For a pro job people, please use a torque wrench and in sequence. Yes it won’t leak 9 times out of ten the way this guy did it but I have done a hundred of these jobs and I will use a torque wrench to specs every time.

I’m going to attempt to change the valve cover gasket on my 07 Fusion here soon because I believe it is the culprit to significant oil leak all around the cover and down the sides of the engine block. Vehicle has 240k miles and still runs very well. Would you recommend a mild engine degreaser cleaning before I replace the gasket? There’s quite a bit of oil specifically on both sides of the engine.

Actually, I'd be more focused on degreasing it AFTER the new gasket gets installed. Do a quick spray before you disassemble, just to make sure no dirt gets inside. Then, give it a good cleaning after it's back together. Also, you're probably going to find a good bit of oil in the spark plug holes. The gasket leaks there, too. Get a long screwdriver and paper towels down in there to soak it up.

I’m late but I recently did an oil change 2 days ago and my 07 fusion started pumping out white smoke from the exhausts, an accident happened while pouring the engine oil and a LOT of oil spilled on the engine and somewhere down below, the result of lack of knowledge. It doesn’t over heat or anything at all, but the smoke is too much and I can’t run it long because I’m in a apartment complex. Idk if it’s the oil spilled or the head gasket blown
