I have been trying to wrap my head around how I can do this, this video just solved what I thought was complex, into a digestible framework - thank you!

I think that you have just unlocked a way for me to solve a problem I have been wrestling with for a while. I need to be able to have a slicer do something it wasn't designed to do. This harvesting technique could be the basis I needed. As far as the actual video though, of course, the actual quantity of sales will be impacted by the change in price. but so far I have seen no one that includes that in these types of videos. just because you increase the price doesn't mean you will make more money.

If you use selectedvalue to pick up the slicer's value, probably also a good thing to set the slicer for single select

Great Video. I have two questions
    1. Would the percentage change table be considered a disconnected table?
    2. Is this the same as using number parameters function?

    • @EnterpriseDNA
      @EnterpriseDNA  Рік тому +1

      Hi @oneeyeshutcreative,
Below are the answers provided to your questions:
      1) Yes, as showcased in the given video, percentage change table is a disconnected table and cannot be linked with any other tables in the data model i.e., with Fact and Dimension tables.
      2) Yes, you can replace the table with the number parameters function and make it more dynamic.

Hi, I am stuck with a challenge, where I need to show the Latest date of each ID(Each ID has multiple entries at different dates and times), but the catch is, there is a date slicer(Between option), so when we change the date in the slicer, Table should show the latest data based on the slicer. For example, the overall date range is from 01st April 2021 to 31st March 2022, so if the latest date for id 707 is 18th March, only this should display, but if the slicer is changed to 15th Apri1 2021 to 01st March 2022, then the latest date between this should display for ID 707 which may be 25th Feb 2022
Accordingly, with ID 707, we have multiple ids and all should display their latest data as per the selection

      Hi SAADAT NASIBDAR,
Thank you for posting your query onto our channel. We really appreciate you taking your valuable time to post it.
Well, to achieve the results based on the scenario that you've specified, you can use the "MAX()" function. You measure should be something like this -
Max Date Based On ID =
      MAX( 'Fact_Table_Name'[Date] )

What if I have a table where the selected value is a version (fx P04_2022) and I want to compare the total sales for this version (measure select 1) with another version (measure select 2 fx P03_2022)?

Is it possible to assign the selected value dynamically to pull in different column values. Say, YTD, MTD, QTD as the selected value in the slicer and they are the separate columns in time dimension. Then how is it possible to pick the YTD, MTD, QTD flags from time dimension table. Please suggest.

is there a way to make this work when the slicer format is a range. The selectedvalue function doesnt work when the slicer is a range of values

      Hello pranay,
Thank you for posting your query onto our channel.
No, there's no alternative here in this type of scenario. It's expected that user make one individual selection into the slicer at a time to see that particular scenario. How can one see or view the scenario's by converting the slicer into a range of values.
