That mantra is always misunderstood. Be conscious of your method until it becomes engrained. Speed is just the byproduct. It's everything you're teaching brother and you do it very well. Thanks for the new format and great videos.
I was doing some dry fire and airsoft the past few days trying to get a little faster and at some point as I was drawing I ended up seeing my front sight post before I pressed out and it made it so much easier and faster to have my sights aligned and on target and it was a moment where i felt like I picked up a few tenths easily just by seeing my front sight post earlier
More good stuff from TH. Another concept I like regarding speed (once you are ready to incorporate speed) is go as fast as you can while maintaining accuracy. If you begin to miss shots, slow down just a little until you aren’t missing, then gradually speed up again while maintaining accuracy. Over time this builds your speed, while maintaining accuracy and “at the end of the day” you want both.
You have to practice at speed when you're ready.... Is key I can drive 10 out of 10 shots from a draw in the black on a b8 at 15 yards as soon as I get an acceptable sight picture at about 75 to 80 percent speed but I'm working hard to get to faster and this is going to be a great drill to manage that excessive momentum!!!! Thank you
Thank you for your insight and training tips. They are dead on, no play on words. I used to shoot a lot and just got back into it, this is the best I've seen as far as straight up and down training goes. Once again Thank you for your time.
Great shooting philosophy/technique, very difficult to employ as once we initiate momentum our tendency is to continue at the same speed…difficult habit to break
I do to an extent agree with slow is smooth and smooth is fast however my hockey coach always said you play like you practice so practice like you play.
I’ve been enjoying your series however I’m not sure you understand where that mantra comes from. Yeah “Slow is smooth and smooth is fast” has been around a long time because it was said by Mr Wyatt Earp. Not ‘attributed to’ he actually said it. Maybe he was saying when things go live it’s better to be accurate than fast. IDK, he ain’t around to explain it.
The problem with that is smooth isn't fast unless it's fast. Fast is fast smooth can be horribly slow or it can be fast. You have to go fast to be fast.
