from the a higher ground with tearblast arrows. It kept getting confused as to where it was getting shot at, as the red marker shifts to yellow quickly when it can't see you directly. I managed to hit the radar off first.
Another time, I hid in the bushes. I freaked out when it came right on top. I thought it would find me in the grass, but It didn't. My running off did. 😂

Well, that's certainly the way to beat them, although it's best to inflict freeze first and then hit em hard with their own disc launcher for max damage. Frozen enemies have all of their armor plating rendered null and void. Thus you'll do a LOT more damage to heavily armored foes when they are frozen.

But how do you use the disk launcher, what key do you use to shoot? 😦 Maybe it sounds weird, but my trouble is not getting the launcher but rather to use it😯 Neither R2 nor L2 work to shoot.

what i did was set up blast wires everywhere before i called it, i didnt even realize that there were disc launchers.

These robots weren't made for war, but to protect the other robots
In fact,it does have a sensor. Closer to radar,actually. Whenever it finds a hunter, it will never lose them. At first, it ignores most signs from the grass as small animals except when it makes suspicious noises or it's alerted by another threat. As such,once it finds a hunter,it will always recognise their general shape and therefore, find them...
This fight would have been easier for me because

Thunderjaws are very easy. Just set as many tripcasters as you can. 20 or so and call them over to you.

I Literally spent about 7 hrs trying to kill it with the main Bow & Arrow today (Yes , I did finally succeed )
You should’ve swapped weapons or possibly lowered down the the difficulty mode I destroyed my first one without getting dealt 200 damage with a carja sling and the ordinary bow I also did dodge and heal a bunch but whatever r

Or fought a few beasties to gain some mods? Why the hell would you want to rush thru the game anyway? I can't stand seeing ppl play like that! @@xTGE That's literally the opposite of what you said. You said that you went straight to the Thunderjaw, not that you stumbled around. And if that's true, then you must be a really, really dumb player not to have even tried to buy any of the more advanced weaponry.
I mean do you even try to strategize while playing? Did you not upgrade your satchels so you could grab more loot? Did you not constantly sell your excess to the merchants scattered throughout the land? I assume RPG's aren't your thing considering upgrading your equipment seems to be a nonexistent priority for you.
skins4thewin how is it the opposite? I got presented this big open space to play around in so I walked around and I ended up straight at the thunderjaw. The concept is not that hard to understand. Why would going so deep into the RPG elements of a game only a few hours in after years tutorial had just finished be such a big concern? I clearly had 0 issues killing the Thunderjaw and taking all its loot and I didn’t need all the upgrades you’re carrying on about which would technically make me a better player than you by your logic.
