Been looking for an installation for a 04 Honda Civic LX and this video was probably as close as I’ll get. Thanks for the Vid bro it’s all clean when it’s finish i really wanted to see how the wires and all that goes!
As an owner of both an 2003 Ex civic and a 2004 MX-5, it is not the same. At all lmao. And there’s plenty of vids on UA-cam that explain it for the civic lmao
Sam Morales the head unit comes with it's own wiring to connect to your vehicle wiring harness. Each vehicle has it own harness adapter to work with an after market head unit, which is sold separately.
Yeah they're all thread in miatas. My father in-law has a Ford ranger 2006, I believe, and it uses glue and a good smack to the shifter and it stays in place.
I want to order the same radio for my 2003 MX-5, but was curious to know how you like it in yours. How is for example the screen with the roof open? And are there other things I should know before or while installing? And what about the microphone placement? Did you keep it like in the video or have you found a better spot? How does the microphone sound with the roof open? Thanks in advance for your reaction.
Max de Jongh well first thanks for watching! The radio I do like. Speacially the Android auto portion. Now they're rare times where my Galaxy S7 doesn't want to talk to radio, meaning it won't launch Android auto. For the mic, I haven't had problems people hearing me when the top is up. I haven't tried it with the top down. If I had any tips is use wire connectors. I just use electrical tape. I don't plan on going back and organizing the wires.
Yes, you can . I recommend putting in the glove box as i found my phone got warm / hot in warm to hot days specially with the transmission right underneath.
I'm thinking of getting something similar in my 2002 Miata (NB). I want to get the Pioneer - 7" - Android Auto/Apple® CarPlay™ - Bluetooth model from Pioneer. How can I tell if it'll fit or not?
Crutchfield is a good place to double check. Everything that has a double din, like the pioneer you're looking at will fit in the nb you just need to buy the bracket.
@@Marvin1martian does the stereo fall out or slant because since it doesn't have any support under the stereo? Or is it only those 2 brackets holding it in place?
I have a 99 with the bose amp still installed and my ax100 does some weird stuff like randomly changing the volume for no reason and turning the screen black (audio still plays though). Have you run into these types of issues on yours?
The Bose amp needs to be bypassed or check out crutchfield for the bose to scoche adapter it will come with instructions. I fried my main relay once. Car sat for a year. Don't be that guy i spent 300 dollars on the wrong things
This comment probably saved me so much time and frustration! I just ordered all the parts and I’m sure I would have been pulling my hair out if I couldn’t figure out the stereo.
Hey man I have another harness wich I helvei to be the speaker harness because they aren’t working and it came out all the way I was wondering. If you could help. Thanks in advanced
This is a straight hack job that green wire is so not meant to be twisted on like that while yes it works it really isn’t done up to proper procedure I’m not trying to knit pick but if you are about doing everything absolutely correct this is not the video to follow I’m not knocking the man he worked hard to put this in but I feel he needs some guidance to install things properly and this is coming from a certified automotive repair person that’s trained in electrical so I don’t expect people that didn’t go to school to know this stuff completely when wiring is done wrong though you can run into things such as electromagnetic interference which can sometimes mess with modules in the car and even set your airbags off unexpectedly which amps not head units are usually the reason for airbag deployment
I value your opinion. This not my profession and ive had the radio like that for a while, and I haven't had any problems. Ive done a few radio installs, I try to make them look nice and clean but when it comes to my car I know what I did and I don't mind.
dann hienn I believe is slightly different you might have to by pass the amp. Which I wouldn't know how to do since I didn't have the Bose model. Sorry. Good luck 👌
my last miata had the bose system and yes i had to bypass the amp and by doing so it made my car sound like shit afterwards. so i’d recommend figuring out another way to wire it or getting a replacement amp aswell. idk if you’ve already done it yet lol
About to buy one of these head units for my NB. You said you needed to connect the green wire to ground for android auto to work. For clarification, does that mean none of the functionality worked without grounding that wire? I've been reading online and some people are saying that only video functions won't work if the parking brake wire isn't grounded. There's also some cheater bypass devices I might pick up for $12 or so if needed. Thanks in advance.
From what I remember. Grounding the wire triggers the head unit so Android auto/ apple carplay always works. I haven't had a problem taping it to the tube behind the stereo. You can buy a bypass and it would work just ass good.
@@TeamHeresy there is a total of 5 screws. Two on each side in the front area. One under the window switch and two inside the storage area. This will be for the NB2 should very similar to other models

Well done. I have a 2001 Miata. After your vid I think I might be able to change the old radio.
Glad my video will maybe help you out.
I have a 99 I came here for the same reason. Although that radio looks laggy
Dude I respect you for answering all the comments
I try my best.
If I'm going from the stock radio directly to this, what components do I need to buy?
Also wire kit
did the head unit itself come with a wiring harness? Or should I get the metra trim piece with the wiring harness option

What after market adapter is that to connect the radio to the car
Great video! Does the power antenna work with this headunit? Does it go up when the radio is on and down when the radio is off?
I want to know too! Thanks!
Sorry for the late reply but yes it does. I think you might know that by now.
Did you have Bose speakers in the car? Mine has Bose and I think there’s another step to it?
I did not have the Bose . You would need to get an amp by pass.

You americans definetely have it hard when it comes to car wires.
In europe every car has the ISO 10487 Harness adapter (aka as the euro connector)
Where did you get the cable that outputs the female part of the usb on the back of the stereo
The usb extension cable?
Have a link to the dubble din kit?

Man, the double din of the nb is so nice though! Such a tough choice if i should get an na or nb.

Eriiaa does both but it wont fast charge if you have a Android phone
I have a OnePlus so I wasn't expecting fast charge anyways, I'd be happy with trickle charging just to keep the battery from draining too quickly
