A lore video with no dialogue seems like such a difficult thing to produce, but this had me enthralled when you showed it off. Thanks for posting it as a stand alone!
I felt the same
well there is still storyboarding and ideation that goes on so while theres no dialogue in the result there is "dialogue" in the working phase! honestly i prefer lore videos with little to no dialogue because it leaves it open for the viewers and also makes the atmosphere kinda draw you in!

I love the Madoka Magica vibes this lore video gives off
I think it's double entendre at the start; the cat figure is likely something precious to whoever owned it, and when it broke, Gigi was scared of the punishment. The storage of curios along with the extravagant interior and overlay tells us that Gigi is likely part of a wealthy family or one that collects so many valuables, where she does not receive as much love from the family as they do for their possessions.
Gigi is not whole, like the figure that (she?) broke.
Seeing herself in the broken figure, she becomes fed up with the feeling, and puts it back together her own way, filling the cracks and emptiness with her desires, hiding what once was.
She loses herself to a heart full of childish greed, changing the world how she prefers it to be.
Reigning in the chaos, Liz's tough justice is too much for Gigi. As a porcelain figure held by simple glue, Gigi falls apart when opposed.
Then, a reversal of roles. When the figure broke in front of Gigi, she fled and restored it rashly. When the figure breaks in front of Liz, she approaches it delicately, just as she reaches to Gigi in the reflection of reality.
I think what we see is that when something precious breaks, it may no longer be itself, but it can become better with care.
This was my favorite of the lore videos, the style, the music, and the sudden shifts in tone are so enthralling
A masterful introduction. Even now looking back months later I’m in absolute awe of this art. Some people might get it, some might not, much like passersby in a museum. It’s a shame that we don’t have a continuation but that’s part of the charm I believe. The viewers are witnesses involved in her yet-unwritten story.
I really have to say, this lore story video captivated me from the start. It was so unexpected but I love it so much

Is Gigi the broken girl? She repairs herself? But when ERB breaks Kintsugi'd (Yobitsugi'd?) Gigi, the reflection in the mirror shows a whole girl.
REALLY good storytelling, eelsoup+Gigi. Does the genki gamer have a tragic backstory? I'm loving the storytelling the animation is calling ME to do, really fitting for a Gigi debut.
This is MY personal distillation of the video due to the details we see: The precious thing that breaks is not the cat figure, Gigi's the broken one. You see her... "reflection" behind the Painting? Mirror? she is broken and heartless.
We often see this in adults. Many let go of their dreams, of themselves, of their passions to adhere to what's expected of them. She was broken.
Like most people who are in this state she was not satisfied, not happy, and she evaded other people. Then she went nuts, she said fluff it! and started painting things her own twisted way, like a child pulling a tantrum. She "fixed" herself this way. But she was still very fragile, and held together by the weakest thread(or in this case paint, some kind of gruel and stickers, probably) so when the first outside touch came, she broke down again. But she had the luck to be touched by someone who did not just get away but picked her up. (my guess would be Liz, but it could just be a stand in for whatever gave her the "in" into Hololive.
BUT I may very well be completely wrong and reading between the lines something that's not there at all.

@@eluzivoI love your interpretation. I kinda understand the first part the animation was trying to convey with her broken pieces but I didn't understand the last part when her colorful self also broke apart. Now I can even understand the implication of Liz picking up a piece of the broken pieces.
@@eluzivoThis definitely fits, though it makes me wonder more. Like, maybe Liz did something very special for Gigi, from one super experienced creator to another, or was introduced to trying Hololive by Liz. That moment of Liz picking up the heart, and comforting and taking the hand of Gigi gives serious caretaker vibes. So interesting, I could be off too, but it just makes me want to keep reading into it!
I'm kind of wondering if she's kind of a mix between the Western idea of a Gremlin (which traditionally in folklore was not visible itself but "inhabits" objects to damage or cause malfunction) and a variation of the Japanese idea of a Tsukumogami (an object itself gaining life as a Yōkai after a hundred years).
She seems to be associated with that figurine that broke in some way.
One of my favorite parts about this video is that there's a thousand different interpretations that can be explored and all of them are fascinating. Maybe if it ever gets around to our favorite gremlin in the new ENreco series they just launched, we'll find out more. But if not, even the mystery is beautiful.

Absolutely love this video. No dialogue, just visual storytelling with the right sfx and musical cues. Reminds me very much of a Witch from Madoka Magica, and that's always a treat.
I love the “Alice In Wonderland” theme, and how she changes the world around her from dull to a more vibrant place, and to top it all the amazing BGM and cute art style!!
Who would've thought, the gremlin would have the most disphoric backstory. Also, need that full BGM when she was putting the pieces back together.

The style and presentation are gorgeous. There's multiple ways to interpret it. Like at first it felt like a child scared of being punished. But then as Gigi tries to repair the cat she's fixing a missing part of herself in the process.
This entire lore video was really well done! Just looking at Gigi herself you wouldn't think to get such a video like this. I found it very captivating, it was giving mad madoka magica vibes too!

Something precious of hers broke (the cat in the shelf) and either it broke her or she realized she was already broken too. She used her creativity to fix the it and in the process fixed her heart and glued it back together in her own unique style. After that she went overboard and started applied her style to everything around her. When Elizabeth tried to reel her in she broke again so Elizabeth offered her hand to help her.
At least that's my interpretation of it.

I love this kind of Lore video. Like no need a dialogue, the art, animation, and the BGM tell the story.
This video is the most intriguing part of Gigi to me. I’ve spent at least a couple minutes every day since her debut thinking about its meaning. It’s the perfect mixture of sad and off the rails. I love it.

After watching her for 6 months I think I understand this more. By being "broken" Gigi has the power to "fix" everything around her.
People around her and even reality itself is like putty in her hands. Her aura is immense and her passion is overwhelming. She's a Major League Gremlin and a grade-A yapper. She's the most humble knight but also the most chaotic Vtuber. She is Her. She is Gigi.
There is also the whole deal with her mom.

this is the most creatively produced and intriguing vtuber lore video i've ever seen, it honestly seems like it could be the premise to a book or a game. everyone who worked on this did a fantastic job, and i love seeing all the theories people have made about this video. i really hope one day there's another follow up or "chapter" to this piece of lore

My headcanon is that she's the counterpart to Biboo.
Biboo is made of rock, but she represents emotions. Gigi, on the other hand, appeared to be a normal human, but along the way, she got "broken", and no amount of repairs or additional machinations could bring her back. Despite her exterior, she's now just an emotionless empty husk.
I'm basing this on their debut order. They both debuted the second.
Shiori and Liz, who debuted first, represent the pen and the sword, respectively. Cold facts of the world vs the enduring human spirit.
Nerissa and Cecilia both are musical. But Nerissa represents loss (her horn), while CC represents life. The twins are guard dogs, ensuring no one spots Advent, while Roara can see through everything.
I really wish we get to know more Hololive lore. I wanna confirm my own thoughts.

I think at some point or another we all have been broken, but we ALWAYS can start again. Sometimes we just need the people beside us to put us back together.

This is such a beautiful short film. It has a lot of heart, power, and creativity without a word of dialogue.
This is, in my interpretation, the story of how Gigi became a gremlin.
A 'gremlin' in folklore is a type fae, and some fae are born from children, either as changelings spirited away, or after becoming lost in the woods. Gigi 'breaks', and in the process of trying to 'fix' herself, taps into something old and dark.
There's a reason it looks like something out of Madoka Magica- Witches are born from despair in that anime, and here Gigi's emotions gradually twist her into something 'not human.'
Liz eventually finds and stabilizes Gigi. The broken cat she picks up remains as colorful as ever, representing that Gigi is forever changed, but the girl in the mirror, Gigi's inner self, is finally fixed, allowing her to be guided to a happier, better place.
This presumably is what led a gremlin, traditionally a malious-leaning, mischievous-type fae, to become part of the heaven/divine-associated Justice.
I love the art style and the music, they gave me chills. It’s super well done ❤❤❤
No matter the timeline or reality, it seems that the universe really wants to break her :/

It's provoking, has strong pacing, great emotional visualisation, the music supports well 👌 it's basically a masterpiece for getting everything communicated in two minutes!

Reminded me of my good friend, also cheerful gremlin, but she wasn't always like this, its defensive mechanism. Broken heart, glued back anew and painted in bright colors to hide scars.

From what I got is that Gigi best idea to not being chaotic was to lock herself in the basement before debut, but when she broke something, her chaos returned
