- This week has been filled with news of the newly-formed uMkhonto weSizwe and its public spats with the ANC. The ANC in the eThekwini region has vowed to deal with card-carrying members who endorse and campaign for the new party. Is the ANC unsettled by the new formation? Political heritage analyst and Indonsa Yesizwe founder Prof. Musa Xulu says the new party will end up in court because of laws which prohibit the use of a trademark that is owned by someone else even if it was not registered.

MK was disbanded a long time ago. Therefore anyone can use the name MK.

Let's take Bafana Bafana case: the name "Bafana Bafana" was owned by South African football national team but was registered by Stanton Woodrush. SAFA decided to take legal action against this but they lost the case.
Conclusion: so Prof Xulu's claims are unfounded.

Some of us don't even care about the name MK it even reminds us of the failures of the ANC. So if Zuma drops that name the better. We will vote despite the name change, whether the ANC stops the trademark no more ANC for a lot of people.

It is highly unlikely that Msholozi who is a chess grand master did not factor in this trademark challenge. I remember in 2005 when Mbeki demoted Zuma and the media projected him as a rapist and thought they had put him in the dustbin of history, Zuma came back and out manoeuvred all of them.

That is so funny, its taken more than 5 years down the line. And Zuma has YET to go to trial for ANY of the corruption charges with the Gupta's. You all are aware, the court case he has avoided ALL this time. Is a Corrupt Weapons Deal before we voted him out in 2018. So is the ANC going to win this Trademark Court case, AFTER he had gone to court for Corruption, or is this court case with for trademark more important than getting the money back that the Gupta family stole?

Matshela Koko is a free man, and another State capture was dismissed in Free State, you can search that.

My understanding about trademark rights is that it last for a period of 10 years after it has been disbanded and not renewed...if the umkhonto wesizwe trademark was disbanded and was never renewed before the expiry of 10 year period no one may then legally claim its ownership...that's my own personal view...I'm not saying that is what the south african law prescribe.
Even if they can take the name Mkhonto weSizwe that will not change that we will vote the ANC out even they take the name "Tree" immediately we take membership😂😂😂

This is uMkhonto kaZuma against his own political party, and the ANC is sadly feeing a pain.
The formation of the MK party, in substance, amounts to theft of intellectual property but technically, the outcome could be different. Over the years, opposition parties have been preaching to the ANC the culture of ethics and to do away with the policy of cadre deployment, the ANC never listened. So the culture of dishonesty is now entrenched in society, the followers of the MK party don't care whether the MK party has been formed dishonestly. So in essence the ANC is getting the taste of its own medicine. The sad reality is that this MK party is different from the previous splinter parties from the ANC, it poses a serious threat to the ANC's electoral support.

The Professor is deluded. Bafana Bafana was associated with SA national squad but it is not owned by SAFA and the Congress of the People is also associated with the ANC but they lost in court to block COPE. The Professor just uses sentiments than law. I am not sure what type of a legal person is this one.
This Zuma narrative about dominance in KZN is a media creation because palace intrigue sells. “Speaking to the media on Wednesday, IFP provincial chairperson Thami Ntuli said the people of KwaZulu-Natal knew that Zuma was given a chance to improve their lives but there was nothing they could show of what he did for them. Ntuli believed that Zuma wanted political protection rather than wanting to better the lives of the people.”
Zuma gives you chest pains neh😂🤣 FYI Zuma increased the ANC votes in KZN from 1 287 823 in 2004(when Mbeki was pres) to 2 192 516 in 2009(when Zuma was pres). No leader has such capacity in KZN. In 2009 Inkatha only received just over 700k of the vote in KZN. In other words Zuma brought more new KZN votes to the ANC in 2009 than the entire total votes of Inkatha.
Its not a narrative, statistics show there is no politician more popular and DOMINANT than Zuma in KZN. Don't be emotional like this misinformed so-called professor.

Zuma will be turning 82 in a few months. It’s safe to say his best days are behind him. These are literally the last kicks, shame on those abusing geriatrics for their own political ambitions.
His lawyer Dali Mpofu argued he should be granted medical parole because he is terminally ill. The parole board appointed medical doctor refuted this & said he has a “complex medical condition which predispose (sic) him to unpredictable medical fallouts or events of high-risk clinical picture”. When it came to standing in trial, his age & comorbidities were central to his defence. Campaign trail is much more demanding but suddenly & miraculously he is quite sprightly. A lot of people who think this is about them & a ‘glorious future’ will be left with eggs on their faces after pinning their cultish hopes on a lame and old horse in a steeplechase.
