  • The Australian Army continued Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Canberra with Royal Military College - Duntroon’s (RMC-D) Queen’s Birthday Parade on 11 June 2022. The Corps of Staff Cadets performed a traditional ‘trooping of the colours,’ joined by Army leaders, dignitaries, family and friends. The
ceremony provided a suitable occasion to congratulate The Queen on her 70 years of dedicated service to Australia and the Commonwealth. The Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC, DSC (Retd), who graduated from RMC-D in 1975, was the reviewing officer for the parade. The parade was a chance for RMC-D’s young leaders to reflect on Her Majesty’s reign and continue the proud tradition of trooping the Queen’s Colour which was started in 1956. On the parade ground, the Queen’s Colour is deemed equal to the presence of Her Majesty The Queen herself. RMC-D prepares Army’s future leaders by promoting leadership and integrity, by inspiring high-ideals and the pursuit of excellence, and by instilling a sense of duty, loyalty and service to the nation.

As a young officer, I was honored to have been a color bearer 3 times and a color ensign once. Accordingly I can understand the RMC color bearers' sense of pride. Please let the color trooping continue into the future. PS blankets great on the cold day.

It’s optional. The Queen’s proclamation speaks of it being optional for the various Commonwealth countries to award it. The Brits get it, we don’t.

@@whya2ndaccount And fair enough too. Those bogus medals are just that, bogus. Prince William and Prince Harry each have three of them, and Prince Charles has the full set.

This is a very disappointing video. I marched on four QB parades at the Royal Military College in the 1980's. On every occasion the public viewing areas were packed to the rafters, standing room only. The crowd is so conspicuously absent it makes me wonder if this was just a rehearsal.

I agree. They could’ve shown more footage, kind of like how they do on BBC for the British Trooping

@@Anonymoususer44569 More video would only show a disappointing crowd in attendance. The 1812 and QB parades used to be major events on the Canberra social calendar, drawing huge public crowds. The eminence of these two events at RMC has obviously diminished over time.

First QB parade post Covid restrictions lifting. It’s taking time for people to be comfortable in large groups again.
