    The arranging on the 9 piece band reminds me alot of Jerry Mulligan's ten tette
    Love that style of arranging

    According to one account, Garland walked out during the Milestones session over something Miles said, and the latter played piano on 1 track.

      Who knows how true that story is, but it's not hard to believe. It kind of harkens back to when Louis Armstrong replaced his wife with Earl Hines. Can't imagine that went terribly smoothly.

      @@chasesanborn Thanks. Apparent corroboration comes from the Red Garland entry in Wikipedia:
      See the section 1955-1958: the first great Miles Davis Quintet.
      I wasn't a great Garland fan, as he often played on the beat.
