One of my first sponsors on PBS. They make excellent replaceable carbide cutter turning tools.

You do wonderful work and the little side comments you make are priceless!
Perfect little turning project. Nice choice of wood. I wish Cooks Woods had cheaper shipping!
Great project!! Great to see you at SWAT and glad you found this video!
Great little project, Tim. Just don't misplace the holder. When my kids were younger and losing their keys al the time, I bought them a key locator with a remote to trigger a beeper with the keys. You guessed it - they kept losing the remote.

Tim; Metal workers often have to turn a square object round and it takes a long time to go around the outside with a metal bandsaw on a thick piece of metal. These saws are NOT made to cut curves easily. So cut straight from outside toward center stopping just beyond the line; then back out. Make 8 - 12 cuts, then cut around the circumference. The "relief" cuts allow you to go around the outside edge without twisting the blade.
Thanks again for sharing your time and talent! KANSAS
Glad you found this clip. Many very useful tips. Thank you!
Great longer lesson, thank you!
You are a delight to watch! And I love your smaller projects. GreT teaching and entertaining.
You need to get back on PBS
Great idea Tim, thanks…..I need to make one and practice my spindle moves!
Loved the video, have watching several times. Thanks for sharing our talent and for the inspiration to make such a useful project. I have a question: What is the purpose of making the 1/8 inch deep mortise on the bottom of the base?
I made a few “change” bowls that I sold last year at craft bazaars. Someone told me it is called a “butler’s bowl”. I told her if I called it a butler’s bowl, I’d have to charge a higher price!
Nice project for some. I never leave my keys anywhere except my pocket though. Always know where they are. But I do know people that just drop them somewhere when they get home.
Nice little fun project. Lots of informative tips. I wonder if there is a way to slip in a bandsaw box drawer somewhere. Thanks for posting this 🙂
My yeyes are not what they were. I wonder how well it would work using your camera rig attached to a shop TV to turn the small details.
Don't you just love the smell of Zebrawood?
