Hilarious that they had Haligtree Loretta last time in the library and somehow managed to re-roll her into Caria Manor Loretta. One of the biggest sidegrades possible, lol.
the whole 'running out of myths and legends to test' thing happened to that show river monsters. he just went out and caught all the fish, just all the big freshwater fish in the world. and so they ended the show.
To be fair, "don't jump in a lift" is actually a good life advice. Would suck to trigger the safety gear halfway up a skyscraper and having to wait for the maintenance guy to come let you out...
Tom remembers the MythBusters experiments with negating speed, but forgets the very myth they are discussing (of jumping in a lift at the last possible second) was done by them too?!
If you could jump with enough counterforce to prevent the splat, your body would still be experiencing that force. It's the Spiderman Gwen Stacy conundrum. You need to slow your speed gradually.
This is true if you are stopping very quickly, as you need to supply enough force to counteract the accumulated velocity, but if you are a decent bit away from the ground, you can slowly apply an upwards force that is a bit stronger than gravity and calmy decelerate. The problem with the jump solution is you need to jump with enough force to counteract accumulated velocity, which after falling for a few meters, people just can't do, you wouldn't even jump. In theory if spiderman had used a less rigid web, and had connected it earlier, the spring force would slowly accelerate gwen upwards and could stabilize before she hit the ground without any damage.
@@spongmongler6760 I basically just said the final result is the same as the other guy said. If you could apply force more steadily than jumping that would work though (this is why parachutes don't kill you).
I love that tom and ben have now officially invented the strange fictional idea of "people thinking that all of reality is shifting around them because they're morons and remember wrong but don't want to admit to it" - we could name this concept "The Tom&Ben Effect".
[T]he best way to survive in a falling elevator is to lie down on your back. Sitting is bad but better than standing, because buttocks are nature's safety foam. Muscle and fat are compressible: they help absorb the G forces of the impact. As for jumping up in the air just before the elevator hits bottom, it only delays the inevitable. Plus, then you might be squatting when you hit. In a 1960 Civil Aeromedical Research Institute study, squatting on a drop platform caused "severe knee pain" at relatively low G forces. "Apparently the flexor muscles ... acted as a fulcrum to pry open the knee joint," the researchers noted with interest and no apparent remorse.
You can't do it. Not able to apply enough force to counteract the drop. They then pushed it by using air cannons to launch Buster upwards with super human jumping, but essentially he "fell" into the celing of the elevator.
I'm leaving a like and a comment for the algorithm and letting the video play to the end without watching because I desperately want this to be a full series but I'm also a lazy b*tch who hasn't finished Elden Ring yet and don't want to see spoilers.
That pop up is actually pretty important. Reviving Torrent consumes a healing flask, which can be very detrimental at the wrong time. If prefer the warning and needing to quickly press rather than not wanting to consume a flask and wasting it anyway
A lift falls at around 200 km/h and, in ideal conditions, a person can jump at around 25 km/h. So if you jump at the exact right moment as the lift is about to hit the ground, you will only hit the ground at a mere 175 km/h. In reality, you wouldn't jump at 25km/h because the lift floor is falling away from you so quickly that you can't exert the necessary force on it to push off effectively. Also, given the speed of the fall, the difference between jumping too early and hitting the ground before you jump is about 100 milliseconds. Given that you can't really predict the moment of impact, you'll almost certainly miss the jump window. In short... ya dead.
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1432 (And Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1433 as no video yesterday :S, shame) Ahhh, that explains it, that's why Warhammer lore is so goofy, these 2 goobers are using timetravel to make a menace XD If I am right in remembering, I think the loop was for 35 to 40 years in Groundhog Day Damn, Blood Boy Tom for the win Awww, poor Dog, hope he is well soon
Tom, you have to believe me - the world you live in isn't real! It's a TV show, and every single person you interact with is an actor! From your birth to this day, you've been living in a giant dome! If you ask anyone they will deny it but you know that it's true because there's a movie about it!
They didn't beans it up they toasted it 4:41 Also, technically if you're falling with something and you jump off of it you are slowing your fall somewhat. But like ben said with how fast you would be falling no jump a human could do would be enough to make much of a difference. But to make any difference at all you would have to jump near impact otherwise even if you did a superhuman jump you'd just reach terminal velocity again before meeting what's left of the elevator at the bottom.
Tom is your edditor adding the boss music? cause it went from hollowknight music to the boss music from a hat in time. i am not a smart man, and now its pokemon music, from black and white i think
Jumping in a falling elevator will probably result in your legs getting shot up into your upper body or shatter both your legs 😂 Since i think the mythbusters did actually test that myth
What's the music at the round table room @ 16:10? It's been bugging me a while now. I thought it was OG Mario Kart but no dice. I feel like that's along the right lines though...
Stealing a "cool movie idea" has been demonstrated to not be that great of a plan these days. Just because the idea is good, doesn't mean the execution won't be crap. 😆
"We did the opposite of beansing it up"
An event so rare Ben doesn't have the vocabulary to say it without a negative.
Then he jumped down the lift and died
Hilarious that they had Haligtree Loretta last time in the library and somehow managed to re-roll her into Caria Manor Loretta. One of the biggest sidegrades possible, lol.
The biggest irony is that I'm pretty previous rerolls replaced the Regal Ancestor Spirit with a normal Ancestor Spirit for that same exact boss.

20:20 this is one of the Gen 5 fight themes… can’t exactly place which one though (Pokémon)…. Way to hit me with that nostalgia editor ❤
I believe thats the heart gold/ Soul Silver champion theme
@@dawsonbassan9876 Firered/Leafgreen champion (lance) theme, but the fight with red did have it in silver/gold.
The Pokemon battle music makes this SO much better.

The only thing that can stop a Tom'n'Ben is another Tom'n'Ben.
Some really good musical choices in this episode, like always. Fine editing!
“Temporal shenanigans” would be a great band name 😂
My ring is ready for more double-teaming action!
my heart skips a beat everytime an epiisode is released I love this series
Mythbusters actually did an episode on the elevator jump myth. Can't remember the outcome though.

The Mythbusters regularlly mythbusted themselves. They also did the Elevator one and "spoiler" it did not work.
Got to love Ben and Tom messing around
Loved the Pokémon music during the wyrm fight, very intense

if you're in a plummeting elevator, your bet bet is to lay on your stomach so that the force of the impact has the most surface area to spread out
the ring bros back at it again
